4th of July at the Fort

What part of Charleston? We live in West of the Ashley. I started another thread, but did not know this was already here. Duh! We will also be there over the 4th. Requested the 1700 loop.

Ladson. I went to College Park Elem & Middle and then Stratford High for 2 years before moving here. I still have a lot of family West of the Ashley and some in Goose Creek. Most of my family graduated from Middleton High School.

We aren't too close to Disney, though much closer than SC. We are on an island about 3 1/2 hours from Disney.

OK so the wife and I got to thinking about the cocktail party/happy hour(s) for the 4th. Like I said previously, we will be staying in the Fort all day on the 4th. So what I think we are going to do to make sure everyone who wants to partake will know where we are:
Going to make some lime green Mickey ears out of poster board and put them on the cart with the loop address for our cabin. That way they will be seen during the parade. Also going to put up some ears on the cabin window. We were thinking once everyone is at the Fort, not really a great way to let everyone know where we are. Any other ideas or suggestions would be more then appreciated. Also thought if poeple felt more comfortable, maybe doing it at the marina beach. Any ideas??????? Please post away.

We'll see how many think they will be there. I am curious because I saw some of the previous get togethers didnt seem to work out. However I will be there all day, so the more the merrier. Peg ordered a bunch of stuff to hand out at the parade, and stuff for after at the get together. Also have tons of decorations for the cart and the cabin. Just want to make sure everyone knows where we are.

Maybe you can put a clipboard somewhere central, like a picnic table by the main pool with a place for everyone to sign their names and write down their cabin/site number? I am sure someone could come up with a great place to leave the board. How about one by the tables down at the marina also? We used to use Ms. Sundee from the sing a long to find out where everyone is. She never forgets where anyone is staying.

How about leaving a sharpie on your golf cart and anyone from here can write down their name/site number on your lime green mickey head for everyone to see? It will be at the marina at the end of the parade, plus people will see it while you are here or there in the campground. ok, out of ideas!

I understand completely. We were there for last year's meet at the movie and didn't see a sole with a green mickey head.

Peg ordered from Oriental Trading, tons of throw aways for the parade, all kinds of patriotic stuff, plus a ton of beads in red, white, blue, plus some lai's. She also got 1000 glow braclets/necklaces. Plus a boooooooat load of decorations for the cart. She is also getting me my Uncle Sam Hat. Our cart is Black and Tan, just like my favorite beer.....

You have a great idea....... Maybe the play gound on the main road or the pool back by 2500 loop someplace that works for all. Thinking also since we will be there from the 29th, the Mickey head on the dash/windshield would work. Give everyone a few days to look for us. See cart.... write down your info. Our info would be on it as well. Keep all the good ideas rolling.

I may have at the campground on the 3rd just to prepare for the 4th..this sounds like a great time. I'll gladly help in any way.

This is our 3rd trip to WDW but only our 2nd time to stay at the fort. Our last trip was an 8 day monsoon...not the usual Florida showers. It was our friend's first trip so hoping this time will be less wet.

Asked Peg to also get some candy to throw out as well. We arrive early (5:00 am or so) on Friday the 29th, we are so ready to enjoy the Fort. We will start to decorate the cart as soon as we pull in.

Just got back from our quick trip to Virginia. Next trip....Fort Wilderness. Time to really start to get ready.
