John- Welcome back—I’m glad you had a good time in NYC!

My birthday was pretty boring. We BBQed some kilbasa, hot dogs and steak. I did a lot of cleaning. As expected, there were no gifts. Hopefully I can get to bed early and just rest!
Well, sometimes calm, relaxing birthdays at home are more peaceful than a big ordeal. :goodvibes

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

:bday:

party:

Still trying to find pics of Tyler & Bethany dancing. Can't remember where I put them. In the meantime, here are a few pics from our "Day Out with Thomas the Train". I apologize in advance for the poor quality. They're just from my phone because I lost my camera coming home from Florida in June. :sad2:

Tyler doesn't look too thrilled in this first pic (or any of them), but he really had a blast! He was just tired of waiting each time for me to figure out how to get my phone to take pics.

Stagecoach in the village where he just had to have his picture taken:

This is the paddlewheel boat we went on. Small boat, but it was a 45 minute ride, so very nice. Only cost $5.50 total for both of us for the boat ride. :thumbsup2

Cute pic! He looks like he's got a model pose going on there! I'd love to see a hairstyle like that on Tyler, but his dad gets his hair cut if it gets longer than an inch. :sad2: I'm looking forward to the day when he tells his dad, "No, I don't want my hair like that." ;)

And by the way.....welcome back John & Amy & Sophia! Looking forward to those NYC pics! :goodvibes

:bday: I had no idea it was your birthday. Hope things look up tommorow:)

OK, so let me tell you what we did in NYC . . .

Wed: Walked from the hotel at Times Square to Central Park, went to the zoo (very nice and a good suggestion), walked back via 5th avenue and stopped at all the stores (Apple, FAO, Tiffany, etc.). Stopped at Rockefeller Center too, and then back to the hotel and dinner at a nearby brewpub.

Thurs: Took the subway to the station at Battery Park, and because we did not know at first you had to be in one of the first five cars, we had to car hop at every stop until we got to the front of the train. Took the Ferry to the Statue of Liberty on one of the muggiest days in NYC! Took the subway back, and went to dinner at Carmines, had a great Italian meal. Went to see Mary Poppins, and thouroughly enjoyed the show. Late night dessert at the hotel after the show.

Friday: Started the day at the Empire State Building, then went to the American Girl Store (spent several HOURS there - OY - they need a Sports bar there!). Ate lunch at the cafe there. Headed back to the hotel, Dinner at "Juniors" a bakery and sandwich place right by the hotel, then walked to Wicked. Really enjoyed Wicked (Sophia actually liked it better than Mary Poppins!). Late dessert at Juniors after the show.

Saturday: Took the subway to Ground Zero, and walked around there. We also visited the small museum there. We were all very moved. Both Amy and I had tears in our eyes. We then took the subway back up to Central Park and the Natural History Museum. Had lunch at the Natural History Museum, and toured the museum. Walked back up along all the posh apartment buildings beside the park, and walked over to the Dakota where John Lennon was shot. Walked a bit through Central park and then took a Hansom Cab ride through the park. Cab back to the hotel, quick dinner at Junior's again, and then decided just to walk around Times Square on our last night. Lots of people, people EVERYWHERE! Saw four different "Spidermen"

I have to say we only ran into a few really rude and/or mean people. Many, many, more nice people who were kind and helped us out.

We were really freaked out when we got home today and heard on the news about the fire at Ground Zero - we were just there several hours before that fire started!

Photos coming next.

sounds like a blast:) ....lots of walking though. My daughter is not into American Girl yet ...I heard it could get really expensive so she could wait....she's not five for another month and a half. I'm glad you had a good time and made it back safely:thumbsup2

Great pics John! But.....EEEEEWW! Who threw up all over Mickey?! :rotfl2: Hey, that piano thing Sophia was walking on looks like what was in Tom Hank's movie "Big". And the Apple store is so cool! But I'm confused....Is that glass structure in front of the store?
