The Yearly Trip to Princess Ashlyn's Florida Castle! March 2010 PTR

Those are so cute! :goodvibes

I'm catching up! Your daughter is such a cutie pie!

Thank you both! And welcome to my PTR, alleymaxx! :wave2: I got on to check DIS and saw that there were some new posts on this. I clicked on over while my husband was sitting on the couch not very far from the computer, not thinking about that BIG picture of those pillowcases that I'm trying to keep secret. :scared: It doesn't help that we have a 21" computer monitor. :surfweb: But he either didn't look up during that second it was on the screen or he is hiding it for my benefit. We had ordered a new netbook and it just came in today so he's been playing with his toy so I'm sure he was pretty oblivious to it all. :rotfl:

We got another box from my MIL! She made a little shirt for Ashlyn. She warned us that the ears weren't perfect (she called it the crooked ear MM shirt) but I think it's adorable. The bows on the shoulder almost make it looked ruched when it's on and I love the monogram.

IMG_3712.jpg

I also got my shirt to put the iron transfer on... still waiting on Ashlyn's. I would have my shirt ready if, well, I didn't use up our iron transfer paper on the pillowcases. :rolleyes1 It would have helped if I remembered to pick up some last time I went to the store, too. :confused3 Oh well. :) At the latest I can get some transfer paper on Monday and get it done. Maybe by then Ashlyn's shirts will have come in and I can do them all at the same time. I'm getting a little obsessed with this whole iron transfer thing. :)

Oh, I was sneaky again lately. I guess I was in the sneaky mood after I hid the pillowcases. Well, I had emailed my dad asking him if he'd like a copy of the 2010 Birnbaum's Guide to Walt Disney World (I have a couple of books like this, and I'm waiting for another to arrive, but my parents always picked up the latest Birnbaum's Guide so it's a favorite... brings back great memories). Well, he said of course he would, if we had an extra copy. Well, all I said was "okay, expect a package soon" and ordered one off Amazon.com. I didn't lie to my Daddy, I was just vague enough so he couldn't try to talk me out of buying him one. :) He was excited about it when he received it, though, and said he was going to start reading it that day. :cloud9:

Oh, and as I was writing this Aaron came home for lunch and I found out that more than likely he will not be able to come with us. :furious:and  all at the same time. Not towards him whatsoever, just towards the situation. I'm still going to hold onto the glimmer of hope there still is, but I'm not going to keep my hopes up, either. Either way it will be a wonderful trip and if Aaron can't go I'll be taking our new netbook with us so I can send him pictures and stuff. :) Could be worse, right?

Might I add (since this is a super long post already :lmao:) that Ashlyn is definitely a toddler now, tantrums and all! I mean, wow! :scared1: Aren't the terrible 2's supposed to start when she's, oh I don't know, 2?! :rotfl:

I read through the entire Disney Theme Movie Night thread and there are just so many great ideas! I knew I just had to try it out. I have to change it up a bit (especially the activities) since Ashlyn is just too young for some of them. We had our first movie "night" on Saturday. It was actually a movie morning. We were planning on watching 101 Dalmatians since we just purchased it. We had chocolate chip pancakes...

IMG_3725.jpg

... and dalmatian milk.

IMG_3724.jpg

So I say we planned on watching 101 Dalmatians because while we were cleaning up the breakfast dishes, the power went out. Our netbook was all charged up, though, and there are a few movies on the hard drive so we ended up watching Up instead.

Sunday we finally sat down and watched 101 Dalmatians. Afterwards Ashlyn did a little sticker activity. She hasn't used stickers before so I thought it was a perfect opportunity. I printed off a coloring page of one of the dalmatians and got out some circle stickers I had lying around. We called the activity "Put the Spots on the Dalmatian!" Most of the spots weren't really on the dog, but who cares. She had a BLAST!

We are definitely going to be doing this again! We actually talked about doing it every 2 weeks or so. I plan to make the movie nights more elaborate as Ashlyn gets older. I'm thinking the next movie night will be either The Little Mermaid or Finding Nemo... not sure which, though. We'll probably only get one movie night in March since we'll be gone for our WDW trip that month, but we already have the movie picked. We are going to buy The Princess and the Frog the day it comes out and have the movie night the following Saturday! Yay!!!

Very cute! We do movie night pretty much every Friday, with take out. It's fun! :)

You're movie morning turned out so cute! I love the dalmation milk in the nice glasses- kids always love those little extra touches. :)

I love all the shirts and outfits! Those tiny little socks are just too cute! Oh, and I'm doing the same Jedi Mickey shirt for my son.

That's awesome that you do it each week. I wasn't sure how Aaron would feel doing it very often (with all the themed touches and stuff) so I asked if he would want to do it every 2 weeks or once a month and he said "every two weeks, of course!" I guess he liked it more than I thought he would. :goodvibes

Thank you! I loved that Jedi Mickey shirt when I saw it. I have also been contemplating making a Star Wars shirt for Ashlyn for when/if we go to DHS. I love the graphic with Yoda that says "Judge me by my size, do you?" or something like that. If I don't make it for the trip I might make it for her to wear whenever we have a Star Wars theme movie night.

Yep, we loved that Yoda shirt too- it was hilarious! I'm making Jace 4 shirts and three of them are Star Wars so you can see where his head is!

Can't wait to read more of your plans! :)

A few days ago I finally made my reservations for our rental car and our stay at the Navy Lodge for the 2 nights before and the 1 night after our stay at Disney. So that's awesome! It wasn't the most exciting part of the trip planning, but a definite necessity. ;) It feels SO good to have all that stuff taken care of and now I can just focus on little, fun things.

I really want to start making a list soon of what we want to pack. I need to choose a few key toys and stuffed animals for Ashlyn because I want her to feel comfortable with things from home, but I also want to pack light. I don't want to be weighed down with a bunch of luggage when there is a good chance it will just be Ashlyn and me (before meeting up with my dad, of course) and I want plenty of room to bring home new stuff! :rotfl:

The other day I realized that I don't have a whole lot of time before I leave! There are only 16 days before I get on a plane. That means 15 days to do stuff. 14.5 days if you take into account that it is already after 1:30pm! When I realized that my butt really got into gear starting yesterday morning and I've been running around getting the house cleaned up and trying to think of all the little things I want to do. Like I really want a sign to put on the door saying something like "I get to meet my Grandpa for the first time!" or something since the whole reason for this trip is for Ashlyn to meet my Daddy. :goodvibes Wow, just thinking of that makes all the stress melt away. I'm not sure what I want to do for the sign yet, though. The fact that I got the 2010 Passporter in the mail yesterday doesn't help me get anything done, though. lol It's my first time getting it and I'm really liking it so far.

I'm also looking forward to going to Target and checking out the Dollar Spot for cute little things before we head down to Disney. I haven't been to Target in a loooooooooooong time! Last time I was there there were a ton of cute Disney things. Hopefully there will be some this trip, too.

Oh, and just a little note, I'm going to go ahead and just have this PTR as our March PTR and not include September (though I just realized it still says October in the title. :lmao:) because we may not be taking the September trip. If schedules allow, we may go to Alabama to visit Aaron's family in September instead. Especially if Aaron gets to go with us next month. Aaron's mom works at an elementary school so it will depend on whether she can get some time off and stuff, too. But if we decide to go to Disney (or if his parents decide to come down, too!!! Oooohhh, totally talking to Aaron about that when he gets home.) I'll make sure to type up another PTR for that. :)

Thanks for letting me ramble a little bit and clear my mind. Time to go get some more stuff done!! :laundy:

I was finally able to get the shirts done for Ashlyn and me! They turned out very cute. I'm very happy with them.

IMG_3742.jpg

I can't believe that in 2 weeks (well, 2 weeks from yesterday) we'll be on a plane to Florida! Then on Monday we'll be driving down to Orlando to see my Daddy and Mickey!

I also wanted to show the bag that Aaron's aunt sent for Ashlyn awhile back.

IMG_3745.jpg

The top compartment had a brush and mirror and the bottom was full of ponytail holders. We weren't sure if the stuff had been used or not (could have been picked up at a garage sale or something), so we ditched the brush and ponytail holders, disinfected the bag and mirror, then put in our own comb, brush, and hair stuff. Now that Ashlyn's hair has been long enough to play with, I just love this thing. Especially since it has Disney princesses all over it. princess: It is definitely coming with us on our trip. I know she'll be so cute in her Disney shirts (and possibly a tiara and/or princess dress!) with her hair done like this (or something similar):

IMG_3736.jpg

She felt like being silly when I asked her to smile. :confused3 But here's a smiley picture:

IMG_3738.jpg

I just love her to bits.

She's such a doll! I remember the days of those teeny tiny pig tails on my little girl. She's 9 going on 16 now so those days are long gone, lol.

Thank you! I don't even want to think of Ashlyn getting older. I have a hard enough time already when I look at pictures of her as a brand new baby and it was only 1 1/2 years ago! :lovestruc

love the pillocases!! they look great!!

From my experience with my DD--the tanturums started before two and were seldom but when she turned three--look out!! :scared: Wow, three is challenging is all I got to say.

So sorry Aaron is not going to be able to come to along on your trip with your dad. :( hopefully things will work out so he can.

We are starting our Disney Family Nights 26 weeks out before our trip--so upcoming shortly in March. I am getting excited to do them. Some will be more elaborate than others but I think that is ok.

Passport is one of my favorite books!! It and the UG Walt Disney World with Kids are my favorites!!

Oh, if you go to Target, go to the Easter section if you have one as well. There are some cute little Disney things tucked into the goodies area.

cute shirts! awe, what a cutie :cutie:

:yay: :yay: two weeks!!! :yay: :yay:

It feels like I'm running out of things to update about because the trip is so close! All the reservations are made and all that good stuff. I have a few things, but I'll try to think of something else, too. I'm already looking forward to writing my TR! Wait... that'll mean that my trip is over. :sad1: Maybe I'm not looking forward to it as much as I thought. :lmao:

love the pillocases!! they look great!!

Thanks! I've been good and still haven't even shown Aaron so it will be a surprise for everyone. That is quite the accomplishment for me! :lmao:

Uh oh, so I have more to look forward to?! She is super cute with that pouty lip pushed out as far as possible, though. It's easy to think of that afterwards, at least. :)

So sorry Aaron is not going to be able to come to along on your trip with your dad. :( hopefully things will work out so he can.

Thanks. Yeah, it'll be a real bummer. But we're still doing everything we can to see if it can happen.

How fun! I hope you post about it on your PTR! I love seeing what everyone does. We just decided that we'll be doing Finding Nemo this weekend.

Passport is one of my favorite books!! It and the UG Walt Disney World with Kids are my favorites!!

I've been hearing good things about many of the books directed towards kids. I'm definitely going to be buying some (including the UG you mentioned) before our next trip. :)

Oh, if you go to Target, go to the Easter section if you have one as well. There are some cute little Disney things tucked into the goodies area.

Cool! Thank you so much for the tip! I'll definitely go check it out.

cute shirts! awe, what a cutie :cutie:

Thanks!

:yay: :yay: two weeks!!! :yay: :yay:

I KNOW!!!!!! :rotfl:

I can't believe you're going so soon!!! It is pouring and cold here today with another possibility of snow. Disney just sounds so magical right now!!!

subbing!

Your DD is so cute! I'm so glad your dad is finally going to get to meet her! :lovestruc

My dad died of cancer at 63 while I was pregnant with DD (she was born 6 weeks after he died, on what would have been his 64th birthday), so I know how it is. I'm sorry about your mom. Cancer really does suck, I agree. It's hard enough having a parent not get to meet your child, but living far away from your dad must be hard. He's going to pack himself in your suitcase and come home with you! :rotfl2:

I love those mickey oreos! What a great idea! We can't eat oreos (food allergies) but I'm going to come up with some kind of cookie to cover in chocolate and put ears on now!

I love your movie "theme" days. DS won't watch an entire movie. He gets about 20 minutes in and gets either bored or scared. Yesterday I tried to get him to watch beauty and the beast and he turned it off and told me the beast was "too grumpy for him to watch".

DD will be 16-17 months on our trip in September, so I can't wait to see how yours goes! I have no idea how DD will be at that age because DS was late at everything and she's early at everything so far! Is she talking? Care to explain to me what a normal baby is like? (Poor DS, me calling him not normal. That's not a nice Mommy thing of me to do. :sad2: But he didn't speak in sentences until over 2.5 and he still mumbles when he's anywhere but home! He's lazy and shy which is a terrible combination in a 3 year old! In his defense, he always made himself perfectly clear, he was a very good pointer, and he used one word at a time very effectively! :rotfl:)

The clothes and pillowcases are too cute. I'd love to get some pillowcases for DS and DD but I have no idea how the process works. Would you mind explaining it to me? (You can send me a PM if you don't want to do it here!)

Oh, and I thought the "Daddy" shirt looked fine, so I must be missing something!

Can't wait to read more!

I know, I can't believe how soon we are leaving! 10 days until we leave for Jacksonville and 12 until we'll be on Disney property!!! It seem like all my spare time is spent on the DIS and I'm always wanting to watch the vacation planning DVD. I still haven't watched it all the way through because something always comes up, but I don't mind having it on in the background. :goodvibes

On Charlefours's PTR she asked what the top 10 things you are most looking forward to for your WDW vacation. Making that list just made me even more excited! Mine is:

1. Getting to see my dad after 2 years.
2. My dad and Ashlyn meeting for the first time! I mean, oh my goodness I am SO excited for this! :hyper:
3. Dinner somewhere special!!! I can't mention it in this PTR because it is a surprise for my dad and he knows I'm writing this so I don't want to say anything in case he reads it!!! But I will most definitely be writing all about it in my TR.
4. Getting my daughter her very first princess dress, tiara, and shoes (if she was old enough for BBB, we'd be there!). princess:
5. Going to Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and (possibly) DHS for the first time.
6. Riding my favorite rides like Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. pirate:
7. Riding new rides like Kilamanjaro Safari and maybe trying out Baby Swap to get on other favorites (like the mountains in MK) and new rides (like EE).
8. Decorating the hotel room when we check in at Pop (I have a few surprises up my sleeve for everyone). :upsidedow
9. Seeing the World through my daughter's eyes.
10. Getting my daughter's picture taken with Princess Tiana! I also need a picture with her and Pocahontas and Mulan. She has her pic with all the other princesses from our lunch at CRT last trip. We're throwing a Disney princess party for her 2nd birthday in September and I want to do something cool with all the pictures. Maybe a "Name That Princess" game? Hmmmm.... :scratchin

I want to get packing so badly already!!! I am going to wander through the house this weekend making a list of everything I want to pack (I've already started a list in my head) and go ahead and put aside the things I know we won't need between now and then (like the special Disney shirts). We've got so much planned this weekend outside of preparing for the trip that we're going to be super busy!!! It'll make the time go quickly, though, and get us closer to our trip! :cool1:

Your DD is precious!

So how did it go when you took her at 2 months old? As you know I’m taking an infant too, and I’m hoping it goes smoothly? Any tips or advice for taking a 10 week old?

I’m sorry to hear about your mother. My Mom passed away in September of 2008 , ((she was 51)) Unfortunately we had a falling out years ago and things were left under bad circumstances. I regret everyday that things had to be they way they were. She was never able meet any of her grandkids and I regret that more then anything else. It sounds like you and your mother had a great relationship though, and I bet you have some great memories that will last a lifetime.

We “might” be at Epcot on the same day as you. I believe that’s one of our “open” days, so I think we will do Epcot and Magic Kingdom. We’ll keep an eye out for you.

I’m loving the shirts and pillowcases….. VERY COOL!!

That is so awesome that Ashlyn and your Dad are going to meet for the first time. My Dad lives in California and we live in Colorado, so I understand how hard it is not to have “grandpa” around. I however was lucky and actually had my dad in the delivery room for both my Children’s births. So he got to meet them both right away.

Going back to one of your earlier posts about your DD being breech…. My DS was breech for the last 2 months… Actually he was flipping and flopping around for two months. I even had a C-section scheduled because he was breech, but he flipped at the last minute and I was lucky enough to have a ******l birth. However due to all the flipping and flopping he wrapped his umbilical cord around his neck 3 times and almost suffocated when I pushed him out. It was really scary and he was taken away from me and into the NICU right after birth. Now he’s a healthy beautiful 10 week old. J

Anyway….. I’m looking forward to reading more…. We both leave REALLY soon!!! YAY.
