My name is Wyndi, and my daughter, Tennessee, and I will be cruising for the first time! We are very, very excited to be sharing this trip with our friends, the Schillers, and with all the other Disney cruise enthusiasts. I am off to explore the boards!!

:welcome: Wyndi and Tennessee - happy to have you!

I know we have been over this...

What are the rules for bringing your own beverages on board?

So long as you carry it on and it fits through the scanner, you can bring on as much as you would like. Remember that you will have to carry it/roll it until you can get into your cabin. We always get beer and Pepsi and a bottle or two of Rosa Regale.

...and my husband and I will be going on the Panama Canal cruise. We are so excited! When we first started planning for this cruise, I was so bummed because I couldn't find any additional information about it, and couldn't seem to find anyone else who was going. Then I looked on the DISboards and have been following this thread ever since! I didn't chime in until now because I'm kind of shy :flower3:, but we'd be interested in joining the FE group and in going to the SoCal meet at DL on 10/24 (hope it's okay even though we're newbies!).

:welcome: PIXZPWR. So happy to see you posting. I love it when folks come out of 'lurkdom'. This is really a great bunch so ask away if you have questions.

Well, it is my Friday as far as work goes. Tomorrow I am off to Tampa (Spring Hill to be specific) to deliver a puppy to a very dear friend. Can't wait. I am sure that I will miss most of what happens this weekend here but will try and catch up Monday when I get back.

Welcome PIXZPWR!! Looking forward to meeting you in October!

OOH! Even Better! We'd get to see it and there wouldn't be all those pesky passengers crowding CC! And maybe they'd even let us all come on board for a tour!:banana::banana: (Hey, a girl can dream, can't she??? :)
Actually, I was hoping for the same thing...I'd be up for a "Disney Dream" excursion (I'd wink here, but my phone won't let me) =0)
I hope everyone has a wonerful day!!

So much English and yet we need translations! We have English English, Scottish English, American English and Australian English. Whew!

If you mean a travel bed for an infant or a small child, yes they have those. They are called Pack N Plays here.

Shushh - do you mean a port-a-cot, or a proper cot ? (Crib to those in the US). I've def. Seen photos of travelcots in cabins ....

Neither ship has "cots" at least the American terminology for cot. There are no space. They do put in a pack and play for the wee ones to sleep in but it takes up virtually ALL the available floor space. So if you mean "cot" as in "baby crib", that's what you'll get.

You *Will* find plenty to do on Castaway Cay, but you likely will not be able to book parasailing and some boat adventures on the day because they fill up. Bikes and snorkling should not be a problem.

LOL! I shouldn't use the term so loosely! I generally use "cot" because I am happy to get whatever version of it the hotel/ship will give me whether it be the travel variety or the real thing.

But yes, I meant the pack'n'play or portacot. We had one on the Magic to my request of a "cot" so I just assumed that I could keep using the term!

But thank you all! I shall amend my request to DCL straight away for a pack and play instead.

welcome PIXZPWR and all other new members.

When we did the TA we bought one of those liter boxes of wne and put it in our carryon. We thought it sh.ould be safer than the bottle. It worked out very well. We had it in our room and had no problem bringing a glass of wine up to the dining room. We even brought on two cases of water because they charge around $40 a case. Even though the water on the ship is good, we like the bottled water to take some medication and to take on the excursions

Anyone from Connecticut or around Merritt Island FL going?

Any retirees going?

I missed some posts yesterday somehow.

:welcome: to all the new posters. Glad you are joining, our goal is to have the DIS take over the ship. :cool1: It's never to late to join activities (except maybe the Secret Mickey?). Post #1 has lots of info including a link our PC website.

Sorry for all of those that had to cancel :grouphug: We had to cancel the 2008 PC cruise but we weren't too disappointed - it was for a very good reason - DD!

I hope all 3 ships are there for the photo op that would be soo cool.

Great thread about this: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2516872

If your youngest is not potty trained you can also request a "diaper genie" for those not so pleasent smelling diapers! ;) I'm hoping we won't need that this cruise but DD is still being stubborn about the potty training, at least she's sitting on the toilet again.

We've never done this but I believe you can also request child size hangers for their clothes. Since we live in FL, I usually just bring our own hangers (the free ones I've gotten when buying clothes - child and adult) and then just leave them on the ship.

I'm hearing they have changed the rules for the hard ticket parties. In the past you could get into the park at 4pm with your ticket for the Halloween or Christmas party. Rumor has it this year you will not be able to.

This rumor comes out every year, and every year they have been letting ticketholders in after 4. The staggered entry helps with crowd control. If they make ticketholders wait until 7 there will be vast lines outside the park at 7 waiting to get in. Not saying Disney isn't stupid enough to go to the 7 PM only rule, but they haven't done it yet.

I guess the DCL transport is the best way then for those requiring a child seat

DCL transport uses motorcoaches. You can't use a child seat in those. They don't have seat belts. If you're set against your child traveling outside of a child seat, they're not an option.

welcome PIXZPWR and all other new members. . .

One of my roommates (Eilean, aka MomE) is from Vernon, CT. All 4 of us will be retired by then - my cousin Iola is the last hold out - she was supposed to retire August 1. It didn't happen.

Welcome to all the new cruisers!

I would think the would want Castaway Cay in the photo op...if not all 3 ships would have to be at sea. If not taken advantage of at that time, they would have to have the Wonder sail back through the canal. Which we know won't be happenning for awhile. :)

It was a VERY dark, rainy morning. And the idiots were out in force. At least 3 times I had my windshield blasted with so much water I couldn't see anything and prayed there wasn't anyone stopped in front of me. And then this evening we were heading up to a cousin's house for dinner and hit "parking lot" traffic, while on the radio they were saying tornados in the area and to get inside safe place. We were sitting right in the path of supposed tornados but thankfully the storms weakened and the warnings ended without any problems (except anxiety)

Started out like a novel.... thought I might need to get a hot chocolate & a throw to curl up and read ;)

I am just set on obeying the law. All the other transportation I've found are cars, vans or limos which you are required to have a child seat, of course. Bus and motorcoahes do not require child seats and that is why we are probably going to have to use DCL. But now that I know it is only $30pp (and not $60! :scared1:) I'm just gonig to use DCL and let them take care of luggage.

I honestly still don't understand, and probably never will, why buses don't have seat belts.

Glad to hear you and yours are safe! I have a lot of facebook friends up in that area since I grew up there and everyone was posting about how crazy the weather was. That sounds more like the spring weather up there!

the Raddison is Ok with us. Just let us know the time. If there is anyone staying at one of the other hotels and you need a ride to the Raddison let us know.

Will check again tomorrow for the shuttle to the hotel and then Lax. Thanks to everyone for the info,
Thanks I will check the hotel web site.
Hi All,
I FINALLY get to join you in the PIF dance...I can hear the Hallelujah Chorus!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::banana::banana::banana:

This is the first time I will be able to book early (gold) and we have never had a problem (knock on wood). Yes, we have been unable to book things before we left, but they were always available once on the ship. This is especially true of Palo. I hope that will still be the case...:goodvibes

Looks like you got these answered already, but I received some new info from DCL last night to #3 that may help...They usually assign 50-75 days out. Right now Cat 11B is completely booked but 11A has spots and there are a ton in 10 and 9...don't know if that affects you, but it was good for me to know since we are an 11B GTY.

Can't help you with the shuttle info, but if your hotel is on S. Harbor, the only Disney resort near there is Paradise Pier Hotel (also on Harbor, south of D-land)

Ditto to 2 and 3!!

Whoops, thanks for that info, I guess I jumped the gun when multiquoting:goodvibes--Can I assume these are both still available (one start time means one group--eeek)??

Lynne, who is the new addition to your signature? That is one CUTE puppy!!!

Let me know when and where you want to meet for the CC 5K and I will add it to the program

Everyone stay safe out there in this crazy weather!

~Melissa
Thats ruby ****y, the little beagle girl, I felt bad I just had Orly on my sign.
$60 per person is high. I'm staying at Candy Cane Inn and booking some kind of private shuttle. Several are mentioned on the Disboard Disneyland board - a TERRIFIC reference resource, btw.

There is a pool bar and lots of seating around the pool at the Radisson - we held the DIS meet there before the 2008 5 night double dip.

Of course there are bugs in the tequila - isn't the really good stuff supposed to have a worm in the bottle?

We're going to Fish lips for dinner - I may have room for you two in the van, if I have 3rd row seating.

couldn't you just each room book a table? I was able to book for both rooms of our ressie.

Done - you are absolutely right - that's what happened! Thank YOU for pointing it out.

That's so cute! Did you make that?

yes. I'm getting a private shuttle - there's a list on the Disneyland board.

Fish Lips can be crowded. We're driving there for dinner, but we might be better off meeting in a public (no pay) space, ykwim?

So sorry for the families dropping out - we had to do that on the Western repo - it's a sad day.

What time do you think you will be at fish lips, its just maybe some folk might not want to go with kids, would 6pm be any good for a meet at the raddison????? would that fit in with your eating plans?
I still fancy fish lips but we could do both.

good morning

Boy, between vacation and getting the kids back to school I am about 30 pages behind!

Tried to book the zipline and they knew nothing about it and Esmerelda wasn't in. Waiting for her call.

But I did have a question for anyone out there who has done this tour. My 12 year old has limited function of his right hand and will not be able to grasp the handle with both hands. He will be able to do the walking and climbing no problem. I asked about it on the phone and she had to ask someone else and came back to say he needs to hold on with two hands or he will go too fast, but we should just talk to the guides and they'll figure it out.

I realize he will not be able to brake on his own, but he can hang on fine. I'm thinking he will have to go tandem with someone who can basically do the braking for both of them. My big fear is getting there and having them say he can't do it. Has anyone had any experience with this? He has done a short zip line around here, but there was no braking necessary.

Good morning everyone!

I do know they ride tandem. Anyone who wanted go upside down had to have someone go with them. Hope you hear back from them soon with good news!

We can be the official translators for the cruise!!!

I used to work remotely from home for an organization in London, England, and I also had to travel to London a few times a year. We used to always laugh about how we both spoke English, but we spent a lot of time trying to understand what each other was trying to say.

Well, as Winston Churchill once said, "two friendly nations separated by a common language". ;)

Here's what I can tell you about the Photo op. I was told to use common sence when it came to this, but my friend still will not confirm or deny anything. Think about it. We leave on the 6Th at 5:00 PM. The Magic leaves CC at 5:00 PM. The Dream should be out on a Media cruise that day. Now it would be to dark to do it on the 6Th by the time all three could meet up on the Day we are At CC the Nagic and Dream should be having sea days as of right now. The Magic is due back on the 8Th. Now we all know from past cruises that it take roughly 10-12 hours to get back to PC from CC. So the best time to get all three together while at sea is the morning if the 7Th. Now given this, I would have to day that if they did it at sea, or even while we are docked at CC, it would be a morning to early afternoon shoot. I would guess it would be a early afternoon if they want CC in the photo so it would have guests on the island to make it look busy.

I Wonder when and if they will tell us, onboard? But they cant just take off from cc can they? gonna have to be before we dock?

I am not sure I understand the question Lyne but I will give it a shot. Only one ship can be docked at CC. So the Magic leaves CC on the 6Th for a sea day on the 7Th the day we are at CC. Now I did forget something in can't wrap my mind around. The Dream sailing on the 5th is only to be for three nights. Well if that is the case the Magic and the Dream would both be back on the 8Th. That means one of a few things. 1. The Magic would have to dock at a unused pier at PC to offload the passengers from that 5 night and to load up for the 7 night. I figure the Dream would get the DCL terminal because you don't want to put the Media and TA's in a non DCL terminal. So that raises a few question marks if this is really going to happen. 2. I guess they could always go to Nassau on the 8th and make it a four night cruise. This would give TA's a chance to sample some of the DCL excursions. I guess only time will tell. Oh. Also, I don't think they will tell us until it is about to happen, but this is just one guys opinion.

I so hope it happens! The photo ops of the Magic and Wonder were taken at sea so I would be it would be am or as we are leaving CC. Hoping to do the sting ray thing.
