Expedition Everest Challenge May 5 @ 9:30 2012

I need to pick up the packet for my husband but can't find the packet pickup authorization form. I printed the waiver but where is the other form???

Thanks for the locations :) I will call when they open at 10am. Fingers crossed they have my size!!!!

packet pick up went well today :) We are in wave 6 and there are 8 waves. The speaker did throw out the number 5,000 as well so that must be an accurate count of how many runners there will be.

It says each wave leaves in 6 min increments so we won't be running until 10:06!!! wow and the last wave doesn't go til 10:18.

The info doesn't list Flame Tree as being open so I guess that won't be a good meeting place - unless you can somehow get to the back of the restaraunt without going through the restaraunt?? If I don't hear from anyone before tomorrow I will swing by there to see if I can get to the outside table area and if I can't I will head over to the Nemo line up area.

Since the last wave doesn't go til 10:18 i will plan to show up at 11:30 but will probably stick around for 15 - 20 minutes so hopefully I'll catch a few of you in that time :)

So, was anyone at the 2:00 talk at packet pick up?? I tried looking around but didn't recognize anyone but I would only recognize a few of you anyway - especially without your outfits.

So I just picked up my packet. The special gift for 5-timers was a stuffed yeti with a Mickey hat. It's so cute but I dont know how I'm going to get it home. I may have to carry it under my arm onto the plane! I'll post a photo after the trip.

I'm a little worried because the sample clue at pickup was super hard. I thought the one sent via email was much easier so hopefully the clues tomorrow will be more along those lines.

Something new this year is that there's a little square graphic on the bib that looks almost like a QR code, but it didn't scan. I didn't notice it until I was on the bus, so if someone has a chance to ask about what it's for, I'd appreciate if you can post and let us know!

We were told at our briefing that you may ask others around you for help with the clues. I think it was because everyone seemed more worried about that then anything. Believe they are more concerned with people who want to place to follow everything exactly. The rest of us are just there for a fun night. She said everyone would finish.

I noticed the 'code' too on the bibs- Will be curious to see if they are all the same or different...

Was glad to see they had pins left (esp when I got there as I had been roped into working today so got there at 3 vs 12) Really didn't like the shirts but did splurge on the 'In training 26.2' magnet.. Didn't see the test clue

Started to feel 'blah' and the beginnings of illness descend this morning so have been loading up on OJ and drugs so really hope to either knock it out by tomorrow or delay it till Sunday.. Sigh was hoping to get a race illness free but not looking great...

Kim, I missed you by about 10 minutes at packet pick up!

We're here - spent the morning at MK, then did packet pick up, checked in and hit the pool. Dinner at DHS with Star Tours dessert, now chilling in the room. A whole lotta nothing planned tomorrow.

I saw a note somewhere that the code on the bibs is a test of some sort and has nothing to do with the race. Weird.

We're in Wave 4! LOVE the tattoos in the swag bag :)

I'll keep an eye out for you guys - happy racing to all!

DARN!!! too bad we missed each other :(

Hopefully see you tonight anyway :)

Today we are heading to Kona for 11am ressie (hoping to run into Alicia as she's leaving her ressie) and DTD to watch a friends DD play her violin in an orchestra and then relax at the pool and maybe watch a movie to keep our footsies rested and ready to go!!

SEE YOU TONIGHT EVERYONE - might not know who you are but that's ok, maybe i should just treat everyone like I know who they are??? HAHA:lmao:

Supposedly there was a sample clue at packet pick-up, but we missed it. Did anyone else see it, and can you post it here? Thanks.

We left Kona at 10:20, so I knew we'd be missing you guys by awhile.:rotfl: Sorry we couldn't say hello, but maybe we'll see each other later tonight!!!

Enjoy the race tonight, everyone, and remember, HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!:yay::woohoo:
(I'll be in Wave 3 with a lime green shirt on.)

Team Air Force Won, Bib#1123, wearing decidedly NON-AF colors (yellow with black tiger stripes, starting in Wave 3. See ya'll there! :)

(BTW, *totally* disappointed with the 'expo' and the selection of shirts.) :(

Dressed and ready to go! Gonna meet GoofyDiane to take the bus over! Wave 1 - see y'all there and at 11:30!!

There was a sample clue, but it was no help. It had the answer basically in an another form in the first line.

We are resting, I'm kicking back, having a few beers. This is a light, easy going run for me and wanna have some fun! We are going to get dressed in our sailor dresses and head out in an hour.

Congrats to everyone who ran last night/partied this morning! :thumbsup2

Let me know how you did. the results are up at...

Team Stoked Coconuts did awesome as we shaved about 3 minutes off our usual pace and came in 38:11 for the run portion and 33:13 for the scav hunt portion.

Had SOOO much fun and was SO excited to run into a few of you. It was so great to meet you AmazingAct, Slupin, and sbmommy(? I think that's what you said your name was?)

Sorry I missed the meet up - DH was NOT at the spot we were supposed to meet so we spent 45 minutes trying to find him and that made us miss the meet up :*(

Shaved a Measly 55 sec off last years time.. Not what I wanted but found it a lot more crowded than last year and they checked clues a lot closer at the end than last year but liked they added clocks to the mile markers :)

Congrats all! :cheer2: We saw Cripey shortly after arriving in the parking lot, but nobody else from here. By the time we got our medals, put some fluids and food into us and hit the restrooms, it was well past the meet-up time. What a madhouse! :sad2:

We had a lot of fun prior to the after-party, though! Turned in a respectable 38:51 on the 5K - our best joint venture yet. And then we blew it with 42:50 on the scavenger hunt. :rotfl: Between the darkness and not having my reading glasses, I couldn't read most of the ding-dang clues. My DS was exhausted and not remotely interested in doing them. For most, we took a best guess based on pretty much nothing, turned it in, and the CM gave us the right answer. Probably should've just asked them to help from the get-go and shaved 10-15 minutes off our time!

Rode Dinosaur, Primeval Hurl and Everest and stood in the looooooong line for bag check before calling it a night around 1:30. Latest my boy's ever been up and he was TOAST. But he had a blast and wants to do it again. :thumbsup2

Back home now and facing the reality of a Monday... oh to be back at the pool!
