Boo to you! MNSSHP official thread 2013

We went to the Halloween party a few years ago when DD was 4. I don’t know if we were doing something wrong but we hardly got any candy and what we did get was the no brand name junk candy…you know, the waxy chocolates…yuck. They handed out one or two pieces of this junk candy to each of us. I can understand giving the adults one or two pieces but when I hear about handfuls of candy being given to the kids, that wasn’t our experience. In a way it was good because I didn’t really want all that candy, particularly junky candy and I didn’t have much to lug home. When we combined it all into one bag, it was probably a quarter to one third full; hardly the full bags for each child that is reported here.

According to the map, we did hit all the trails and yes, I did know there were multiple stations along each trail. We did skip a couple with long lines. We spaced out our trick or treating doing some right at the start of the party and then some later on after the first parade. DH and I weren’t dressed up but DD4 looked cute in her princess dress and she had her hair done at BBB that afternoon. We still had a good time and we are going again this year and will trick or treat for her. It will be interesting to see if we have a better experience with it.

It just would have been nice to get a few kit kats, snickers, reese peanutbutter cups, etc.

About how long did the trails take to do? Was wondering if it takes a while to do those, and maybe the tiki room one?

We did the trail at Splash MT as soon as it opened. There might have been 10 people ahead of us. It took about 5 minutes to walk through it. Then we headed to POTC and that stop took about 5 to 10 minutes. The Tiki room had more of a crowd by the time we reached there. It kept moving and was 10 minutes top.

We didn't attempt candy again until after 9pm and the stop by Stitch was LONG and we walked out of it. We had received handfuls of candy at Splash MT, so there really was no need to get any more.

Starnge question...but, has anybody noticed how crowded Pecos Bill's is between 4-7 on MNSSHP nights? Thought about getting to park early and eating there before party started. Just wondering....

We arrived at Pecos around 5:30. With a special diet, it took us a good 30 minutes to get food. Ds and I grabbed a table. The place was empty when we first sat down. DH said it took over 30 minutes to get the food because of the special diet. By the time he sat down, there were no empty tables around us.

How early do you need to grab a spot to watch the Villains Mix and Mingle? I'll be at the party this Friday!

We got there 5 minutes before show time. Most people were standing where their villain was going to come out. So there were plenty of spots in between to watch the show. However, if you wanted to get in line after the show, that made it difficult,, especially for Mal and Dr. Facilier.

Did they give away fruit snacks like last year?

We didn't see any fruit snacks at the few stops we stopped at.

Can I order shirts online? We don't check in until Nov 1st, last night of the party) would like to have shirts to wear to the party but I'm afraid sizes will be sold out by then.

Yes you can. I have seen the Orange MNSSHP party shirts but it says 6-8 weeks for delivery so we couldn't order those. So we ordered the Halloween 2013 shirts, they are black. They are online at the disneystore parks site.

When we went in 2007, they had horrible junk candy that mostly got tossed. Last year we decided to go again and it was good candy and it is the same this year.

My DH and myself filled 3 backpacks worth of candy plus 4 treat bags on top of it last night. We simply looped the candy stations and trails and at the end of the night they empty the bins into the bags of whomever is standing there. We hit up the fruit snacks at the end of the night and have well over 50 large packs of fruit snacks.

We had thought about hitting the trails and some stations around 11:30pm after we've done everything we wanted...is that a good plan to get candy or are we going to find nothing that late?

Do we bring our own trick-or-treat bags? It's my first time at MNSSHP?

They typically provide them when you enter the party. Although they're on the small side so if you want to carry a lot of candy, I'd bring your own. If not i didn't have a problem w the size of the one provided when I went in 2011

The CMs keep the barrels stocked until the party ends. We did the trails right before park closure so our bags were filled with what was left. We didn't get very much chocolate, it seemed like "filler" candy to us, and we picked up a few bananas.

ahhh, so people are looping back and going mutiple times to get so much candy. I don't think we want to spend that much time trick or treating.

If you were going to watch the first parade from frontierland- what time should we go to get a front row spot? We will be there early October.

When I was there last Friday there were people already lined up for the first parade (8:15pm) at 6:20pm along Frontierland. :scared1:

It may be a bit too late to get much unless you ask for more at each stop and move very quickly. Stay away from trails and loop someplace with a short line.

We were only there to see Jack and Sally, we watched Hallowishes from afar and watched the parade. Other than that we were looping all the candy stations to bring home booty for the kids. LOL

I don't want DD to get wind of that...being able to loop around multiple times to get more candy :lmao: because that is what she would want to do.

So how early do you recommend getting a spot for the 2nd parade in frontierland? Easywdw suggests watching the 10:05 villains show then making your way over to frontierland to see the parade... They make it sound empty. But from reports on here it sounds like it might be busier than that.

This is my plan, so I hope it works out. Someone said there were barely any good spots in Frontierland an hour before the second parade last night. That makes me a little nervous, but I am sticking to it. DH will make us leave right after the parade, so I have to get everything else done first.

How horribly long are the lines for Sally and Jack? I would love to meet them but I don't think I want to wait in a really long line.
