Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

My very first SWW trip is soon approaching; I will be there the weekend of June 13-15th.

I have a question (and I know the answer is probably buried in these 240+ pages, but I didn't have time to read every page; sorry about that!)….

I would really like to get in line for Tom Kane's autograph (he was born in my hometown!), so I know to arrive early. I have the VIP Star Wars Tour booked for June 15th, which supposedly ends around 4:00 pm.

My question: when I receive a FP for the autograph session, can I indicate that I would like a FP after 4:00 pm? Is that possible? Or do we take what we get?

I wonder if they'll have a gluten free version of the cupcakes. My boys will love the Darth one, but my DD has a gluten allergy.

While I'm very much looking forward to our day at DHS on June 6, I'm not looking forward to the large crowds, but hey, what can you do. Parade, characters and rides are what we're there for. Not sure if we'll stay for the fireworks, but I'll bring my tripod anyway just in case. It will fit in the locker till I need it.

Finding a spot for the parade will be interesting as I'll be using a scooter. If we're on the sunny side, so be it. Lots of sunscreen and a cooling towel will be available.

if you look at the first post of this thread you'll see the times for the shows at Premiere theater, those are the only ones chaginng. parade,fire works, pmc,jta should remain the same

you get the fp and can't change it with cm but you can exchange it with someone else for a later session

I see that Mickey and the gang wil be meeting during SWW in Darth's Mall which is in Soundstage one. I cannot find that on the official map of DHS. I'm assuming that is because they don't use it all the time. Can anyone show me where it is?

And yes, they should send the flame breathing dragon up to shoot fireballs at the bi-plan with the offensive banners during gay days. Sorry, could not resist.

the only thing I've noticed different about the first weekend in June is the plane flying with the banner overhead.

This is a little bit concerning. So, you all are saying those planes with banners have offensive messages (I'm assuming toward the gay community)? Like what?

There's just one plane that flies over Disney property saying " warning families Gay Days at Disney" and the date.... it's ridiculous... let's not give it more attention that it deserved... back to sww planning.
So I'm surprised that they are actually giving us a specific time for the opening show with stormtroopers

Back in 2003 the FAA restricted air space over Disney World (and Disneyland). Not sure if that's still in effect now a decade later.

No, the park's official opening time is 8am, in the past they have opened as early as 7:20, they have never officially released any opening before 8. So now we know that they will probably open the turnstiles around 7:20 and officially the opening show at Hollywood and Vine street with the stormtroopers it's at 7:30

If the welcome is at 7:30am and we are not interested in celebrity autographs, just going for the parade, to meet characters, visit Darth Maul and do rides - what time should we get to the park on opening Friday and Saturday?

Also, will Darth Maul by Saturday noon time be completely depleted of limited edition merch? Will it be a zoo? Or manageable? thanks!!

If you want to see the opening show be there by 7:20am. Darth's Mall should have LE merchandise for all weekends... some might sell out by weekend 3 but last year there was still some available weekend 4...I like going after 3pm it's more manageable

They will hold everyone behind a rope until the opening show is done, which should be at 7:40 then there will be cm guiding you to the sign up area.

I have an 8:05 THURSDAY June 12 SCI FI reservation, which we were told was a Character dinner with photo Darth and Boba and stormtroopers/Jawas. I'm hoping we can get in early and get my daughter signed up for JTA. Possible???

I asked the lady about the Thursday meeting and she assured me it was correct. I thought only on FRI,Sat,Sun for that. Does this sound right to you?

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't Westboro Baptist Church kind of messages, if you know what I mean.

At this time next week, it's going to be so exciting reading the reports! Weekend IV will be here before I know it. Can't wait!

Thanks. I was wondering what time should we be outside the turnstiles? We were planning on being there between 6:30-6:45. Is that early enough?

Both breakfast at sci fi and dinner at H&V are star wars related everyday until June 15. DHS is opening at 9 non sww days So you could go straight after breakfast to sign up for JTA.
