Luggage allowed on monorail?

We are doing a split stay at BL and then VGF. Are we allowed to take our luggage on the monorail when we leave BLT and go to VGF? I know bell services can transfer luggage, but I'd like to have access to our bathing suits/clothes later that day (before they would show up from bell services).

I think as long as you carry a small carry like bag with just swim wear you can but not on the buses. I did this in 2012 but mine was my back pack. We were only doing one night at the Poly & the other night at the CR. Another suggestion is to take a taxi as you would have all your luggage with you and it isn't that costly. Just my two cents :)

If you do the monorail maybe take a few carry-on bags with what you need then let Disney move the rest over . Never seen people with regular suitcases on the monorail on any trip

You will need to make sure you are using off-peak times for the monorail or you may find yourself having problems doing this having much room for luggage as welll as a family of 10.

From Disney website - "Please note that no luggage or alcohol of any type is permitted on the monorail."

This is what I thought too. OP, if you want to have your bathing suits with you so you can swim at the next resort, I would suggest just using a backpack to put them in, you could then change into them in the locker room by the pool. As for your luggage, just have bell services transfer them for you....it is really easy peasy to do.

I have seen people denied access to the monorail with luggage. I can't imagine that they are going to be happy with 10 people boarding, with luggage. If it were me, I would keep my swimsuits, and anything needed for the day, in a small tote bag. Then take the monorail over.
But, you can give it a try. Just don't be surprised if you're denied access.
There isn't supposed to be any luggage allowed on Disney transportation....other than DME.

Ive done it many times. Nobody even looked at me, never mind speak to me.

But it is against the rules (same applies to buses) and many folks have seen people turned away. My fear is this .... When TEN folks roll up with all their luggage I would be very surprised if they were let on. Now OP after taking the time to roll all their stuff all the way to the monorail from BL, now has to take all their luggage back, go to Bell Services, wait to check it in with all the others who are putting their luggage in hold while they wait for flights etc and do what is necessary to have it sent to the other resort. Doing this is assuming all is good so now they will have to dig out their bathing suits etc for later in the day. OP could lose an hour or more in their day. OR back track to get a couple taxis, go through the load and unload and then the checking in with the VFG Bell services. So much wasted time.

Since Disney will transfer your luggage, why not just do it the easy way by letting them? Throw the suits in a couple backpacks, head on your way and be able to swim later even if your villa is not ready.

Thanks for all of your input! I think we will pack backpacks to leave with bell services (so we can pick them up when we want to swim) and have them transfer the rest. Sounds like the easiest thing to do.

I've never seen anyone with luggage on the monorail (which is why I asked the question in the first place), so it makes sense that luggage wouldn't be allowed.

Good idea!

This is by far the best plan, no muss no fuss.
