Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Very happy you ended with a nice evening and your hubby sounds amazing. I'm sorry I wasn't around to "listen" and help in anyway I could. Perhaps next time we will meet up in the lobby.

Teena...thank you so much for your kind words...and everyone else too.... I am in the lobby with a kid or two. Somehow they still have snack credits! They are buying out the marketplace...sorry.

We will be back. :)

Back from our short trip to Great Wolf Lodge. Even though the room cost about the same (or more) than the BC, it was not Disney. No magic. They tried to make it cute, but I felt a little annoyed by the "not-disney"-ness of it all.

My name is Cari and I am a Disney snob.

Me too, Cari, Disney had basically "ruined" any other hotel/resort, amusement park, parade or fireworks display for me...sigh...what can you do... I know, plan another Disney trip!!! :jumping3:

Hi Everyone, love reading the trip reports!
Even though we just returned a week and a half ago from our amazing family BC/WDW summer trip in our fabulous room, I am returning to the Beach Club next Tuesday for a work conference at the Swan - but I am kidnapping the other girls I work with and making them stay at the Beach Club! I am sure the Swan/Dolphin are both just lovely, have stayed Dolphin in the past - but just can't do it with my "home" so close by and an awesome magical deal to boot! I am arriving next Tuesday, but my friends are checking out next Friday, so I have extended my trip and will be having some solo time for three nights! It's kind of been a dream of mine, does that sound crazy?? Love begin there with my hubby and kids after so many trips together over the years, but really looking forward to just taking it easy and doing what I feel like....

So....any suggestions or tips for any of you YC/BC lovers who have ever taken a solo trip? I have an AP and have absolutely no problem being there alone - especially at Disney, in a place I know so well.

Teena, glad to see you posting...hope you are hanging in there.
-Linda

How are the standard rooms? Are they going to be getting done over again? Was hearing since Beach Club got a refurb on some of the rooms that Yacht Club might. Thanks.

Thank you for the information. Was planning on staying at Port Orleans Riverside but thinking I might like to stay at Yacht Club or Beach Club. I have never stayed at either one of them. Enjoyed my time at Wilderness Lodge but thinking that I spend so much time in Epcot, might be best to look into one of these resorts. I also love Yachtsman Steakhouse and Cape May (dinner) a lot. I also was told that deluxe resorts usually get a discount of 30% come February. Thank you again.

:welcome:

As Katesdad pointed out, info about the rehab on the resort is on Page 1. Beach Club rooms have all been renovated. A renovation of the rooms at YC will happen, but we don't know when.

Please let us know if do end up booking here!

:woohoo:

Pics in the next post....

Thanks for the review and pictures. Do you mind sharing the room number, if you remember?

:goodvibes:

I concur with the pp about the magical travel agent saying check in October for April 2016 deals. Mine said that too.

In my ideal world, my unicorn and I would get a cb room with a fireworks view and a full balcony. Is this possible? Is there a room category that's better for this?

Hope the storm doesn't affect any of your trips. Safe travels.

:welcome: back! I don't think you have posted for awhile, but I could be wrong...

Yes, there are BC rooms with fireworks views and a full balcony. Upper floor is key! For SV- we had one room that had a great view of the MK fireworks and a side view of Illuminations. GV/WV- Some of the Woods View near the EP side of the resort and the East Facing GV rooms may have fireworks views. Some WV rooms have views of Frozen Fireworks towards BW and sometimes Illuminations.

Please let us know if you and your unicorn book an upcoming stay.

:thumbsup2

Hi everyone! We just returned from our first stay at Beach Club and we absolutely fell in love with this resort!!! Thanks for all of the helpful information here. I loved the short walk to Epcot and the fresh new look of the rooms and hallways. The renovations were really well done! My son loved SAB of course.

We booked a Labor Day "magical deal" and paid $202/night including taxes. The price could not be beat. We booked a standard view room and only made requests via online check-in. They were high floor and near elevators. We were supposed to have streamlined check-in but I was having trouble with email on my phone while I was away so I went and checked in upon arrival anyways since I hadn't heard anything. This was at approximately 11:30am. We had a lovely CM, Ronna, help us. She had a room available for us at that time but she explained it was a wheelchair accessible room and described what some of the differences might be. We accepted it because my mother was with me and she is used to having handles in her shower and certain accommodations so we thought it would be nice. I am so glad we were given this room. It was room #2606 and it was HUGE! We had a ginormous balcony (bigger than even a full size balcony) extra space in the room itself and the bathroom and a full pull-out sofa in addition to the two queen beds. We overlooked a grassy area and gazebo roof as well as the covered area where you can eat outside of the marketplace.

I will share pics once I get them uploaded. Thanks again for all the info and help!

Thanks so much for the review!!!

I will (eventually) be adding a whole bunch of recent reviews to the Trip Report section on Page 1. I hope it is ok to add a link to your post.

:goodvibes

We are still waiting for a runner to come but I managed to take a pic of my awesome view the board walk will look nice at night

Gorgeous view from your room!!! Do you mind sharing your room number with us when/if you are back home?

:cool1:

We will be at the yacht club this November and are booked in a standard room. What request would you pick when checking in online? This is a new resort for us so I am unsure of what to request.

Quiet room is not a priority but it would be nice to be closer to the lobby

:welcome: (again- I responded to your ? while I was away) but forgot to say that I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

Hi all. I don't post often but really enjoy all of of your trips reports and useful information so I thought i would share too. We just arrived home today from 8 nights at the YC.

*snip*

Thanks for letting us know about your trip, and once again, I would love to add your review of the trip to this thread's Trip Report section.

Truth! I have a whole chapter in my Hawaii trip report about how the Hilton Waikoloa on the Big Island tried to be like Disney, but failed! From the "Welcome Home", "Have a Magical Day" greeting on our phone, to the monorail and sand-bottom pool, I should have felt like I was at the Beach Club. But I didn't.

:sad2:

Since you can use them over and over for years, I think if you like them, they are a good investment...that is, IF you can choose!! I really like the Castle one....and the Classic Mickey....and.....and....
I agree! I think I'll have to get the castle one for me, and the Luke Skywalker one for DH... ok, I need to start a separate budget just for magic bands...

Quick update on our way to AK...tour guide was wonderful. SIL was cranky, tried to run the day and complained they had no input into the planning of the trip. Overrode my dinner plans and was shocked when we could not find a place for freaking 10 people to eat together..this poed my SIL, and she started to get extra grumpy. She did not understand or realize the effort it took to get meals for 10, all the planning and logistics and trying to work within her restrictions. (No buffets, no character dining, no burgers or such.) soooo tonight we have dinner at Marrakesh. We have not yet had a meal all together because of her...I am getting tired of this....but the tour was great, rooms awesome, everyone else...having a wonderful time. We watched the afternoon parade in MK from the VIP spot and my SIL did not want to, and tried to take the kids away...we said no, and the kids loved it... Same with fireworks. She also bailed on the illuminations fireworks cruise the first night saying it was going to make her sick....sigh.

I'm still catching up on this thread, so there may be more posts, but it seems to me like you are dealing with this as best you can. If she doesn't like your preparations, she is now starting to understand (even if she doesn't admit it) why you made them. And when she wants to leave, she can see that her kids are enjoying themselves. If she's going to be a sourpuss, let her, and leave her behind. Once you've made an effort to include her, if she chooses not to come, tha'ts her problem, not yours!

Omg it is over! The trip with my SIL and 5 nieces/nephews, brother, hubby and dad is winding down. So, the BC is amazing, room, amazing, location...amazing. Pool...guess....amazing!

I was really in a horrible mood all day today. No need to go into details, I am sure your imagination can fill in the blanks. Rode lots of rides. Lots of smiles from dad and kids. SIL....let it gooo let it gooooo...

I am sorry that your SIL nearly ruined things for you. I used to have a similar relationship with my MIL and step-FIL. They're still this way. But over the years I have been able to change my attitude toward them, not caring what they say or think. When they complain about ridiculous stuff, I just smirk and laugh at them behind their backs. You can't change sourpusses like that, who have to be complaining to be happy. But I refuse to let them bring me down any long. Just roll your eyes and note everything down to laugh later on at how ridiculous the whole thing is. It's the best way to survive, and a way that creates minimal stress for you.

*Hugs* and I hope you enjoy Disneyland! We live in California so we go there often and it is such a wonderful place! You will truly enjoy it and find the magic there.

At MCO, waiting for our flight home. While we didn't stay at BC/YC this trip, I did overhear some guest comments that I thought my friends here would enjoy hearing...

At AK, watching the gorilla family along the Pangini trail....the two baby gorillas were playing, wrestling, climbing and having fun. The guest next to us asked the CM if the babies were twins. The CM replied, "No, they are about a month apart." The Guest looked really confused, then asked.....wait for it...."so, do they have the same mom or different moms?"

At DHS, waiting to enter the FP line for Tower of Terror... The guest in front of us asked if she could take her service dog along on the ride.

Yup... It was that kind of weekend.

Wow that poor dog, imagine if he could ride it.

jealous. When we were there in March, each baby stayed near his own mom, and they did not interract with each other.

Just getting around to the comments about the SAB Synchronized Pool Tube Team photo. Glad you all liked it!

Dee, is that a new refillable mug design, or a really old one?

Really old design! We got these mugs on our August 2008 trip, Deluxe Dining Plan (too much food!)

::yes::

You guys are cracking me up!!!! I think Teena should be allowed to wear her swim cap in the lobby too!!!!

Dee: what's in your mug...............Grey Goose Slushy by any chance????

Most of it was oj. Ok, some of it was oj.

:drinking1

And HOW I would love to have seen the looks of the other guest's faces when you guys showed up in the lobby dressed like this!!!!!

We had a couple of people ask. One guy at the pool said his wife saw us out in the lobby and he asked who we were.

:rotfl:

We happened to get lucky and a SV opened up at the BC for nov 6-10. This is our first time staying here and has always been a dream of mine. It'll b my DH myself and our DS (13) would luv any room ideas for our trip.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

As far as room ideas- Not all rooms have a full balcony (about 50% of the rooms have smaller standing only balconies) so if that is important to you, you should add a request for "Full balcony, please" to your reservation. Do you have a preference for location (upper floor, first floor, near elevator/lobby/pool or close to EPCOT)

Check out Post 13- Frequently Asked Questions on Page 1 of this thread with information and further explanation about room requests.

:thumbsup2

Just returned from YC last week and there were a bunch of pool noodles free for guests to use at SAB. They were near the stack of pool tubes and life jackets.

Cool! Good info. I didn't read this message until now, back at home, so I didn't think to look for some when we were there.

I did check the price of noodles (the skinny variety) in the Marketplace. They were $4.95 each.

:fish:

Just put the finishing touches on our October/November F&W trip (18 out of the past 20 years!). Thanks for adding us. :)

November 1-4 - PNO4TE (Elin & DH)

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list. Looks like a split, BC/BLT and Swan?

:cool1:

Biggest news ever - Dee went to Beaches and Cream!

And I knew that OJ in Nanette's hand looked to innocent to be true! I should have guessed mimosas.

Well, technically... I still haven't been. ~Ninja went to the takeout window and brought it to me.

:duck:

Does anyone happen to know, if we are on the ground floor at YC and/or BC (leaning toward BC at this point) can you access your room via the patio door using your magic band so that you don't have to walk through the interior of the hotel? The last time we stayed at the Yacht Club was a very long time ago, no such thing as magic bands back then! Thanks!

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS!

Do you have an upcoming trip booked? When?

I have never stayed in a ground level room, either before or after Magic Bands, but I don't think there is a way to lock the patio door from outside the room. Hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong.

::yes::

To anyone trying to figure out how to use Uber message me , i am an Uber/Lyft Driver. But when I have used it I have just walked right pass the entrance to the roadway making it easy for the driver to see me and pick me up, getting back is easier considering I have a magicband and can let them in. Also, if your looking to go further than wally world uber has an fare esitmator on the orlando page which is clickable here

by the way, we are arriving Dec 22 - Dec 26th BC CL

:welcome: back!

I don't have you on the Be Our Guest list for December, so I will add you.

:santa:
