Snow and Disney.....Reservations

One more thing to to consider is whether you need a truck outside of towing.

Totally true and one of the reasons we traded our truck and TT for our C. As much as we both loved driving our big, comfy and powerful Tundra, we were drawing straws at who had to drive it to work since I work downtown and park in a tight garage and DH has to compete for decent congested spaces at his surface lot. And no lie, because our Tundra was a crewmax with a short bed we can actually fit building materials better in our little Honda Insight hatchback! If something is too bulky for our Insight we just rent a truck from Enterprise for the weekend (and get a little fix of driving a big *** truck!)

I wish I didn't have to drive my big *** truck as a daily driver. My DW traded my Mini for her SUV when her car started showing it's age. I'm getting back now though. I'm in the process of ordering my little "run around" car, a Focus RS. Only problem is, it will probably take until next spring to get built. They are only making 4000 for the US and they are built in Germany and have to be shipped over.

Ooh fun! Are you ordering a manual transmission? That would be so much fun to fly around in!

We actually went down to one car after the trade of truck and TT, and stayed that way for a couple of years once I realized that the bus line that we lived a block away from would take me right to my building downtown. We bought a 1998 Jeep TJ to play around with and eventually tow behind our Winnie, so now that's my daily driver since we moved away from the convenient bus line. DH gets our little gas sipper. Of course DS is outgrowing the back seats in both of those, so we need to start thinking about something else eventually..and of course we're only a few years away from him driving so that goes into the equation as well. Ugh, it is always something!

So...where is that money tree??? And what was this thread about, anyway??? Oh yeah, snow, and making Fort reservations!

It's funny. I keep telling my DS that so much... "Where is the Money Tree". Funny thing is, a couple of years for "Easter" her "Poppy" when we went to visit put some dollar bills in the tree in the yard. Told her it was the money tree and to go pick the "Fruit" for him (which he of course let her keep). It was so cute.

No more snow for at least the next month or so. We leave in 22 days. Don't want to have to deal with it. When we came down the same time in 2014, the day we left a big storm came in behind us. School got cancelled that next day (so our DD didn't miss anything that day which was only a half day anyway before Thanksgiving). Then they were off until the following Tuesday which also ended up getting cancelled because of the weather. So when DD got back to school she hardly missed anything.

The RS only comes in a 6 speed manual. It's AWD and 350 HP in a semi little car. I think an automatic would ruin half the fun.

And the money tree? Not here. I had to wait until truck was paid off to get another car. That's why the truck has been my daily driver for the last 2 1/2 years.

And as for snow... 84 here today. November 1st... That's unheard of around these parts. We'll have snow before Thanksgiving, I'm sure.

Too cute with the money tree! And that timing worked great with the storm in 2014...couldn't plan that if you tried, that's for sure. Fingers crossed for great weather for the next 22 days!

Very cool on the Focus, that will be a blast to drive! AWD too, perfect! I don't know why we don't get more small AWD vehicles here in the US. Even the "small" SUVs are mid-sized now. We had a 1998 RAV4 for years, manual transmission, a blast to drive. But the new RAVs and CRVs are just bigger and not nearly as nimble IMHO.

67 today and 70 tomorrow here!

I'm heading down to WDW for a girls weekend for the Wine and Dine half, so beyond tomorrow morning I don't care too much ;) Well, a little since my boys are being left behind, I hope it is a nice weekend for them.

Well, the wife returned from vacation a week early. She just took a new job, so we are now house hunting. So the 5er has been put on the back burner as we attend to other more pressing issues. We are still looking to be at the Fort in September for some relaxation and pixie dust. pixiedust:

Congratulations on the changes! the 5er can wait...just make sure to remember easy access and parking space when you are house hunting :) I'd be lying if I said that RV parking and access didn't influence our recent move.

That was the first thing I said to the realtor was we have an RV and it needs to be parked on site. So yes that is a big factor. Most of the other things for a house I can live with or adjust. But we need space to park the RV no matter what, and that eliminates a lot of places.

Chris,

Congrats on DW's new job. That helped me get the new 5er here too. DW landed a job with my hospital system... finally.

Good luck hunting for a new address to park the camper. Just make sure it big enough for the current trailer AND the one you plan on having in the future.

BTW, not sure when you were planning on in September. I just had to move my dates a couple of weeks later. We are opening a new tower at work. It was originally opening in August. Then October. Now it is firmly 9/9/16. The same day I had reservations to check in at the Fort. Checking in now on the 23rd. Heading home on Oct 1.

I have been waiting for that "Settling" for a while now.... For what ever reason it seems to be going in the opposite direction that I want.:crazy2:

No worries though.... Just over a week before we depart and arrive 2 days later. :yay: The sad part is that I now have "Morton's Neuroma" in my Right foot. It seemed to surface near the end of our trip in August. I just thought my foot was aching a lot because of all the walking we did. Figured... A bit of relaxing and it would get better. WRONG! just as bad now as it was then. While I am excited to go to the Fort and the World again... I am hoping my foot won't be an issue. I am too young to have a an ECV or even a Cane! :crutches:

Oh man, as a 40-something runner with 40 and 50-something running buddies, foot problems have been prevalent lately. Not fun stuff. I hope yours is resolved soon! Cortisone shots and shoe inserts seem to be the name of the game lately.

So here it is and we are staring at Christmas. We have found a house and are hoping to close next week. Then it is time to pack and move, driveway still clear enough to pull trailer out and to it's new home. Holding out on Ressies as we wait for closing then we can set our trip in Sept in motion.

Congrats on the the new home. Hope your closing goes smooth.

Funny about that, Loan officer tells me on Tuesday we are good to close on the 28th. I take off work, realtor schedules abstract company and lo and behold loan officer calls yesterday, we can't make the 28th. Maybe Thursday or Friday, needless to say not real happy with loan officer, but again not much i can do about it either. So much like my time in the service, hurry up and wait.

Paul, You and your family have a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year !!!!

Congrats on the new house, PAHunter! Hopefully the closing process will soon be behind you. All of the crazy anxiety around the closing process is just no fun. Hang in!!!

Well, here we are only 24 hours to closing on our house, wire transfer done for closing costs, electric in our name. Now to pack up the vehicle and get ready for an early morning trip south. Next have to make an appointment to have recall work done on trailer, will do that and deliver trailer to it's new home in one day. Once it's hooked up easier to do. More nuisance snow on the way and can finally make those pesky reservations after we close tomorrow. Well ok after I get back to civilization, no internet at the new home yet. Looking forward to the move, settling in and a trip to Disney later this year. Then looks like a year off and another trip with the 2nd nephew in 2019, God willing.

Chris,

Enjoy the move and setting up the new house. Sorry we are going to miss you by a few weeks now in September. We are opening a new tower at work on 9/9/17 so I had to push things to the end of September.
