Private Cabanas at Magic Kingdom: Last Day to Rent One - February 17, 2017

:offtopic: I was at a media event years ago where an Imagineer talked to us about the theming of the Haunted Mansion. Someone asked if they'd ever consider doing the Nightmare Before Christmas layover at WDW like they do at DLR. We were told that they wouldn't because more folks from around the entire world visit WDW and they want those Guests to see HM in its original form and not with a layover.

Of course, things can always change as we know, but I thought I'd share that.

I would add bag check, I know they don't take tons of times but if you are bringing large bags it's a slight inconvenience

True, I think there are lots of small pieces that when put together make this an attractive option for many.

The thing is a room will not solve the "space" issues this provides because of check in or check out time. You simply don't get enough time at the right time for it to help at during one day at a park. Especially if I can't use room between 11 and 3 or 4, assuming my room is ready.

My guess is that this is a test and if popular, better accommodations will be provided, this is Disney after all. As I posted, for us the reserved seating for three events makes the price easier to swallow.

:earsboy: Bill
that was posted somewhere.

Basically there seems to be someone (or a team) of people in the Parks department of Disney whose job is to increase revenue with low overheard.

And they just keep dreaming up more ideas ..
Think about all the things they've added. Dessert parties, reserved seating for parades, Cabanas, Early Morning Magic, etc.

All things they keep trying out because the cost to "try them out" is minimal (not much infrastructure cost and maybe redirecting a few cast members) but the price they charge is big.
They are "quick hits" .. low hanging fruit .. that can make them money in the short term and even if they fail, there isn't that much invested in it.

I guarantee we are close to very exclusive "paid" meet and greets and other things like it (well, now that I think about it. The Tiana dessert party and Cinderella's Castle dinner is like that).

Whatever this team can dream up as an extra revenue maker without having to build a whole new attraction, will probably get tried out.
The first example being Maleficient at the Villain party. I'm still chapped about that one.

Ok so I have to admit that when I first saw this the other day my first reaction was negative. But after reading other people's opinions and the way some were able to explain the perceived value, I think there is certainly a market for this. Sort of like getting that "VIP feeling" for less money than it would normally cost.

I do think they should make them a little more visually appealing. There's something about them that reminds me of an outdoor flea market or swap
meet. Also wondering how long it will take for someone to get kicked out their cabana for, ugh hem, "unsavory conduct".......yes, my mind is in the gutter but so are many other people's.

There were three that I saw, just like the one pictured on this thread, clustered around in the greenery behind the stage, on the end towards Star Tours.
I'll have to go check that, can't picture where exactly you're talking about. By the big backstage gate, between the JT stage and Backlot Express?

For just a little more you could have a studio at BLT for Christmas night. For less you can have a studio at VWL for a NYE night. So an actual room on property that you can go and lay down in with AC and a pool. I guess not for 8 people though. This only makes sense with 8 adults who are all chipping in.

I have an actual room on site, three bedrooms to be exact, but Id love to have the cabana in Epcot, especially on NYE. Hope this happens.

From your post, the same can be said for those staing in deluxe, they can stay longer if they do moderate or value or just eat counter and one buffet and and save money and stay in a better resort. Its really just how people choose to spend their money.

Happy Thanksgiving all!

Would anyone be able to nap in the middle of all the theme park noise? I know I wouldn't.
Kids all day long
This is the only reason I would even consider it, people with small kids in particular "babies" this could be sweeeeeet for napping vs heading back to the room and if the view for parades/fireworks is good it's a no brainier for those with young kids.

I still wouldn't have done it at the price when my kids were younger though lol

For those talking wdw vs dl
I would take dl over wdw any day for different reasons but my dl local friend says (not sure it is true or not although it makes sense) that there are so many theme parks in relatively close proximity to each other that you don't see as many travelers who live in and around them as they visit ones more convenient to their location.

Anyone on here thinking about booking one of these I would personally like to know someone's viewpoint who was in favor of this.
I think it's a good idea and would consider renting one. Even if someone is staying at a MK resort, you still have to leave the park, get to your room, and get back into the park. For me, the atmosphere is more important than the rides, so being able to hang out and have a dedicated spot to rest is appealing. I can understand why this would not appeal to many visitors, but I can also see many reasons why it would.

Wish I'd taken a pic now....No, they were literally right up against the end/back of the big stage in front of GMR, on the end closest to the movie star busts--left end if you're facing it. I saw three. Didn't look at the other end.

Those "tents" are the holding area for the SW characters in the show.

ah ok. Those are the tents they use for the characters for Star Wars A Galaxy Far Far Away. When you said Star Wars stage I thought it was the JT training one

As you say, things can change, but that is a horrible excuse. Why did they introduce Jingle Cruise then? Yes its still basically the same attraction, just with some Christmas decorations and jokes thrown in there, but I am sure tourists would appreciate the layover ever holiday season. I am a tourist and I definitely would!

BTW, getting back on topic, I hate the cabana idea, but my thoughts aside, I feel that just like with the Extra Hours thing from a few months back, this won't get too far because most people will not be able to afford it/will see the use in it.

Most won't but all they need is a few groups each day who do to be successful. We are a tiny fraction of guests on DIS and folks here are already booking.

The After Hours took a lot more guests and I honestly think it would have been a hit if they marketed it and got the price point right to begin with. They didn't do either. After Hours can be a huge hit at DHS and AK once new Lands open.

We did the After Hours and was completely worth it to us.
