I know it's still early, but I thought I would go ahead and set up the new thread before it gets too busy here. Here's the link to the thread. Again, we don't have to leave this one. The new thread is to ensure that those who want to continue planning together can, should this thread get closed. :)

Argh-so not Free Dining related, but is trip related. I am a big NFL fan and have season tickets to the Rams. I knew our trip was going to be during football season, and realized, belatedly, it was going to extend over 2 sundays, so figured 2 games I would miss, but likely only one would be home. Of course my luck sucks-because both games are home, so I will be missing the season opener, as well as the game vs the Redskins, which I was looking forward to because the Rams coach just left the Redskins, and I have a friend from Washington who was excited to see them. I already sell some tickets (bought 8 season tiks and sell 4-6 per game to make up for the ones I used), so I guess I will be selling more those games. But I'm disappointed with myself! My big passions are Star Wars, Disney, and football, and now they are colliding! But obviously Disney is taking preference (and because we are going to HS one of those days I will even be wearing a SW shirt instead of a Rams shirt...)! Oh, woe is me!
On a positive note you won't have to watch the rams.

We enjoyed GG breakfast very much! Side note: if you book a PPO breakfast there you can basically walk on to Soarin' after your meal with no wait before the rope drop crowds shows up.

We are thinking about doing a GG breakfast this trip. My concern with a PPO is will we be too full from breakfast to enjoy Soarin', TT, and Mission Space? I don't want full tummies becoming empty. What do you think?

There are some who don't have the GCs and have asked about upgrading. I don't want anyone waiting until 48 hr to upgrade and find out they can't. It's not really either or. It's one time for DVC and one time for everyone else. Everyone on this board will be everyone else if they are upgrading from free dining.

Sorry. I had no idea. I see no logical reason why someone would wait to upgrade if they weren't trying to use the gift cards.

If any body want to crunch the numbers .. i hope this excel will help
numbers will almost match including tax.. you can compare as many combinations you want..just find the room price per night.. other tickets and DP price it will calculate
caution : I am not responsible for mistakes:guilty:

^This is good advice^
DxDP definitely takes some planning to utilize properly without feeling like you are running from meal to meal. We enjoyed it very much but without a plan it could quickly turn into a big waste of time and money.
I am doing the DxDP this time around and we have it plan out and spaced at least 6 hours a part for meals. We are doing a lot of 2 TS credit dining along with 1 TS dining per day. My TA got all the places I wanted including BOG dinner and Cinderella Royal Table. I have been trying to get Dinner at BOG since they first open and this will be our first time getting it. We were able to get Lunch the first time but could never get it again.

Keeps the money it costs to upgrade in your own pocket for a little longer or gives you the time to save up for that cost. If you know you're going to upgrade and you go ahead and make ADRs, it doesn't matter if you do the upgrade early or at the very last moment.

I was literally having this exact conversation with DH in the last hour! We too are missing 2 home games for Disney! Neither of us are fans, but we have season tix to the Bills. Going to be selling more than expected this season too!

We are big Bills fans... live in Canada - would be interested in buying tix off you if you are selling

It can be. Say it's only 2 adults at a deluxe room running about $600 a night. RO discount of 30% is $180 a night. DDP is $70 a person so only $140. Obviously it depends on how many in the room, what the rack is, and what the RO offer is, but you can't assume FD is always the best deal.

We are 2 adults and 2 children under 10.

hey everyone! :wave2: have i missed anything since last night? we are getting so close! do you think i need to add on hopper now or when it goes live i will still have time to add it? i remember last time being able to add a reservation to your cart, but by the time you when to check out, it'd be gone. i don't want to run into that, but i also don't want hopper unless we need it for FD... (clarification -i know we need it for FD, but if i'm not going to get it, i don't want it, does that make sense?)
You can always remove the Park Hopper later is you do not need it. I had PH on my tickets before and later decided we did not need them so called and had them taken off the tickets.

Only thing is I think ticket prices have increased since we booked. So I don't want to upgrade at the higher price just yet, especially since now I need to figure if RO may be the better deal.
If I do opt for RO, can we still keep the dining plan? I still like having it becasue it's nice not having to worry about meal $ during vacation.

Okay, thought I had this all planned out and then.... Well, as of today, there's standard availability at WL for our dates. So I did the numbers on that compared to what we already have at BC. Here are the options we're looking at right now and really, really having a tough time deciding.

Details - Family of 4--me, DH, DS17, DS15. 6 nights/7 days, third week of August. All prices include 6-day park hopper.

BC - Standard Room - No dining plan - $3206, pay for all food OOP

WL - Standard Room - Free dining plan - $4,172, no extra OOP.

So it's basically $1,000 more for WL but food would be covered. We've done DP on all our trips so far, and never really needed much beyond what's included in the plan (we share some meals, have some breakfasts in the room, etc.). I know $1,000 probably won't cover all our food for the week, but I don't think the difference will be huge. Current ADRs include BOG breakfast/lunch, Via Napoli, Tusker House ROL, 'Ohana dinner, and not sure what else we'll include.

This is all assuming that the mods are only get QSDP as is rumored this year. If that's the case, the difference between upgrading to the regular plan and just going deluxe is so little it doesn't make sense not to do it. If, by chance, the mods get regular dining included for free, then it's a no-brainer for us to go that way.

Stayed at WL last year and loved it!! Have never stayed at BC. Thoughts? And why?

It's not really ro if tickets are included it's a package. So if that's the case you can get the dining plan.
