Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I have a PV room booked in a few weeks as well. IDK if I should change my reservation! I guess I will keep checking here and wait and see when the rooms are released into inventory.

I can't change. I got the QS summer meal package, and had to book preferred pool view to get it, so that means 60s by the Hippy Dippy pool. I did request upper floor and actually have a room request through TP to be sent. We've stayed there before (2nd floor) and it wasn't too bad, but moving up to the top floor should be even better.

Ahh, worth it for the deal then! I have an AP room only rate and this is my first Pop stay so I am torn. I haven't done my check-in yet but figure I will request the 70s and an upper floor.

Thanks to everyone for giving me the the soft drink prices. Still wish they had some more drink options though (Mr. Pibb, Mellow Yellow, Cherry Coke)

Guess I just need to decide if the refillable mug is worth it. Think my brothers gonna get one so I might too. We could each take turn getting each other's refills making it half as annoying, lol. Still think it would be annoying bringing it to the Parks, I've got Contingo Mugs for that, but we will have a stroller, so we could always throw them in the storage area.

I may just be frugal, but if I buy a mug, it comes with me everywhere. I put mine (and whomever I am traveling with) in my bag. I don't try to go out of my way, but I like to hop around or do things at other resorts. If I walk from HS to Epcot and vice versa, I stop at the Boardwalk Bakery for a drink. If I am going to Magic Kingdom from a park and a bus for Poly/GF pulls up, I go visit my favorite resorts and grab a drink. Use the monorail at the Contemporary, it is so close! I am usually pretty thirsty and would rather not purchase additional drinks (outside of TS meals) when I have invested in a mug. I did it one time and the $3.29 on top of the mug really annoyed me lol

Looking for some opinions before I do my on-line check-in. I have a preferred room booked. Where are your favorite preferred rooms and why? I know it's either 50's, 60's or 70's, but just curious what people like best!

We've always had the mugs because we've gone during FD promos. We don't take them to the parks. This upcoming trip we only have the QS meal deal, so no mugs. I think we will get two, we will get our money's worth with a 12 day stay. We drink a lot, but at the parks we do water, since our preferred soda is diet coke, and the caffeine is not going to be helpful when we need to be hydrated.

I wish they would have an option for the refillable mug where you opt not to take it home (same price) but you can scan your magic band and get one filled so long as you return the one you previously "rented" that way to/from room or buses you could get a fresh cup and not worry about hauling it around all day. I never bring mine home because my suitcase is already stuffed

Actually last year we had a preferred room. We called and told the person on the phone what we wanted and it was a standard room. but to us it was preferred and they cnanged it, granted we didn't get any money back, but the view was worth the cost.

I always take mine home. I stuff dirty clothes in them. I'm bringing a carbiener this time and attach it to my bags on the days where I know we will be hopping around. I know we are going to go and see some other hotels since I will be with people where this is their first time.

Did I read correctly that with the QS dining plan you don't get refillable mugs? It's always been my understanding that QS came with resort mugs also. asking because we always get the regular Disney dining plan & are considering the QS plan this summer since we don't plan on eating table service meals. We are straight up water drinkers most of the time..but at Disney...we think the coke is magical!!! Lol!
Thanks!

You definitely get the mug in the quick service dining plan

I always bring mine home too, but we have far too many. Regular mugs, white handle mugs, no handle mugs. IDK where to put them! I wish I could bring my old ones back and reactivate them for a discount rather than full price. Only makes sense for me to physically get the new mug when I am paying the same price.

I totally agree! Disney is good for recycling and conservation, so why wouldn't they encourage us to bring back old mugs by offering a discount to activate them? :sad2: I'd gladly forgo getting a new mug each time, if I could use old ones.

Hope you're happy to hear that your information is incorrect. The QS meal plan DOES include refillable mugs!

From Disney's site:
Make the most of your Magic Your Way® Package Plus Quick-Service Dining with this handy guide that outlines the details of what’s included and how to use your dining plan.

Each Guest ages 3 and over will also receive:
• A refillable drink mug eligible for refills at self-service beverage islands at Quick-Service locations at any Disney Resort hotel

Why can't they make it that we just pay $18 for length of stay refills and scan our MBs to get refills using disposable (recyclable) cups? It would make it so much easier.

Hi everyone, I just got back from my first stay at POP and to be completely honest, it will probably be my last. To preface I will say I really wanted to like POP, and was considering it for a family vacation (as this trip was just me), but quite a few things stopped me from wanting to stay there again. I arrived around midnight on Tuesday and I was happy with my room location, Building 4, 4th floor, non-preferred side. I had requested the ground floor, but I was okay with the 4th floor as well.

When I got to the room there were mosquitos everywhere, easily 30 of them. I assumed it was because of the heavy rain that had just finished. I was tired and just wanted to get to bed. The room it's self really was showing signs of age, including multiple areas in the bathroom where the wallpaper was pealing and the grout was disgusting. I know they are undergoing a reno, but I am paying the same to stay in a non-renoed room, standards should be kept up! We stayed at Coronado a while ago and the grout was discolored, but this grout looked like it hadn't been cleaned. Needless to say I didn't complain at that time, looking back I should have spoke up right away, but hindsight is 20/20.

The next morning I was up and out of the room EARLY and didn't return for the day. When I came back around 2am (after EMH) I was dead tired. I started to get into bed and found that the pillows were covered with dead mosquitos as well as the others that were still flying around. At 2am was not when I wanted to deal with this, and I am sad to say that I brushed them off and went to bed. In addition to the dead bugs on the the bed, there were dead bugs on the vanity and in the sink. Smeared across the ceiling and the curtains. The inside curtains were covered in a combination of dead and live mosquitos that were smeared into the fabric. My fault again for not speaking up, I know, but this was a short trip and I was trying to just "put up with it".

The next day I had lunch with friends, many of who were staying at POP as well, and none of them had the same issues as I had. This was the night of the DIS Epcot party so I was late getting in again. But again there were dead and live mosquitos everywhere. The worst was when I was washing my face and I grabbed the towel to dry my face and there was a dead mosquito on the towel. I decided to sleep and get up and go talk to a manager. At 6am I headed up to talk to a manager, and as a former general manager I know that the number 1 thing to do is to apologize to the customer. Let me just say he did not apologize, instead he blamed it on me, the construction, the weather, it's Florida, anything but saying I'm sorry. He said I must me leaving the door open... I told him I was closing it as fast as humanly possible. When I told him that he literally rolled his eyes at me.

He gave me one of two options. He could send pest control in to vacuum up the dead bugs or he could move me to another room. I took the new room since he did not plan on cleaning the ceiling or the curtains. I ask if there was anyway there was a room available now or I could stay in the current one until noon-1pm because I had been out late the last two nights and needed a rest before another long night. The answer was no. I had to be out by 11am in order to be moved to another room and he couldn't tell me when that would be. I headed back to the room and slept as long as I could before having to get up and pack up my bags.

I got my room email at around 5pm that evening but didn't get back to the room until around 1:45am after the Epcot party. I was in the same building just two floors down. The bug problem was not there thankfully. In fact I had no issues with ANY mosqitos in the room at all. But I again had issues that I don't think is very Disney like. First the refrigerator was loud, like incredibly loud. I couldn't hear the TV over it loud. I was only there for one more night after this so I felt I could deal with it. Secondly, the second night the AC didn't work correctly and I was FREEZING. I ended up taking the blankets off the second bed in the room to try and get warm. Lastly, I didn't get any new toiletries with housekeeping the one day I had it there. They didn't have a problem with taking the tip though.

I know that a lot of these things are small, but they really did equate to a subpar stay at POP. I have stayed at many Disney resorts and have never had the issues that I had a POP.
