DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

The week is only half way over? It feels like VBS has lasted 3 years as opposed to 3 days. I see a meeting where we can discuss not doing this next year. Maybe I can fake some type of injury or something.

:lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

For me, it's more difficult than previous years...we literally JUST finished up our AWANA year and then had 1 week off before VBS. Thanfully, tonight is our last night.

Our CBO, Chief Bacon Office stays busy, but he will be around to get you the official member #. In the meantime, you can get busy sending me those dues payments. Do you stay on property? Which resort? ADRs booked? FP+ schedule? C'mon man, get posting.

Well, I know I'm a little behind the power curve, but still waiting on DW to decide which park she wants to go to. When we went in Feb, she was sick most of the week, so she barely got to do anything, so I'm leaving the choice up to her. I can find something I like at any of the parks. DD started working, so she may or may not be able to go depending on schedule and/or she can get time off.

We're staying at Carribean beach. Since we'll be in close proximity, my choice would be either EPCOT or DHS, but then again, it's her call.
So, with that being said, haven't done ADRs or FP yet (not that I could FP yet anyway)

Top O the Mornin Dads!

Forgot to include the pretzel.

The formula did not include a pretzel nor did it include a brat(which is waaay more important). If I had an official number, I'd ask for a new MAN LAW that states a pretzel and/or a brat MUST be included with bier while in Germany pavilion -- except of course if you're just really thirsty

Evening Gents.

Travelling home from Calgary today. Made it to Toronto 15 minutes early but our gate wasn't ready so we sat on the taxiway for awhile, then they changed the gate and then the bridge at that gate was locked and they had to find someone with a key. Still had time for a nice meal and a cold beverage at Mill Street Brew Pub in the airport. They then announce my flight home would be delayed an hour and now another 55 minutes. Good times!!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Ah the joys of "glamourous" travel - hope you make it home tonight

Happy Thursday. Just one day left of VBS this week. Definitely going to enjoy relaxing this weekend.

Ahhh yes, but which beer???
. :crowded:

Schofenhofer? Isn't the grapefruit beer one of our official DisDad Club beers?

Happy wife, happy life. We stayed at the All Star Resorts and Pop and then CBR. After that, we bought DVC and never turned back. Our home resort is Boardwalk, and it is one of my favorites along with Bay Lake Tower. Staying in the Disney bubble makes the vacation just that more special.

I like the pretzels, but can do without the brats. We enjoy eating and drinking around the WS, outside of Via Napoli, so only small snacks will do.

The joy of air travel. It is convenient when it is on time.

We just finished last night. It was fun, but as those of you who do them know, draining as well.

Yes...we're DVC members also. We're relative newbies...bought in 2008 and home resort is SSR. I know a lot of folks don't like SSR, but we like it because of its more relaxed and quiet atmosphere. I also like that a ride to downtown Disney (still have trouble calling it springs because that just doesn't fit with what it is) is a quick boat ride. I think I mentioned this in one of my posts to different thread, but we found out if we try to do a different park every day, all of us (parents/kids) are testy after the 2nd/3rd day. What we do is park one day, stay at resort and relax and swim next day. We also did the treehouse villas a couple years ago and loved 'em. We also love WL because of the lobby and pool and access to water (the little boats are cool).

We haven't stayed at boardwalk or beach club, but hopefully we'll be able to in the future. This is our first time at a non-DVC resort, but I've heard good things about CB. I've been debating about buying more points at AKL or the new copper creek, but I'm not sure I can justify the expense. That's why I've also been looking at resales.

Happy Friday Dads.
Hope everyone has a great Fathers day this weekend.

MMMMMMM!!! Shiner our local German brewery has a Ruby Red grapefruit beer that they put out every summer. It is great when working or playing outside in 100 heat.

Little known fact their Normie! The brew-masters at the Munich style lagers we love so much didn't have access to Grapefruit until the early 20th century, but if they did they would have put it in their beer. (Hmm... that part may actually be true..) So they used the next best thing they had for their summer recipes.... beets, and that is the origin of bitter beer face.

That's got to be February in the Calendar. Or the face when looking at budgie smugglers.
me too. Right now I should land around 2 am.
I was going to PM you to see if you were still up as I went to work, apparently you still were. Have a good weekend mate.

Early finish for me so.......

Right boys, that's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. All out. Have a great fathers day, I'm going home, jumping in the Jeep and off to DLP.
Last one in the Redwood Bar at the Sequoia Lodge for Glowtinis has to explain to my 4 year old DD that "Its a small world" is shut for refurb.

As its fathers day weekend, any Princess's virtue cannot be questioned, because they are all somebody's daughter.

Have a great weekend chaps.

Hi there. New DISDad here. from Hilton Head, SC. headed to Orlando today for our first trip this year, though its our 6th in 15 months. DD is 2 and has been every time, recognizes the parks and rides and already has a few choice favorites that she knows by sight or sound(Dumbo, Its a Small World, etc.). I'm teaching my princess to Dream Big, to fly like Peter and Tink, and to bounce like Tigger. Figure I'm giving her a decent start to this crazy passion of ours.

Hope you got home okay and you don't have to go to work today so you have some time to recover from the joys of air travel.

4 hours sleep and off to the office. Oh well, it is Friday.

Happy Friday Dads.

Same to you!

Pretty sure we could have had a chat.

Hey guys,

Been away for a while dealing with a crappy weekend and week. Nothing serious, just one thing led right into another. Looking forward to this weekend. DD has an overnighter with a friend from school so I plan to just enjoy the night and tomorrow morning just chilling. Not sure if she will be going tagging on Sunday so no big plans for Fathers' Day. May drive down to the Cracker Barrel in Florida City for breakfast with or without the kid.

Welcome to the club. Nothing like a little one to really enjoy Disney World. My munchkin first went at about 18 months. She is now 23 YO and still loves Disney. Have a blast and savor the moment.

We're going to be headed back to the most magical place on earth in Sep...already mentioned that.

I'm soliciting ideas/opinions/etc. about F&W. We won't be on the dining plan unless that changes, so I'm trying to get an idea of other folks opinions and experiences (good or bad) regarding F&W.

Sorry about your weekend and week...know what those are like. :sad2:

Sorry, but what is going tagging? I looked up online and I confess, I'm preplexed.

Funny thing...I was stationed at Homestead AFB back in the early 80s and I guess either I didn't pay attention or simply forgot where FL city was. Must've been because I spent most of my time up & down the keys. :o

Welcome! I want to see pictures (or better yet video) of you teaching her to bounce like Tigger. Pictures or it didn't happen. :lmao:

She will do something nice for me, she always comes through. Can't deny her a chance to go out on the boat and do what she loves. What we fathers sacrifice for our kids. I'm OK with it. When she gets home she can show me her new bruises and talk about what they tagged.

She is a grad student at the Univ. of Miami studying marine ecosystems. Her internship is with their Shark Research & Conservation Program (SRC). Among the things they do is capture sharks to measure them, take a clip from their fin for DNA analysis and draw blood. They also tag them so if another research group captures them, they can compare from previous measurements and location. Tags can include a simple number tag, an acoustical tag that pings when the shark goes past one of thousands of sonar buoys located around the world, or a satellite tag that tracks them from space.

This in one of her drawing blood from a Hammerhead

Get the wrist card you can use to just swipe your purchases. I pre loaded $50 on it and it helped me watch expenses because it can be costly. The guides they have will list what booths are where and what is served. I love it, one of my favorite times to go to WDW.

Florida City is just south of Homestead. You passed it on the way to the Keys. When you were at Homestead it probably was a one traffic light town. Bigger now due to urban sprawl.

I was hoping that's what going tagging meant and it was my initial thought, but was also wondering tagging what? When I looked online, some of the options were less than what I'd expect a disdad to mention (IYKWIM) about his DD. Very cool. Props to her and you must be one proud disdad!

As a long time Dolphins fan, good to see she's wearing the right colors!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Please don't burst my bubble and remind me they're Hurricane colors too.

I think I recognize one of those sharks from when I dove in the keys...he looks very familiar. :lmao:

Yeah, I don't recall ANYTHING being south of Homestead until hitting Key largo, but I'm not at all surprised it's changed a lot. I mean it's been 30+ years. Oy, now I feel old.
