9/16/2017 Magic Transatlantic from Barcelona

For the person who was wondering: Royal Court Tea day 8 Sat Sep. 23, no time given, 1.5 hour activity, $210 children/$69 adults

For everbody looking at that certain adult excursion in St. Johns which was sold out - Rum and Rascals - it seems DCL opened up a second tour which now takes place in the morning - departing 9.45.
Maybe it was helpful that all of us asked for more slots - so if you want this tour better be fast - we are booked on it :mickeyjum

Thanks for the heads up on this. I switched my excursion to this one. For anyone interested, I had a choice of the 9:45 a.m. departure or the 1:15 departure. Perhaps some of the people who booked the original departure preferred the earlier time and switched, or they opened up additional spaces in the afternoon as well as adding the morning.

BTW, I don't have your info listed on page one. If you want to be listed in the group and/or as part of the postcard exchange, please let me know your info and I'll be glad to add it.

Hi - sure you can add us - we are
Tanja and Thorsten - both 44 years old and from Germany - stateroom 5022 - this will be our 17th anniversary and first longer holiday without kids :-)
And yes we would like to add some "exotic" postcards to the postcard exchange!

It's not drinking: it's CULTURE! and RESEARCH!
You are sooo right! pirate:

lol! I am sure drinking at 10am is just for the culture

I think people are changing to the earlier one as there is more availability showing. I guess this gives people time to go souvenir shopping after the tour. My plan is to go out before the tour to get some stuff then come back, have brunch and then drink!

Then again, I was thinking more "visiting a winery and having a few sips to taste" rather than $99 worth of rum.... Perhaps I need to rethink LOL

Isn't it rum, beer and wine? I thought it went to three different places with 3 different drinks but maybe I misread. Either way both sound good options :D

We are checked-in...yippee. room 2576
its our 10 year anniversary, as well. i see there are several of us celebrating 10 years. 2007 was a GREAT year!!!

on another note, i looked at the port adventures and there is not a lot to keep our 5 yr old daughter entertained. what are other families doing with young children? we wouldn't mind looking into private excursions on our own or with another family.

Hmm...we can't book yet (this being our first cruise) but my DS (aged 10) and I have looked over the remaining excursions and feel your pain.

We live in Europe, so I'm not too bothered about just wandering/Ubering in Cadiz and Lisbon - we're also going to do that in St. John's - but obviously that won't be as possible in the Azores. I've read about people booking local tours privately, but I'd be fibbing if I said that didn't make me nervous... :o

Welcome Aboard -- and you are added to page one for all.

I updated your info on page one to include stateroom, anniversary and daughter's age.

We did a private tour in St. Petersburg during our Baltics cruise. We were a little apprehensive with the tour company that we chose, but we read some really positive things about it and felt 85% comfortable when we arrived in port. The remaining 15% was washed away when we started talking to our guide (she was a sweetheart and very knowledgeable). If you find a private tour company that interests you, do some google review searches to help in a decision. We have not picked any private companies for our tours on this cruise, but I have also not had time to do any research. Also, we dictated when we wanted to be back at the ship. If I had to take a guess, I would say that these tour companies will probably drop off passengers at least an hour before having to be back on board.

Postcard exchange: I see that 16 people have signed up for this. I am on a hunt for some good postcards so I am still waiting to add my name and stateroom. Question, do you fill out the postcard and sign it as if you were actually mailing it to someone? I think I would like to know who dropped off a card for us. Also, do you put them in the fish or slip them under the door (if there's room)?

When I was going to participate, I was just going to bundle a set of each to those on the list with a note and drop them in the FE bag (if they have one) or put them on the fish clip. I never thought about filling them out.

And on that note, there are still some people on the postcard exchange list that have not provided their stateroom numbers!

So not one per stateroom but one per person in each stateroom, or is that up to the individual delivering them? We don't have a set plan for this and I've not done it before, but I don't want to go against the norm if everyone else is providing one card per person.

I was just going to put a selection together of 2-4 different cards and deliver them to each stateroom participating. I think it's up to what you want to do and what you're comfortable with. Maybe those still participating can weigh in on what their plans are.

I was thinking I would bring one card per stateroom, especially since I live in a small New England town now. If I still lived in NYC, then more postcards would be fun, but, out here, our main photo ops are trees and white church steeples LOL.

For the postcards I receive, I would love it if they came with the family's name on the back.

I've been going back and forth about writing something on the backs of the postcards I give: while *I would like the giver's info there, I don't know if other people would prefer to be given blank cards.

Good points. Maybe the postcard exchange club should weigh in and y'all decide how you want to do it and what you want to receive.

I was thinking at least one per storeroom, but if we find really interesting ones, we may do multiple postcards. We do not plan to sign them, but would find another way to identify who they are from.
