DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Picked up some more hardware today. Consolation winner (3rd place) singles and runner-up doubles. Not a bad way to spend Father's Day.

Then, another great part of Father's Day. I picked Dagwood sandwiches for my Father's day meal.

French bread, pastrami, salami, bologna, havarti, muenster, swiss, pickles, lettuce, tomato, avocado, mayonnaise, and mustard. And Landshark.
Well done on all fronts with special congrats to DD.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Basically just this week and next Monday then outta here for 2 weeks on DCL. Rained almost all day yesterday. In-laws took us out for brunch which was nice. First Fathers Day without both kids around which was a bit of a downer but that's just part of them growing up. Got a cool new gadget to cook shish kabob on rotisserie for my new grill I got a month ago (early Fathers Day present). Sounds like all had a good weekend, with Norm getting his sandwich, CJ is Cracker Barrel and Dan a weekend at DL Paris with his little ones.

Morning Guys.

A hot, muggy Monday up here. Good day to be in an air conditioned office. DS is starting his first full week of work today. I have employed him to cover for an employee who will be out for the summer. He still isn't able to play basketball or volleyball, the last x-ray he had on his ankle showed a small fracture. He has no pain though so I'm wondering if it may have been an old fracture.

Last week with students for DW; she is pretty happy about that. It's been a tough year for her team.

Have a great Monday.

Minus the muenster and avocado, sounds like a great sandwich. :thumbsup2:

Made it into the office for a few hours to pack for a road trip. Hit the gym to get a workout in. A three hour road trip for a meeting. :scared1:

Well done on all fronts with special congrats to DD.

Thanks.

That's a neat rotisserie and even cleaner grill. Well done - on the grill - not the steak - med rare there.

Boss and dad. This one could get interesting.

Everyone's a critic. :lmao:

Hi there. New DISDad here. from Hilton Head, SC. headed to Orlando today for our first trip this year, though its our 6th in 15 months. DD is 2 and has been every time, recognizes the parks and rides and already has a few choice favorites that she knows by sight or sound(Dumbo, Its a Small World, etc.). I'm teaching my princess to Dream Big, to fly like Peter and Tink, and to bounce like Tigger. Figure I'm giving her a decent start to this crazy passion of ours.
Anyone with "hammer" in their name is welcome. hello mate. enjoy orlando.
Okay, fellas, Traditions is under my belt.
Congrats mate
Home from tennis and swim. Youngest won first singles match 6-3, 6-2, but lost 2nd singles match, 4-6, 2-6. She was tired for the 2nd match. The other player was a real jerk, and I could tell she inherited it from her mother. She'll have a doubles match tonight and a singles consolation match in the morning.

Oldest cut over 10 seconds off her 200m free time and competed in the remainder of the 200 events that she didn't have times posted for.
Go team Hayden!
Blurry photo of her and her meal.

All in all a good Father's Day.
Nice one buddy,
Dagwood sandwiches

Mmmmmmm.......kebabs.............

Hope he recovers soon, look forward to your updates on his exploits....

Evening boys from a very hot and humid London. This is the week we wish the UK had affordable AC. But then this week passes and its all good.
Have a good one.

Good morning. After a 3.5 hour drive yesterday and a hotel stay, I arrive to my meeting where no one is here. I guess setting a meeting time is really just optional. :furious:

You all have a better day than I will. :sad2:

Go team Hayden

??????

.

Thanks.

As for the sandwich, see how hard it is to translate American into English.

There's a comic strip in the US called Blondie (https://www.pinterest.com/pin/560838959819919365). Her husband is Dagwood and he's famous for making ridiculously large (tall) sandwiches. So, the chain (I presume) is trying to say their sandwiches are worthy of Dagwood's. I was trying to see if I could find a picture of the strip with him and a sandwich, but haven't found it yet.

Found one...https://www.pinterest.com/pin/530017449876238202/

However, that sandwich is from my kitchen. I went to the grocery store and selected what I wanted for Father's Day meal. I thought about grilling, but there was a good chance of rain and I was being too lazy to clean it up.

Must have been a different day for you without both kids, but like you say, we can't stop them growing up. Grill looks great. It sounds like we all had a good weekend. Dan of course wins the prize for "most exciting" Father's Day being in a Disney Park. But I enjoyed my low key, relaxing day. Nothing really special, watched Finding Nemo on Disney channel with youngest DD and went out for a good Italian supper. Stopped by the local bakery after to get treats. There may have been a blueberry pie bought and I may have eaten half f it. It was Father's Day...

It's turned hot and muggy here today as well, believe it or not. Summer has finally made it to The Rock.

Nice to hear DS has something to keep him busy for the summer. Make sure he knows who's boss! Hope he gets to play again soon.

Never been to the Dark Side Dan? Universal Islands of Adventure has a restaurant themed to Dagwood and his sandwiches.

Morning guys! Seems like we're still stuck in perpetual March up here in the northeast. Fog and rain again when I woke up this morning. They promise better weather is coming, but we'll see. The regular half of me is happy the hot weather is holding off, but the business owner half of me wants to see it get warm so we can start making some money.

2018 pricing opens up today, so I'm anxiously awaiting an email from our TA to tell me what rack rates will look like for at least one of the next two trips. I think we're going to opt for the May dates on the mid-trip, so hopefully some sort of discount will pop up between now and then. The Poly booking will have to wait a few weeks since we're not yet within the 499-day booking window for that one.

Top O the Mornin Dads! DS is in Orlando this week as an Alumni for TSA helping coach and work with his old high school at Nationals. They hit MK yesterday upon arrival in Orlando and he was able to take in Happily Ever After - he though it was over the top good. Another first for me as he is seeing WDW without us and after Nationals will spend a day solo next Monday at AK before we catch up with him for the cruise. This getting old and your kids moving out more and more on their own is starting to suck. Have a good one gents.

Sounds like a great Father's Day though you are correct, Dan wins the prize.

Nope. We looked at it and whichever way we span it, it was gonna cost us about $100 each for a day. As the kids are small at the minute, we wouldn't get our moneys worth, though I would have loved to take George to see the Dr Seuss stuff, as this was what I read to him as a baby. Plus I don't really like Harry Potter. (Puts tin hat on).

Only half?

At least he is still going on the cruise though, right? I think your DS there is going down the "when I have the chance to go, I'm going, but I'm going with the parents as well" route. Fair play to him. Double Disney opportunities.

Well, I went and screwed that up.

After getting everything lined up for the mini vacation, I was waiting until after the wife's follow up with her doctor today to make the purchase on the enchanted kid offer. Now it's unavailable for the dates we would be going, unless I want to pay triple for the family suite (hell no)

I'm with ya! Don't care for Harry Potter at all.

I've done it twice. Once after the first Harry Potter land was done (oldest DD is a fan) and again after the second Harry Potter land. Youngest DD enjoyed the Dr. Seuss land, but it's a tough call to spend that much if the only thing you might enjoy is Seuss. I don't think I'll be spending the cash again. Been there, done that, you can find me on Main Street.

Any back up plan?

I read the books and enjoy the movies. I'm glad I saw the lands, but probably won't go back.

Yeah meetings. Time for posting.

We went one year and I'd go back again. The express pass option was well worth it. I'd like to try a different hotel than cabana bay as dvc has spoiled me.

.

Well, that's why we educated them though - to be self sufficient and take care of themselves. Sounds like you are doing too good a job?

Look at it this way, if nobody shows up you get to make all the decisions.

And management would still determine them all to be wrong.

Also wish I could stay at Poly but thats another story.

DVC. It will be our first and only stay there in July.

Afternoon guys. Heat index is over 100 today so not a day to be doing yard work.

Picked up some more hardware today. Consolation winner (3rd place) singles and runner-up doubles. Not a bad way to spend Father's Day.

You are going to need a bigger trophy case.

You are right about them growing up. A good consolation prize though with the new grill. The rotisserie is kind of neat.

Ouch. Anything they are doing other than let it heal by itself?

Not a bad gig for him. Disney trip and then the cruise, I'm jealous.

Well, I went and screwed that up.

We all have at one time or two. Or three. Or four...
