It's Official... Fort in June 2017/ June TR thread

Good to hear you got the family down there safely. Looking forward to following along. Enjoy!!!

So yesterday was mostly a Fort and Pool day with dinner at TE. When we got to the pool we began to wonder if anyone was at the park. We made the best of it though. Had to go pick up the golf cart at4 and did a bit of shopping too.
Dinner at TE.

And the final round.

Then it started to rain. We had almost an hour before pin trading at the trading post so we went back to the camper in the GC and grabbed umbrellas. Meanwhile it started to pour down rain. But it lightened up enough to go to pin trading. Then we ended the night at the pool. Wasn't near as crowded as the afternoon was. Very nice though.

Paul, I just showed my son the pictures of your meals at TE. He and I are wishing we were there for dinner also. looks good!

I have to say, it was a "Belt Loosening" meal. I did not go away hungry on that trip.
yeah, I find it hard to not eat too much at TE. It's sooooo good. Do you have plans to take the family over to Geyser Point over at WL. It looks like a nice place to have a meal right on the edge of Bay Lake?

So yesterday was an MK day. We made it for RD. I did the boat to the contemporary and walked but it was brutal with the heat and humidity.

The park wasn't too bad though. As the day got on and we were preparing to go back to the Fort and Pool you could see the clouds coming in. We stopped for some ice cream and it really started to rain. So we finished our ice cream under shelter. Hit a few more shops on our way out. By then the rain slowed.

We grabbed something to eat at the camper and off to the pool we went where DD12 met a new friend.

All in all a great day except DW got a blister starting. So some mile skin and we are good to go.

Animal kingdom today. Even at rope drop with EMH the Pandora Flight of Passage By the time we made it was about a 2 hour wait. We will pass as we are coming back another day and have a FP for it.

So today was an Animal Kingdom day. Did quite a bit, but as has been typical this trip, we got the afternoon rain. Started slowly around 1:30 and got heavier as we got closer to our EE Fast Pass at 2PM. Fortunately, it slowed up enough that the ride wasn't too bad.

We did have a Navi River FP as well. I have to say, that I was impressed. Not impressed enough to wait 2 hours in line for it (well actually during our FP, the Standby was at 85 Minutes), but I would definitely do it again (with a FP or low wait).

The did a nice job with the "land" of Pandora.

We ended up coming a back to the camper around 3:30 and getting diner. DD12 wanted to go swimming again because she was supposed to meet a friend she made yesterday at the pool at 5 PM, but the weather just wasn't cooperating. Her logic is, "I am going to get wet anyway..." not understanding Lightening or even worse, Mom and/or dad don't want to sit there in the rain waiting. The rain did lighten up to just a sprinkle here or there, at which point we let her go for a bit, but she also wanted to do s'mores at the Campfire. So we left the pool to go to the Sing-a-long. She was excited to get her s'mores, even though we didn't stay for the movie.

I have to say though, they really need a rule about kids with "Burning Flames of Marshmallow". It seems the kids don't always know how to handle it. One poor little girl was swinging her stick (with said flaming sticky goo) around and some flew on a poor unsuspecting boy (about 7 maybe?) He didn't even realize. Apparently mom saw it and said to other adult who was (NOT) supervising that "Maybe this isn't for her" and pointed out what had happened. The mother of the boy now had noticed and was looking after him as well. Fortunately, I think the only one who got hurt was the little girls feelings when her mom wouldn't let her do it any more. She was maybe 4 years old. No reason for her to be toasting marshmallows without an adult directly helping (IMHO)

Then the DD12 finally got to meet Chip and Dale here. She has met them before, but she still loves them.

So now we are back to the camper... Cleaning up for tomorrow.

At Epcot today. Had early breakfast ADRs for garden grill at 820. We were 323rd family in line to enter park and first one at Garden Grill. We got pictures (to follow) with Chip and Dale and Pluto and Mickey. All in one shot.

Breakfast was filling but DW cracked a tooth on some Bacon  yes apparently a weak tooth and a hard piece of bacon is the right combo. We hiked with our waitress about getting WDW to pay for it. She did notify the manager who was apologetic. We really weren't worried but she gave us an anytime fastpass (except Pandora or Frozen) to give us some Magic.
Then DD12 and I managed to get on the First soarin of the day.

Got off of soarin and went to Frozen. 45 minute Standby but it was more like 30. Next to Elsa and Anna meet and greet. Then DD12 wanted to do frozen again Standby stated 45 minutes but was actually more like 10.

Then to China. Mulan wait was about 2 minutes.

Now we are enjoying shaved ice in Japan.

Virtually NO crowd currently in the world showcase.

So the bad side of the magic.

Yesterday we had breakfast at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. Nice hotel (too rich for my blood though). Anyway, we went in and it's an AYCE buffett, with a great selection. Me, DW, DD12. We got our food, we were eating, then my DD12 says... "What's this inside my Mickey Waffle". Hmm.... "Looks like a cream cheese filling" I said (or something similar). DW cut into hers too and had the same. She tasted it and emphatically stated, it was NOT cream cheese filling. So, being the chef of my house, I tasted it. No doubt about it! Not cream cheese filling... Not ANY filling, rather it was Un-cooked batter.

We brought it to the attention of our server who took my wife's plate back to show the chef. A short bit later they took my daughters too. Then a manager came out and stated they were sorry and tried to explain how it happened (not that we cared how) and offered to have them cook up another waffle for us if we wanted. At this point we declined the waffles. That was the end of it. However, I was a bit "Miffed" thinking that for 3 of us to have a $105 breakfast (AFTER the discount for TIW was applied) that I would thought we might have gotten a bit more than a "Sorry, would you like a fresh waffle?" But hey.... Whatever.

So..... Anyway, DD wanted to ride the monorail, and DW wanted to do some shopping anyway, so after checking the shops at the GF, we went through the new security check at the GF to get on the monorail and rode it to the Contemporary Resort. No problem (although the monorail seemed much slower than I recall, but that's another story). So we do our bit t the CR and make a few purchases. Time to go back to the GF, get our truck and go back to our campsite.

Now we go through the CR security to get on the monorail. Now, all of a sudden, the little pocket utility razor knife I had (the smaller of the 2 that are sold here at Sears. With an OPEN dimension of less than about 4 inches in total), is now an issue. The same knife I took out of my pocket and put in the plastic tray at the GF to get to the CR, put in the tray to go to MK, then Epcot and even AK, is now an issue. I did not hide it and actually brought this particular one with me because our last trip, even thought they are allowed, a CM gave me grief about my leatherman. A small knife for an Ex-Army, Police, EMT, Dive Rescue person, hunter, and camper, is like a staple. My Futuer SIL gave me this because he knows it's handy (He kept the big one for his job).

So anyway, they would let me on to go back to my vehicle. I had to take the blade OUT. If it were a small pocket knife he said that would be okay, but because it's a "Razor" No way.

Just to be clear, here is a picture of the blades
small-razor.jpg
Which from "Amazon" Dimensions: Approx 1-1/8" tip to tip, 9/16" across top, 3/8" high

And less than HALF that blade sticks out of the knife when opened. So less than half an inch was my threatening tool.

Any way, that was the straw that morning. I left the Blade (only the blade not the knife) and I spoke with Guest services at the GF. Denny, who was absolutely OUTSTANDING and himself didn't understand the issue with the knife, was very helpful. When I told him how the magic disappeared that day starting with breakfast and then my Portable Machete Issue! Well, he brought the magic back by comping the entire breakfast and giving us 3 open Fast passes each for that day.

Thanks Denny. So now we have our magic back.

Thanks for following along and listening to the rant. Time to go on the FOP in AK.

Paul,

Glad things worked out. I hate to complain too, but at some point it starts to get ridiculous. I'm kind of surprised the GF didn't provide better service recover around the waffles. Last time at the Fort we had dinner at Narcoossee's. They bent over backwards to make sure everything was fine, including moving our table closer to the window when it was clear we wouldn't make it out in time to see Wishes.

Funny thing is, the other day my DW broke a tooth on a hard piece of bacon. Wasn't there fault. It just happened. We just made a joking comment to the waitress. She let the manager know and they gave us an anytime family fast pass. We weren't looking for anything out of it either. That's the magic I like. I hate to have to complain to get it.

Damn, I mean how hard is it to cook a waffle!?

Who's in that kitchen?

Well, at least you got to keep the knife, or at least the base of it. Strange how it can be just fine at multiple areas then not at another. You'd think for the big price you pay you could at least get consistency.

Now about that knife...

Wait one minute here... OK OK I will be that person.

"...and this is why we eat all our meals at the campsite when we are down at Disney.... blah blah blah" person in this thread.

Now back your regularly scheduled program.

@peg110 Wow the luck your family is having at WDW this go around. Kind of makes you wonder who is messing with you. However, I am pretty shocked the breakfast Buffet was that off. It's probably one of the best ones on property. I would have figured they would have done more as I never heard of the use of cream cheese in waffle batter. Pennsy thing? I mean hey you guys have that thing called scrapple. I hope you have better luck in the coming days.

no not a PA thing. I just figured it was maybe some new fancy thing they were doing. Obviously I was wrong. Yes we have scrapple where I live. NO, I do not eat it. :crazy2:

Alas all was made well in the end I suppose. I just hate it when I have to become the squeaky wheel. Funny thing is, I found I needed a knife no less than 3 times today. I had to make do with a nail file on the DWs nail clippers:sad2:

We are here at the same time.. hate having to leave on the 24th
Yeah.... DW and I were talking tonight..... Do we leave Late tomorrow (6/23) or early Saturday (6/24) Sucks either way though.
