Greetings. I am a new user but a long time lurking. The wife and I are huge Disney fans (many visits and engaged in MK!) and debating an April or May 2018 visit to WDW. If this is not the correct forum, please let me know.

My daughter will be 3 1/2 and we will have a 5 or 6 month old. We have a very flexible schedule but are interested in April / May as my wife will be on pregnancy leave. The weather seems good but I am reading conflicting information about the crowds. The new baby also makes me a bit concerned as we will definitely have to take it slow. We were able to do a lot of the rides together (minus the big rides) when my daughter was 2.5 years old but we will have to take turns due to the new baby. I realize the baby won't remember but I hope it isn't a bad idea to bring her. Any help is greatly appreciated.

We prefer May. Weather is beautiful and crowds are lower. We're going again May 2018 :)

Any particular week better than the other? May is 89F average which can be a bit toasty. Any particular reason why you don't consider April (83F)?

the baby will be fine get a good stroller and you will be golden, if you pick April do research about spring break dates in Florida, it gets super crowded, I prefer April over May, just for the weather

Disney is amazing. What started as an idea turned into a "go" within 24 hours. Yesterday, my 2 1/2 year old started to sing the "You are welcome" song from Moana and then my wife asked if she wanted to visit Mickey. I started to look into it and now are definitely going in April/May. I spent hours yesterday and settled on a family suite at the Art of Imagination in April/May. As you said, April is more appealing but we need to stay away from the school break. How can I figure that out given there are a lot of FL schools? We have a very flexible schedule. I usually get the 40% off cast member rate and check the various weeks to find the cheapest within the acceptable date range.

Looks like school breaks are in March! We're going for the first time ever the 3rd week of April (Dark Side Challenge here I come!).

Where are you finding that information? That's the week I am hoping for. First time ever? Oh my, you are in for a treat. I am 39 and still dream of WDW.

I did a Google Search for the Florida public school 2017-2018 school calendar and also the local colleges. All the Spring Breaks were in March. Easter is April 1, and Spring Break is usually before or right after Easter.

I've been to WDW numerous times and stayed a various resorts and I am still challenged to make that decision. I will ALWAYS stay on property to take advantage of Magic Hours and the transportation to come back during the afternoon for a nap/lunch but go back-n-forth between an "economical" Caribbean Beach or AOA or splurging for Polynesian. I tell myself that we only 'sleep' there but that excuse is not working with the wife anymore. :)

Polynesian is an easy "No" for us because we live in Hawaii. LOL I'm having trouble deciding between the Hotel with the animals outside (I can't remember the name), or the New Orleans inspired Hotel, or one of the more Cartoon like hotels (because our kids are young). Obviously, I still don't even know the NAMES of all the hotels. LOL I feel like with such a large family I have to decide pretty quickly or all the large family size rooms will be booked and I'll be out of luck. Any advice or recommendations would be GREATLY appreciated!

P.S. What's AOA? I'm off to find the acronym post on that other thread.

Art of Animation. You can spend hours doing research which I enjoy doing as I love to dive in.

Oh! AOA is on my list!! I think my kids (10, 8, 7, and 2 at the time of travel) would LOVE it. BUT the pool seems pretty basic and they are big time swimmers. . .

Caribbean Beach pool is great but the 7 different stops around the resort is a deal breaker. Pros/Cons. You just need to weight them out.

What do you mean by different stops around the resort? See, I'm a 100% newbie. LOL

it means the resort is so big that have internal transportation and it might not work if you have your onw vehicle and will use Disney buses exclusively
