The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

Congrats Denise!

A pretty great day. It's DW's Birthday! and Aug 1st was our 36th anniversary.

Looks like August was pretty popular in the early 80's.

Denise consider this You would have gotten less time if you had shot him
LOL

Happy anniversary Denise and frank. Are you going fishing?
Sadly no, August is mandatory work 7 days a week month.

And I was thinking you were about 36 years old.

Hey tiggerdad,

Has your body adjusted to your new hours? Working a daytime shift of 8-5 might throw your biorhythms off.

Seriously, I hope your first few days went well. Welcome to daylight hours (and nightime sleep).

Sorry, if the delay in responding to this is any indication it's been a BIG adjustment.

Neurology is a completely different beast from emergency medicine. I'm doing a lot of reading and studying and thus less posting. This trend will probably continue for a while so just help me out and use the "@" symbol in front of my name if you're directing something at me so I'll get a notification. I just realized all the threads I've missed and just happened to see yours Ed, so sorry on the delay.

Also, my daughters changed their dance studio and the new one has their recital the weekend after Memorial Day. This means practice the week before which is our GSP dismeet week. Looks like we'll only be there for 4-5 days this year instead of the usual 10.:headache:

We had actually entertained the idea of going to Disney that week but it's out for sure.:crazy2:

Now just gotta decide when to go in 2018...:scratchin

I told you Neuro would be crazy. And not just the patients. :D

Let me know what you're thinking for a WDW trip. I may have to modify our GSP trip. We are rolling out Epic across the enterprise and the current schedule for "academic campuses" to go live is the first week of June. They just went live with the first hospital this past weekend and it hasn't been a disaster... yet, so my thoughts that we would never be ready for a June 18 rollout may be wrong. 10 months and 11 more hospitals is a long time.

I've been toying around with converting my tickets to APs when we are down next month. I've also been looking at St. Thomas (or another Caribbean island) for a beach trip next year. Getting APs this year would make a Disney trip next year much cheaper.

I am not camping but at a lake house in Centre, AL. We are on Weiss lake. It's a girls weekend, but I did not bring Mallory with. Bert is holding the fort and taking care of Yeti and Mallory. Hope he holds up but I will be home tomorrow. Just wanted to say hi to all my Alabama friends.

I thought the sun chased the rain away yesterday here in Alabama. Now we know it was Kris headed for the state line. :beach:

Life is good here today. Why, you might ask? Well this is the time of year when Alabama football season tickets ship out via UPS. Those of us local in Title Town have the advance opportunity to go down to the UPS sorting center and pick them up in person rather than having them flown out and then trucked back and delivered to my house in a couple days.

So I moseyed down to UPS this morning and got my tix. Sold the LSU game on Stub Hub already (back in March actually) to pay for the October Disney trip (more than covered it with 4 tickets). There were bins full of tickets ready to be picked up.

Hope you had a good stay at Weiss Lake. My dad and I along with my children spent many spring breaks on Weiss Lake crappie fishing. Some of the best around. We stayed at Pruett's Fish Camp which is now Cowan Creek Resort. A lot of really good times and memories. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Kris far be it for me to judge but between the "OUT OF TOWN BUSINESS TRIPS" and now the "GIRLS" trip I have to wonder are you really just out seeing other dogs on the side

Mike, I did a 12 mile run yesterday morning. People here tend to just let their dogs out. My route was a loop I had to do three times. At the beginning of the first loop I had a four legged friend. He did 2.5 loops with me, about 8 miles. He was great though any other dogs that came out he would greet, keep away from me and then jump back ahead of me and run. I was worried he would come all the back with me but I guess he got tired. Am sure he slept good the rest of the day and the owners probably wondered what he had done. So yes there was some shaningins going on.

Kris you are being a BAD BAD MOMMY. Bragging about your running around the neighborhood with any dog that comes along. My three let me know they are unhappy if I so much as look at another dog. If I go say hi to my friend Goofball next door( He thinks I should move in with them) they let me know it. Katie doesn't even want me to acknowledge WookieBear or Sky pushing her way in and trying to lick their scent off my clothing

Mike, the only person happy to see me when I got home was Bert. Mallory was definitely like screw you mommy. We did have fun changing yeti's bandage so he did lay with momma for that. Hopefully when Mallory goes to the park tomorrow she will forgive me.

@tiggerdad or anyone else who has a suggestion. We have to bandage yeti's arm. We tried stitches, staples and now we are on bandage. The cut is on his elbow. We must change his bandage every 2 days. We are actually doing pretty good changing it. The issue is getting the tape off his skin when we take the old bandage off. It is really stuck and now his skin where the tape is is getting irritated. Internet said to try baby oil to loosen the stickiness. Have not tried it yet but wondering what other suggestions someone has?

Kris,

It depends on what kind of tape you are using. Bandage tape (thick tough cloth type tape with a sticky glue) is pretty tough. We had little packets (looked like alcohol pads) of adhesive remover when I worked in the ICU, but I don't know what the chemical was. They looked like THESE. You might try your pharmacy.

We normally used silk tape unless it was something that would constantly stay damp. The glue wasn't as nasty and it was much easier to remove the tape without damaging the skin. If her skin is real fragile, get some Durapore tape. It doesn't hold bandages quite as well, but it is very easy on the skin and can be removed with almost no trauma.

We have an adhesive remover we use in ED that is safe for skin. I have seen a similar brand at Wal Mart.

To keep from using the adhesive, try using Coban instead.
