Is there anything going on next week? Other then the end of MSEP?

just curious as to why the crowd calendars are saying it will be packed all week. I understand most want to see the parade for the final time but is something else going as well? Just curious!

I think So Cal APers are allowed back in after a long summer away.

I take that back, they aren't let in until the following week. So I don't know?

Disney is offering a blockout ticket now for those with blocked out APs. It is still a fairly recent move so we don't know how much of an impact it will have as the end of MSEP grows nearer.

Really? I just went last weekend and had to buy a one day ticket for Saturday because I was blocked! I wish I knew!

Which week are you looking at? IsItPacked.com is showing that's it's alright next week (14-20) and packed the week after that, which is when the APs are unblocked. I'm panicking now because I arrive tomorrow! Lol!

Oh you're looking ahead 1 more week. If it's any consolation we went last year roughly the same week as you're going and it was busy but certainly manageable. I guess there's never really a not busy time to go anymore!!

I think a lot of people will show at rope drop on the 21st, pick a spot, and stay there for next 3 hours or so for the eclipse.

Well that makes me feel a little better. Seeing the crowd calendar thing had me a little concerned. I went the end of august last summer (first trip!) and longest I've waited for a ride was 15 mins. I feel like that's pretty uncommon though. I realize there are no slow times anymore and there will always be crowds but I am a bit concererned and not sure if I should just wait until later in the year. I'm not local so I don't go often. I actually live on the east coast and after many trips to wdw fell in love with Disneyland last summer.
This summer however has been extremely rough. First my dog passed away suddenly. If you're a big animal lover like me you understand the pain. Then a few weeks later lost my grandmother. Been in kind of a depression. Just been doing a lot of work this summer and haven't done anything fun for myself. Not to sound selfish but I feel like I need to do something for myself. Like any normal person I wanted to feel happy again and Disney can defiantly do that! I would be going before my classes start up again. Just feel like I need a break and need to reset and feel good again before the stress of school starts up. Here we start the first week of September.
Something that alarmed me today was I called disney and was told they were no longer selling tickets for certain days when I was planning to be there. I'm ok with crowds there will always be crowds but somehow when they mentioned this I pictured Christmas week crowds lol those can't be fun! Although I can't really say since I've never experienced it. I've seen photos though.
Sooo any opinions on this? Do you think it will be really bad other than the day the parade leaves?

Oh my goodness you've had a rough time! You definitely do need a break. I think you'll be ok, I'd probably still go. If you use MP it should help a lot with your wait times and just take it easy with your park touring. Don't rush and just enjoy yourself!!

Are Sundays usually busier than Saturdays? I presumed Saturday would be but is it packed is showing 26th as quieter than the 27th. We have 2 days in the parks and are also visiting the 28th

The CHOC walk is happening on Sunday, Aug 27.. which (from what I've read) will make the parks very busy on that Sunday. (And it just happens to be our first day in the parks.. the CHOC walk wasn't on my radar at all when I booked the trip way back in January. Previous years, the walk has taken place in October).

Ah thank you didn't realise there was something on. Think we will do the Saturday and Monday then before our flight home Tuesday

Good call!!! I would totally be switching that day in the parks, if we had an extra day.. but we don't, so we just have to go with it. I'm mostly bummed that the park doesn't open until 10am that day.. whereas it's almost always 8am on weekends :(
