Pop Century Room Renovations

Current requests.......

What the heck is a grandstand section or near paddock?!?

Odd, those are SSR area requests

Confused re coffee pot. Appears not a kcup (boohoo) but a smaller traditional type, as found in the WDW resorts?

For those I usually buy at home the maxwell house round filter packs & toss in suitcase, each makes 4 cups & some shelf-stable liquid creamer

Have there been any pics posted yet of the rehabed accessible rooms?

Come on building 10!!!

Hopefully they will get back to working on renovations next week, and not having too much damage from Irma.

Agree. Obviously I hope there is minimal to no damage in or around Orlando for the sake of everyone living there. But selfishly, I'm thinking man, this is already slowing them down on bldg 10, and they're going to be at least a week behind on closing 6.

Riding out Irma at Pop right now. I'm in building 9. They stopped construction on #10 on Wednesday. We extended our trip until this Thursday (only $170 for 2 extra days). I'll report back to see if construction restarts while I am here. We only have light rain right now, and no word if/when there will be a curfew today (winds are not as strong as originally feared).

Yes, stay safe, Jessiegirl. I've been watching the livestream of WESH 2 online and pretty sure they just talked about a curfew but I'm not sure on details. They do have a tornado warning for Osceola county right now.

Thanks! Curfew is 7p, but not sure when it will end. Raining pretty hard now, so not venturing out. Meal distribution has been very organized, though. Only $6 for a sandwich, water, cookie, chips, cake or granola bar. We still had to use some QS credits, though because we have a bunch still to use.

Sadly had to make the decision to cancel the trip we'd planned for this week (we were to fly in last Friday) but a new countdown for January has begun! Will be following this thread for a few more months as more and more buildings are renovated! :)
So sorry to hear this! You and your DD must both be feeling sad. I think you made a wise decision, though. Hope the next few months will pass quickly for you! At least you're able to look on the bright side, more renovated buildings = better chance of getting a room in one!

Thanks @ColoradoMom12.

There were lots of tears (for both of us) when I shared the news with her but spending the weekend making dining reservations and planning park days for our new trip definitely helped a lot! :)

I'm sorry but I'm new to this thread and haven't gone through all 150 pages yet. But from what I have read it sounds like the 80's and 90's have been complete, correct? Now working on the 70's? I see building numbers reference here. Is there a map that shows building numbers?
We are arriving Dec 9th. Any word on which sections (or building numbers) should be complete by then?
What the best way to request a refurbished room?
Thanks in advance.

Currently at Pop, had checked in on 30/8 and it wasn't available then.

But as I am checking out and checking back in tomorrow (two separate reservations), I stopped by the front desk earlier to confirm that I could stay in my room and also asked about this - and it is back! But at a lower rate of $10/day (so for e.g. a 5 night stay you would get $40 because that's 4 days of housekeeping you're opting out of), in the form of a Disney gift card that's emailed to you. I'm very happy about this as half the time I don't need/want housekeeping anyway!

It's been a while since I've been here at DisBoards or to Disney. Does housekeeping have to be paid for now? So, if you don't pay extra, you don't get your room made up?

Pop recently started offering a gift card if you choose not to have housekeeping during your stay. My understanding is that it is $10 per night of your stay minus the final night as housekeeping will need to clean your room.

If you are there 5 nights or less there will be no cleaning. If you are there 6 nights or more there will be one cleaning 1/2 way through your stay. At any time you can call for towels, toiletries, etc.

Ok, that's not too bad. I thought if you wanted your room cleaned you would HAVE to pay. That doesn't sit well with me. I'd be happy to have a discount for not having it done...plus the savings on mousekeeping tip as well.

Yup the gift card is great! Given that approximately half the time I don't want/need mousekeeping anyway and put a do not disturb sign on the door, it's nice to also get a gift card for not wanting/needing mousekeeping!

(I feel a bit bad though, as I opted for the gift card last week, then left early because of the hurricane so ended up with a gift card for more money than I should have! Though the CM at Pop basically told me to keep it since really, no one was really expecting how bad the hurricane was going to be and for people to be checking out early...)

I've heard that the gift card is in the form of an email. Is this correct? If so, is there an expiry attached to it?

We had to reschedule ours too. Was supposed to arrive Saturday the 9th. Now we are going Sept 30th. Few more weeks to heal from my car wreck and plan. Now I just need to get a new BOG breakfast reservation!
