Hey Fin (and others)...I just was looking at what you and Mitch wrote on the wall and started thinking.

Does anyone else think it would be better to have Javy at short and Addie at 2nd? While I think Addie is great, I think Javy was phenomenal during his absence.

Btw, I agree 100% with the umpire’s own postgame explanation:

Layne also suggested the contact Baez’s bat made with Wieters did not affect the play.

“When the ball gets past him, all right, in my judgment he didn’t have any more opportunity after he had a chance to field the ball,” Layne said. “There was no further play that could have been made on it. The graze of the helmet didn’t have anything to do, in my judgment, with anything at all, with that particular play. I understand, it’s pretty much my judgment. Cubs got a lot of breaks today (replay and non-replay etc). I wonder if that’s why the pitch calls seemed in Nats favor later. Make-ups? Aww who cares. This is amazing.

I don't think they really got breaks though...the challenges were in their favor because they were the right calls. The umpire at first couldn't see his foot come off the bag because Rizzo's leg was between him and the foot. I was thrilled with Jay's slide into 2nd...I thought initially he was out. Weiters whining about he foul tipped the ball. Well why did you chase after it then? When that didn't work...he hit my mask. Ugh!!! I did notice the umps not giving us strikes again. Seems a consistent theme thus far sadly.
