From my understanding, FW has always been dog friendly. You could have always stayed there.Since it’s only certain resorts, I don’t see the big deal. If you don’t like dogs or are allergic or whatever the issue is, don’t stay there. I will not bring my dog every trip, but I like the option. I have had tough choices to make about going on trips when I had elderly dogs or dogs with chronic conditions that would not do well boarding. I always said wdw should have at least one pet friendly hotel & that they could charge a good bit b/c there are ppl willing to pay that for that privilege.
Try swan or dolphin. They are pet free and have many food options. I'm already researching it and DVC resale companies to sell my points if this spreads to other resorts. This is my breaking point. There's a lot of recent changes that I've not been happy with, but rolled with. This is a deal breaker.
Even tough I am a year out, I now have to change resorts. I cannot stay in a room that has been occupied by a dog or multiple dogs. I am so sad I am sick. I researched hotels and not DH and I were thrilled to stay at POR. With luck, I can get a room at FQ near Riverside. Ugh, I don't like the FQ decor, the menu in the food court, or four story buildings...
Not sure people that have to fly would take dog. I know I wouldn’t take my dog on a flight, we are on the west coast. Good thing my DH isn’t a Disney fan and stays home and takes care of our 2. When I read this post, in my mind I thought it would be people who are close enough to drive that may bring dog.I like animals just about as much as I like other people's kids...
We are checking into Wilderness lodge next week. Will take a mental note of any animals on the plane/DME.

So the dog will get priority over the guest? Oh, this is a really good customer policy.(sarcastically)You were probably posting when I responded above
The dogs need to be in a carrier.
But if there is an allergy conflict, the allergy party needs to wait for the next bus. (Supposedly...)
I actually thought it may decrease this. My thought is that ppl did that to bring their dogs with them but only brought them to the parks b/c they weren’t allowed to leave them in the room b/c a true service dog would need to be with his person. But now some ppl will quit that. Maybe, I’m wrong. Just a thought. As a service dog handler I HATE this. This will increase people slapping a vest in Fluffy to get them in the park, which in turn will put me and my service dog at risk. What happens when a pet dog hurts one of our highly trained service dogs? My service dog happens to be small and an energetic and rambunctious dog could harm him without even meaning to.
I actually never knew that til today. I thought it was I only the campsites. From my understanding, FW has always been dog friendly. You could have always stayed there.
It’s not the dog that gets priority, but, perhaps, you could argue they’re prioritizing guests. So the dog will get priority over the guest? Oh, this is a really good customer policy.(sarcastically)
if Disney is not limiting the breed of dog, how large do these carriers go? How will it fit on the ME bus, where does it go? Who lifts it up?
There are a million questions that have been brought up today on all these various threads. I was flamed today (on another thread) for my opinion, that this is just bad policy and that this new policy is not well thought out. However as the day goes by, it seems that more people are against this policy, then are for this new policy. We must make Disney hear all our voices.

Ok. That’s what I thought.FW is the campsites. Unless I’m misunderstanding your post.
because they can get an extra $50-$75/night and they probably got the idea after they managed after they allowed pets in the hotels during Hurricane Irma
Did you pay to switch? I was told there is nothing that they can do for us and that they put a note on our reservation to not be near the dogs but now others have said dogs will be allowed in whatever rooms not just a section.I was in disbelief when I heard the news about dogs being allowed in certain WDW resorts. We are staying at AOA Lion King Suite March 2018.
After calling Disney today I have switched resorts and my family was very saddened by this since this was our 1st stay AOA.
I had many questions which the CM answered and was very understanding. Like others, I also love dogs but do not agree with this.
One of the questions I asked were, " Is there a weight limit on the dogs that are allowed to stay" CM checked with a supervisor and said as of right now there is no restriction on weight or breed of the dog.
I was also told that dogs (except service animals) would not be allowed in food courts and restricted to certain paths at resorts. I asked were there going to be dog Police to enforce these rules lol.
CM also told that WDW will work with anyone that has pet allergies, which my daughter has.
If rooms get destroyed by dogs that are not used to be confined for hours by themselves, so be it, WDW is asking for this.
My real concern is for the well being & safety of the guests that are staying at these resorts.
This thread has me wondering how Disney deals with people that have service dogs and emotional support animals? I'm sure from a legal aspect they would have to accomodate them, but how is that currently run? Only certain resorts or designated rooms at all resorts? I don't know anything about the program...
