We are sailing on RCCL Empress of the Seas next year to Cuba. Any hotel recommendations in FLL -- especially ones that might let you leave your car for free and shuttle you to the port? Thanks.

There are lots of them- depends on what you are willing to spend. Most charge for the shuttle to the port so it can be cheaper to take a cab or Uber if you stay close to Port Everglades. I think they all charge for parking. Make sure you check out royalcaribbeanblog.com - there has been a blog on there- I think from Empress- about the trip to Cuba- I think you find the information very useful! Have a great trip!

Booking Hyatt Place Convention Centre through Valuetrips gives you free parking. I didn't actually know that until the hotel manager told me when I checked in. I believe they also have a shuttle but I don't think it's free.

I have that booked through booking.com and it is $7 a day for parking. I have only found FREE shuttles from the airport not to the port. I think there are different packages available. Four of us are flying and two are driving. I booked 10 months in advance and keep my eye on it- so far the price has only gone up- that makes me happy:)

Actually quite nice. It’s no Fairmont, mind you... :)

The room has a half-wall that splits it into a sleeping area and a sitting area with a corner sofa. It’s spacious enough that, if we were being frugal, we could sleep an extra 4-6 adults on the pullout sofa and on the sitting room floor. Hot breakfast is a nice perk, and there’s a plaza nearby where you can pick up some wine to bring aboard.

Do check out the valuetrips site as they have the hotel for $110 for some parts of the year. Site looks dodgy as heck, but it’s legit (the cc forum folk seem to like it as well) and the hotel staff are fully aware of the site.

I did look at it- they don't have 2018 yet- if I could guess , I think April prices would probably save us $60! A good savings but I am afraid to redo it- 3 rooms :(

I've also booked Hyatt Place through valuetrips in the past. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I like the hotel, there are places to eat within walking distance. We shopped at Total Wine for wine to bring onboard. We took the Sun Trolley to the beach.

I think the shuttle to the port was $7 per person. We chose to take a taxi.

Thanks! I will have to watch for 2018 prices!

I hear you. But at least you have rooms right now, and I assume you booked the refundable rate via booking.com so you can switch to a cheaper rate as needed. That's basically what we do - get a room and keep that until we find a better deal.

I would just do taxis to the port. If you have 3 or more people a taxi is cheaper and it's much faster unless you manage to magically time coming out for a shuttle just right.

We are driving down -- so I was just trying to find the best scenario for parking the car for the week. I think I'll just go to the port as I don't think it's that expensive to park.

I think we paid $15 a day at the Port this past February.
