This is exactly what I had planned...we don’t plan on using many QS for breakfast, but the dining plan wording specifically says an entree and one non-alcoholic or alcoholic drink (for those over 21) are included for breakfast, QS or TS. I definitely planned on using my refillable mug for coffee and a beer for enjoying later on the balcony!
There is the possibility that this just happened to be the way AKL was doing it. I think we have all experienced situations where one thing was “allowed” in one place, yet not in another. I would suggest you try it. The worst thing that can happen is that they will tell you that you can’t get it. Honestly, I didn’t try it because I don’t like beer. If they had anything other then that, I may have done just as you planned to do.

Clearly pooled credits are not hurting Disney or the loophole would be closed. If you are paying OOP for the child, you are paying them more money above and beyond what was paid for the plan. Even if the profit margin is not as large, it is still profit.

I was wondering the same thing, so I did a quick search...

Osceola County allows you to buy alcohol beginning at 7 am, Monday thru Saturday. On Sundays, sales begin at 9 am at liquor stores, gas stations, and supermarkets, and 11 am at bars and restaurants.

In Orange County, you can purchase alcohol in liquor stores, gas stations, and supermarkets starting at 9 am, 7 days a week. In bars and restaurants, sales begin at 11 am.

From what I've read, most of Disney World falls under Orange County (I'm not 100% on this, so please correct me if I'm wrong), so maybe that's why people are having trouble getting alcohol early?

I'm thinking there have to be exceptions to those rules because they've been serving mimosas and bloody Marys with breakfast and brunch for years. I haven't read a single report of those being unavailable for the first hour of brunch at Cali Grill, for example, or of anyone being told they can't have a mimosa flight at Kona during breakfast hours.

At this point, I'd take an isolated report as being either how one cast member or one manager is interpreting a new and still vague policy. It could be that Disney will limit the purchase of take-out alcohol, essentially creating a different set of rules for the resort QS locations, to prevent guests from getting alcohol with breakfast to stash in the room fridge for later. Or it could be that it will be left to the discretion of individual locations, like the ability to sub a snack for the included drink at resort QS meals. Or it could be that one cast member thought that alcohol, like dessert, isn't included with breakfast. We just don't have enough info to guess at an across-the-board policy on this yet.

I'll be at Tusker House for breakfast on Friday. I'll update on if we could get booze with the buffet, in the morning.

Has it been confirmed they are still allowing people to use their credits to pay for the meals of other people not on dining plans?

Does anyone know if you are able to get alcohol with Akershus breakfast? I don't see it as an optional drink on the menu but we are thinking of eating there and I didn't know if you could even order an alcoholic drink at breakfast time. At Cape May I see a bunch of options at breakfast. Just curious! Thanks!

Yes, we did this at almost every meal. We also shared 2 meal credits among 4 people. Both were no problem at all.

We had mimosas at Tusker House along with coffee and Jungle Juice. In fact, our server offered to make our mimosas WITH Jungle Juice.

Does anyone know if you get an alcobolic beverage at Tusker House on the ROL package? Or is it only if you book the regular dinner?

Has anybody been to Cinderella's Royal Table since the start of the year? We are curious if alcohol is included on the DDP. I know it is included with most sit down but is it treated differently here since the meal is pre-paid and prix fix, regardless whether on the meal plan or not? On the restaurant's website it appears it might be a separate charge for everybody?

Has anyone tried to use a snack credit at the pool bar for a drink?

Any idea on the lapu lapu with dinner at Ohana? On the deluxe are we allowed to get this drink?

Thanks
