January 2018 Weight Loss Challenge

My feet hurt a lot. It is the worst. I am hoping that losing weight will help.

It has helped my knees a LOT (61 pounds down). I also had a lot of general stiffness after sitting for a while, and that's improved significantly. This really felt like an injury over general aches and pains (which I do ignore), which is why I sat out this morning - it feels somewhat better this afternoon after resting most of the day.

My feet hurt a lot. It is the worst. I am hoping that losing weight will help. I did go for a walk with DH at lunch and that seemed to help but I am going to rest the rest of the night. I think this is just my normal digestive issues. I thought this morning it was going to be the flu. I am not feeling sick to my stomach anymore.
I've also been having sore feet, but I think it is primarily due to the down comforter thing... even when I had the quilt on the bed the comforter was folded across the foot of the bed to keep my feet warm. One thing I do for my feet is roll them on a massage ball that is about the size of a tennis ball (you can use a tennis ball)... you step down while you're rolling and it opens up your feet and releases stuck places.

I think I am going to bow out of challenge now. life just became too hard for the moment. thanks for letting me post in here. my mom passed away yesterday and i am kind of lost. it was out of the blue. woman had been incredibly healthy her whole life. she was hiking, told those with her it was so beautiful, then just collapsed. i don't want to exercise. i just want to cry. i wish all of you the best in your weight loss.

I am really sorry for your loss. :(.

I am out for this month too, I am really glad I didn't take on being the host. It's been way too stressful month and there doesn't seem to be end to it

Well, it's been a rough week so far. I got rid of all the left overs (except for the cake which I am still enjoying slivers of... shh! :) ) but the scale is not too happy with that. February is where my intention and focus is right now though. I am still on track for a loss over all for the month thank goodness, but I could have had some better choices (like yesterday when the chicken wasn't defrosted so I picked up take out for dinner.... and let DH pick where to get from.... where even the salad I got wasn't exactly a good option Haha!)

Oh well, I guess this is part of my over all holiday slump. Most everyone's holiday season ends Jan 1, but with both our birthdays and two big families that we celebrate both of those birthdays with, our holiday season doesn't end until Jan 23rd apparently. I need to manage my expectations accordingly so as not to miss out but not 100% derail. I have to forgive, move on, and be better today.

Which I am-- I've got a 0 point breakfast on my desk, not sure exactly what lunch will bring since the office gets lunch on Fridays but I will be able to choose something healthy to be ordered, and I'm planning a green protein smoothie for dinner with a little fruit and veg on the side.

I'm also excited to FINALLY be getting back to the gym today after a 2 week absence! Woohoo!

So while I am failing pretty hard with my goal (what tracking?! :rotfl2:), I am in a good place overall.... *chanting to myself* Progress not perfection, progress not perfection...

Ok, that's my ramble for the day. Happy Friday, all!

Happy Friday everyone!

My overall accountability towards my goals for the month is shot, gone, by-by. But I feel like figuring out what was making me feel so crappy was a huge success: that and the getting-rid-of-stuff work I've been doing puts me in a much better place moving on to February. With each feather-free day I'm feeling better, heck Wednesday night I did my Thursday night household chores which I had been letting slip until Sunday, so that's a significant turn around.

It's supposed to be pretty rainy over the weekend, but I'll bundle up and get in some outdoors time anyway. There's also a lot more sorting, organizing and getting rid of stuff to do, all pretty exciting stuff...

Are you drinking your water? I find when I've got gains, it's usually water retention related.

How is everyone doing on their goals this month. I used my new scale for the 1st time on Saturday and it is showing a gain. I had a feeling since I can tell my feet are swollen. Over the next few days it is push the water, soak in epsom salts and see if I have some magnesium. I am seriously looking into compression stockings but want to wait till I have enough money to get 2-3 pairs since they would have to be hand washed and hung to dry. With 2 I could have 1 drying and wear the other one and with 3 I could have a spare.

235.4 ..... dammit

Good evening! Goals are going all right for the month -- I vegged out yesterday -- slept until 9:30, then took a 2-hour nap in the afternoon, and didn't walk...at all. My left foot has been hurting because I'd tied my sneaker too tight, and then my right foot started hurting probably because I was walking weird on it. And yesterday was a day of just mindless snacking, when I wasn't sleeping. Just call me Garfield.

So today, foot feels better. I'm at a hotel because of a business meeting Monday and Tuesday. Eating dinner now, but plan to go to the fitness center to get my step goal.

Good Monday morning fellow healthful journeyers.

It was a super productive weekend... I applied the 'set minimum goals' philosophy and also the '20/10' style of house keeping, both to great success. Upstairs in the house I only have the two bedroom closets, the pantry and the kitchen junk drawer left to go thru, then some general housekeeping chores, like mopping the floors. It feels fantastic to have accomplished so much and the energy in the house is so much lighter and open, which is one of the core areas of focus in the course I'm taking... open up space to shift your life. I'm really trying to break the 'all or nothing' mindset that usually pushes me in to 'nothing'. The 20/10 style of housekeeping (20 minutes cleaning/10 minutes break) is part of this... I did a few things, sat and knit, did a few more things, sat and knit. By mid-day Sunday I was thinking about what chore I was going to do next while I was knitting, and far exceeded the minimum goals I had set out to accomplish over the weekend.

Eating wise it wasn't super great, but I'll get there. The same skills I'm applying to the purge/reorganization of the house will also work with food management and general health goals: 20/10... do the best thing most of the time but know that there will be breaks, and setting minimum expectations for exercising, and not think I have to go climb a mountain.

The details for the retreat in Alaska were finally posted yesterday, it looks fabulous and I got signed up: a couple days of classes, some lectures, a few group meals and a day long land excursion and a day long sea excursion, where we'll get out and explore but also take our knitting with us... exactly what I was hoping for.

Oh, and I feel really good... Sunday I didn't even need to take a nap in the afternoon. Now I just need to avoid catching the crud that's going around the office.

I also had a productive weekend -- I finally tackled some housework that was getting out of hand, scheduled my upcoming gym classes and some yoga, went grocery shopping and meal prepped for the week, and then topped it all off with getting my little toe hung on a suitcase in the bedroom and CRACK! ......

Well, there goes the gym and yoga..... *sigh* I was in such a good place too..... So in the spirit of not completely giving up, since I can't go to yoga, I am going to do the meditation class instead. And since I can't focus on the gym like was the plan, I am going to continue my intentions with healthy meal prep and staying on plan with WW.

I had a good talk with DH too who consistently says he wants to try to do better with meal prep to be healthier and save money, but who inevitably falls off the track and then we enable each others bad decisions (we work together if one of us goes off plan, chances are the other does too- Haha!). We realized he had no specific goals so it was overwhelming. We decided to bring lunch 3 times a week (Fridays office provides, and that gives him one day to get lunch out since he loves it so much and doesn't want to completely overhaul his life) and no buying coffee. I got him a K-cup thing for his desk for his birthday so no excuses! I'm excited to have come to this together, because having him working on meal prep helps me out!

Alright, that's it for now. I'm off to hobble over to meditation :-) Maybe I need this right now-- focus on fueling myself well, focus on meditating more, etc. There's gotta be a silver lining!

Happy Monday everyone! Today was weigh in day for me and I am down 2.5 lbs for a total of 15 lbs down in 4 weeks! I haven't really been very active during these last 4 weeks so my goal is to up the activity from here on out!! We have a WDW trip booked for May and I want to be ready for all the walking I know we will be doing!!

Well, I'm so glad I could donate what would have been my productivity this past weekend to you all!

Saturday I slept until 9:30 a.m. (unheard-of, as during the week I get up at 4:15 a.m.). Somehow I hurt the top of my left foot (shoe too tight, I believe), and then twisted my right one. So I rested on Saturday and didn't do anything. Really. Except take a nap for a couple of hours in the afternoon, and go to bed at 9:00.

Sunday wasn't much better -- I have a meeting that I had to stay downtown for, so there went most of the day. Fortunately, both feet are much better today, and I was able to use the hotel's fitness center treadmill for 2 miles, and I should meet my step goal.

And Saturday I actually overate for the first time in a really, really long time, and overate on stuff like Cheetos, cheese and crackers, and scotch. I still need to journal what all I did Saturday and Sunday, but do have it all listed. I think some of it was depression for not being able to walk. Grr.

But I was on plan yesterday and today, so there's that!

Good morning everyone! I am slowly getting back into healthy living again. Stepped in a scale (not good...), started tracking food again. I also had a doctors appointment where they took 2 liters of blood to check out all kind of things to see why I am having so much trouble losing weight.

Next step: I got a GPS watch for Christmas and only ran twice with it so far. So, my plan is to get back into running in the morning again!

I am trying really hard not to go down to the store and buy a candy bar. It has been a somewhat rough day. DD fell last night and hit her wrist. The nurse at her school said there is a possibility it is broke. So she if off to the Orthopedic tomorrow morning which will throw my day off tomorrow so I am trying to eat good today. Plus her school is making me so mad which is not helping. 20 more minutes of work and then I will be good. I can do this.
