Annual pass and Fast Passes

Hi everyone. We have so many trips to Disney planned that we bought Annual Passes as it is going to save us a ton of money. The problem is, our first trip, Easter week, we are staying at Universal due to lack of options and super high prices on what was left on Disney property. I know we can't book Fastpasses until 30 days out because we are not on property but I am really confused about how we can even book Fastpasses at all. Our Annual Pass will not even be activated until the first day that we get to DisneyWorld. Is there any way at all to book Fastpasses in this kind of situation? I hate to go into the park with no fastpasses, that will really hurt us but if we have no choice we will have to make it work. Luckily we are going back 3 more times before our passes will run out so in the future we can use Fastpasses but during such an insanely busy time I am sure we will have a hard time getting anything the day of. Is there any way they work with you on this?

tldr: Staying off property and Annual passes are not activated yet, how/when can we book Fastpasses?

Our Annual Pass will not even be activated until the first day that we get to DisneyWorld.

This past April i did have a WDW resort reservation, but an AP which was purchased but not activated until i entered our first park. So i was able to book FP at 60 days with just the purchased pass in my account. I would believe that you could book 30 days out.

I would call the clarify, but i think you would at least have the 30d access. Hopefully someone else here can confirm.

If your AP is purchased, you can link its number in MDE and book FP. It does not have to be activated. You only have to link it to yourself.

Thanks. I went online and went to try to book Fastpasses just to check and it was letting me book them up until March 15th which is 30 days away so even though it is not activated the system recognizes we have the passes and is letting us book. Thanks!

I was surprised to see good times for FOP 30 days away. I know it is a slower time and competition will be MUCH heavier during Easter week but hopefully I can find a day in there somewhere with a FOP FP.

They just released more FoP FP this afternoon to reflect extended hours. Usually there isn't FoP availability at 30 days. There aren't any FoP left on March 15 right now. :-(

How many days worth of FP+ are you going to book with you APs?

MDX will limit you to 7 days unless you have an onsite reservation longer than that.

Thanks, I had no idea that was an issue. The good news is we will only be there for 7 days and 3 of those will be at Universal so I will only be booking 4 days worth of FP, possibly a 5th if we decide to leave Universal early on that 3rd day.

Yeah, one thing you need to watch out for is if you have an off-site stay plus on-site stay (including if those are 2 separate trips, but you will have FPs booked at the same time for them). The rule is you can book either up to 7 days of advance FPs, or the number of days staying on-site. Where you run into problems is if you have, for example, an 8-day on-site stay, as well as a 3-day off-site stay. So you can book all 8 of those on-site days. But then those will count towards the 7-days of general FPs, so you wouldn't be able to book any for the 3-day stay until you had started using the other 8 on-site days. Make sense?

They could only book 7 total days of FPs, so could book all 4 days off-site, then 3 days of the on-site. Once they used one of their off-site days, they were able to book the 4th on-site day.

Luckily that is not an issue, we will be off property for our entire stay this next trip. When we go back in the summer and at Christmas we will be on property the whole time. Glad to know in case we have that kind of situation in the future.

This is awesome to hear. We will be first time AP's staying for 3 to 4 weeks onsite. Glad to hear we will be able to book FP for those 3/4 weeks.
