So it looks like Be Our Guest is becoming Prix Fixe Meal and 2TS credits...thoughts?

I've had dinner twice at BOG, and both times, the meal for two cost between $100-150, with app, main, and dessert, plus a couple of drinks. So $55 is around ball park of what you were paying for an adult three course meal anyways. The $35 for kids is a bit steeper, I would have thought $25-30 range. And 2 dining credits is a bit, but we don't use the DDP. You also can be on DDP and pay out of pocket if you don't think the 2 TS credits is worth it. But the $55 is almost spot on to what it is now.
Oh, and poulet rouge is just red chicken. My guess is it will be sprinkled with paprika for seasoning...hence, red chicken ;)

The $35 kids price is ridiculous. Compare it with the price of kids meals at any of the other signatures. Kids app, entree, dessert, and drink--- most signatures will be around $20-$22. The only restaurants where you see in the $30s and higher for kids are character meals and dinner shows, where you're obviously paying for the entertainment/ characters. Interesting decor and ONE character that doesn't even come to the table doesn't make up for the exorbitant price difference between all the other Sig's and what will be charged for kids at BOG.

The adult price of $55 is incredibly reasonable considering right now if someone ordered the mussels app, the steak, dessert, and a NON-alcoholic beverage, they would be paying ~$60.

2 credits on the DDP is ridiculous though at this price point. For comparison, Akershus (dinner) is currently $60.71 for adults and $36.21 for kids. Both price points are higher than what's being advertised for BOG, and they have 5 characters who come to the table for only 1 TS credit vs BOG's 2 credits.

Okay, thanks.

I wasn't aware that some restaurants could require two credits for dinner but only one for lunch.

I thought that all of the "Signature Restaurants" were always two credits, regardless of the time of day.
I think Le Cellier used to be 1 TS for lunch & dinner. Then for awhile it was 1 TS lunch and 2 TS dinner. Now it’s 2 TS lunch & dinner.
Our most recent trip we canceled our dinner ADR at BOG because we also had lunch there (twice) and I just couldn’t see spending 1 TS for the same restaurant I was eating at for a QS credit. I really don’t see myself having dinner at BOG when I can have lunch there for a QS credit and later head over to nearby favorites - California Grill or Narcoosees for the same 2 TS for dinner.
The menu looks interesting, but they’ll need to up their desert offerings from those currently available, IMO.
A lot of people have posted about getting dinner ADRs @ BOG to meet the beast and just have desert or a soup or split an entree, so I can’t blame Disney for wanting to fill their restaurant with people actually paying for an entire meal. Sort of like a character buffet w/out the buffet or maybe like Ohana w/ their family style service or Hoop De Doo where you’re paying for the entertainment rather than the value of the fried chicken dinner.

I’m surprised lunch hasn’t gone to 1 table service credit too.

Is it more dinner where reservations are impossible to get?

Dinner is hard to get because of the Beast. A lot of people book it and order just an app or desert just to get in the castle. Breakfast is hard to get because a lot of people book it for pre park so they can beat the rush to 7DMT and again order a quick bite and head to the ride. I’ve even read where someone booked breakfast and once in past the CM’s and we’re in fantasyland, they were able to change their reservation to something else later and just went to the 7DMT line.

Few thoughts.

The only way this place remotely feels signature is the main dining hall. If I was seated in the other 2 rooms, it would feel cheap ( although the room with the rose is cool, its not high class )

Second the food has been OK but never amazing. They need to fix that. Thats the main part

Kinda sums up the issue. Skipper's Canteen is the only 'foodie' restaurant in MK and thanks to demand Disney is moving their focus to top 10% income families.

Uhm not for anything but the new menu upgrade interests my family a lot more than the old one. And we are FAR from the top 10% income families. We like octopus, my dh is from a Sicilian family and that is something he was exposed to. Not that his family is better off than others or have better palates. We aren’t afraid to eat things like frozen pizza, but we will also try unique offerings when available to us.

So I’m not sure they’re catering to top earners so much as they’re catering to unique and/or adventurous palates.

Ahh, see that's the point though. By having the princesses there, they are clearly marketing the restaurant for kids. I feel the same holds true for BOG. Although it's not an actual character meal, you still can meet a character, it's in a castle from an iconic kids movie, and has various decor that will appeal to kids (talking suits of armor, enchanted rose, snowfall through the windows, large music box, etc). All of this seems to indicate that it was built with kids in mind. These changes seem to show that they are wanting to get away from that and make it more of an adult experience.
I do see what you're saying (and there's the much deeper question that comes up on these boards of whether kids should be the focus of all things WDW - a topic that's much too complicated for this thread), and I get that restaurants that don't have a broad selection of "kid friendly" choices (which itself varies widely depending on the kid in question) can create hard choices for families. At the same time, the menu is an important part of the overall theme - the French-inspired food is just as essential to immersion as the suits of armor and décor and architecture. As for BoG, it doesn't look like the overall experience is really changing much at all - just the dinner menu. And I'd even say that the food experience at dinner isn't really becoming more adult - it's already adult (it's hard to call the current dinner menu "kid friendly" in the context we seem to be using). Now if we want to talk about pricing, I'll agree that $35 for kids is really pushing it (especially if they stick with the current offerings of stuff like grilled cheese and soup, or mac-and-cheese).

People have been doing that for years at BOG and others have defended them when they were questioned. I’m happy with the new menu.

YES! And for everyone unhappy with the change, you probably have those to thank for it. Disney had to do something to control that from happening. Not only was it unfair to guests who truly wanted to dine there but couldn't get a reservation, but think about the poor servers. Back in December 2016, we sat down next to a table of 8 and they order 3 desserts and 2 glasses of wine. They also stayed at the table to entire time we were there and left just before us. They left a $5 tip. I was horrified and commented to our server. He was very polite and said, "unfortunately that happens all the time. People come just to meet the Beast". We have been to Disney 4 times since that trip and have not been able to get a BOG reservation at 180+ days out since. We have one for our upcoming trip next month that I was able to secure about a month ago using a reservation finder because I couldn't get one at 180+ days out. I'm not particularly thrilled that my son will cost $35 once he turns 3, or that dessert is forced upon you (hoping they allow substitutions), but I still welcome the change.

California Grill .... kids app, tenderloin for dinner and a dessert will cost $30 and no Beast, no theme at all. But the food is great!

That's awful and incredibly tacky. I can't believe people had the nerve to do that. And I'm sure it did happen all the time.

I agree that isn't necessarily the proper thing to do, but Disney created that mess and I feel there are other ways to handle it, like requiring every member of a party to buy an entree. And I don't have a problem with the adult pricing, I think it is fair even though I think there could be a more diverse selection of apps. But either way, I think it's ridiculous to require someone to pay $35 / child. I don't care what's on that menu, my 4-year old likes steak, but doesn't understand the difference between a flank steak, a sirloin, or a filet. For that much, there needs to be more to the experience than just good ambiance and a character that can be slightly scary for young kids.

Big difference, a family is not REQUIRED to buy all of those things to dine their if there kids won't eat it all.

Yes the food at California grill blows away anything BOG has done.. I love California Grill. Hopefully the change in BOG will make the dinners taste much better than they currently do.

To many familes just go to see the inside without really eating during dinner. I personally love the idea of having to pay a certain amount, for dinner only of course

I was looking at the current BOG menu and noticed the souvenir cups. Maybe they will be including something like that for the kids price.

Poulet rouge is a breed of chicken, just an FYI. And my mom is French, I was raised on French food and I’ve never heard of some of this food (basil scented tomato water?)

My initial thought was "this is why we can't have nice things..." To me this is a response to people who were booking dining there to go in and have a dessert/meet the Beast. I'm all for a change to the Prix Fixe to avoid this. We don't usually have the meal plan - but if we did, I don't think this would be worth 2 TS credits...better to just pay out of pocket, which isn't unreasonable for a 3-course meal. Will be more expensive for us because we don't usually do an appetizer, or if we did we would split it. It is good that they are leaving Breakfast and Lunch as a quick service so people can still experience eating there even if they don't want a more "adventurous" or more expensive meal.
