Hi all!
I've been following a ketogenic "Keto" diet for a year and this was my first trip to WDW with these food restrictions.
We rented DVC points through Davids and stayed at BLT. We did the DDP. Our traveling party was: DH (Vegan), my two daughters (age 6=sugarholic & age 4=super picky eater), and my parents, who prefer buffets. I did alot of menu research prior to our trip. All in all, although there were definitely restrictions, I was able to stay keto the entire trip
My only complaint was the major lack of low carb/keto friendly snack options. Majority of snack credit options were filled with sugar It would have been nice to see some mini cheese plates, pepperoni, non-glazed nuts, fresh strawberries, etc.... I'm just not a turkey leg kinda girl (and I read that they inject it with brown sugar). It was nice to have Starbucks coffee though.
Anyways, here are my Keto friendly meals during my trip. I mostly ate breakfast in the room (hard boiled egg and/or string cheese that I packed ahead of time).
I try to avoid diet soda. I stuck with unsweetened iced tea, iced coffee, bottled water, and red wine (included on the DDP!)
Day 1: Lunch at Contempo Cafe: Caesar Salad with Chicken, omit croutons & sub for ranch dressing. This also had a shrimp option. Because I got the drink with the refillable mug (I made iced coffee from the hot coffee they served!), they let me choose a snack instead of dessert. I was delighted to find the one WDW keto snack option from the entire trip-hard boiled egg and grapes! Gave the grapes to my kids. Not super exciting, but large salad with good chicken, and filling.
Day 1: Dinner at Hollywood and Vine Buffet: I was able to find some good Keto friendly choices from the buffet & thank goodness for hand carved meats! Though this was my least favorite character meal, the food was good. Skipped dessert. They did offer a sugar free dessert option, but I assumed it used a chemical non sugar sweetener, which tends to make me ill.
