Disney Dream has switched to pump bottles for H2O pruducts

Curious about this too, also did they provide individual lotions? Thanks for letting us know!!!

No. I did not see any individual lotions. There was the same type of large container of lotion on the sink area. In the shower there were three large dispensers, one each of conditioner, shampoo and body wash.

Was bar soap available when you checked aboard? Did your stateroom host provide if/when asked? Thanks

There was no bar soap in the bathtub/shower area, which I found odd. Only a hand soap in the toilet/split part of the bathroom. I didn't inquire about individual containers or bars of soap.

We were on back to back cruises finishing up on March 4th on the Dream. First cruise we had the regular little disposable containers. The last night our stateroom host told us they did not have anymore and were replacing them with these. He had lots of boxes in them for each stateroom.

I’m sorry, but if you are unable to tell the difference between stinky Nair and good-smelling conditioner, then you deserve to fall for that juvenile prank.

Yeah, you totally deserve it, especially if you're a senior whose sense of smell has decreased with age, or you're suffering from nasal polyps, or allergies, or MS, or a frontal lobe tumor, or Alzheimer's, or any of dozens of other conditions that can compromise your olfactory abilities.

Are we actually discussing the real possiblilty of people putting Nair in these bottles? Should we also then discuss the possibility of the ship hitting an iceberg? I mean really. These bottles have been all over europe for almost 10 years. Never heard of people having an issue or stories of going bald. Which BTW wouldnt happen with Nair unless you leave that spiked conditioner on for 10 minutes longer.

I mean if the idea is to come up with all possibilities Tampering with shampoo bottles, let’s discuss the Possibilities of bored teenagers spitting in shampoo bottles at Walmart. I mean I’m that person who opens and smells Shampoo before I buy and I’m pretty sure a security camera can’t really tell the difference if you’re Smelling or spitting

Glad you got a photo to share. I was on the 3-1 cruise and was a bad DISer and neglected to take a pic of the new setup. It's much more helpful to have a photo to go with our discussion!:thumbsup2

The difference being that at Walmart, there are cameras and who can ever find an empty aisle at Walmart, so there's always people around. This is in a private cabin with no cameras. As I said, it's unlikely cause most people are decent human beings, but it's gross to think about the possibilities of those that enjoy being a jerk.

And Walmart has actually started locking their makeup and toiletry aisles to prevent tampering and stealing. Not that I am agreeing with that practice but it is happening.

Think about the number of people the small bottles of shampoo came in contact with before they actually reached your cabin.
If tampering with shampoo bottles was a big issue it probably would have happened by now.
Why do people feel that other Disney cruisers are so sinister that they will take time out of their $$$ cruise to mess with a shampoo bottle

I really don’t know. I find the whole discussion entertainment. I wonder if these people never order soup while eating out. I mean haven‘t we all heard stories of kitchwn staff spitting in soups? True story, my college roommate worked at OlivenGarden, the guy in charge of the bread sticks was a conpulsive nose picker! People have no issues it seems sharing a „kids soup pool“ but god forbid some one touches my shampoo.

It was our final day and I quickly snapped the pictures thinking this might be useful info to share.

This was just posted on a FB group that I belong to. Not sure of the source.

"DCL Update: The new refillable bottles will be coming to all 4 ships by the end of the month. Stateroom hosts have been trained to monitor, refill, and sanitize the bottles.
All bottles have tamper proof seals. If the seal is broken the bottle will be emptied, cleaned, sanitized, and refilled and a new tamper proof seal will be installed.
Body wash will now be included as well (previously only for concierge)
Concierge will still use the small Elemis bottles."

They probably expect people to take them. If their refillable and attached to walls. It wouldn’t be sanitary for them to used on multiple cruises with different passengers.

That being said, if they replace it regularly it defies the (environmental) purpose... Because glass is kinda hard to recycle too.

Disney villains. That's why.

I am happy they have made the switch! Less plastic in the landfills is a great thing. Guess all the people on here that are worried about tampering can bring their own stuff.

I don't know about Disney ships, but in the United States Navy, we have plastic waste processors that are loaded by sailors of all plastics used by the ship (wrappers for parts, food containers...) which are then compressed to super sized 'pucks' (shaped like a hockey puck). These pucks take up very little space and we store them for recycling at the end of our time underway. They get a little heavy, but its nothing when compared to the impact of chucking all that stuff over the side. For non-plastics trash (non-food waste), if we can incinerate it, larger ships have an incinerator. I don't think DCL has an incinerator as I've never smelled it (there's a distinctive, but not unpleasant smell). Just a little thought. It wouldn't surprise me if DCL, and other lines, use a plastic waste processor of a type.

I'm am not a fan of these large containers, but I typically will only use the shampoo and conditioner I bring with me. DH really liked the little bottles we have so many at home from previous trips it's all he uses.

I asked a friend of mine who works in DCL reservations about the change (I was hoping that they would still have bar soap for those (like me) who don't like body wash, and I asked about the potential for tampering). She quoted this, pretty much word for word, so I think that it came directly from their internal documentation, and also said there would not be bar soap anymore.
