After following a link in this massive thread, I followed the advice and got my one and only CC, the Chase Freedom and it arrived today. I called immediately and asked the credit limit be lowered by $13,000 upon activation. I know that with the card, I can enjoy 5% cashback by purchasing GC in grocery and home improvement stores through June. Are there any tricks to upping my discount without opening another line of credit? The link advocated for the another Chase card but I'll need to wait a few months before applying again.
You can check on your Chase offers for additional discounts such as 10% of at Lowes up to $12.

Is there a standard policy regarding cancellation when you have booked a Marriott hotel on points, or does it depend on the property?

Just had to share the anxiety-filled Disney trips a couple friends have shared with me recently... lol.

I had a friend (but not someone I talk to frequently) send me a text on Thursday joking with me that she understood now why I became a lawyer. Before I could message her back and say "I hope you don't think it was for the pay" (reminder here that I work for the government...), she texts me back and says she's at Disney World with her 4 year old son for the first time. She isn't staying on property, but apparently just walked up that day to buy tickets and couldn't believe how expensive it was :headache: Crowd calendars say Thursday was an 8/10 day...

Another friend just messaged me to ask about taking her girls to Disney for the first time this year and staying there. When do they want to go? December 26-31... :scared: I warned her that it was going to be astronomically crowded and expensive to stay on property. To her credit, she is starting this process now at least...

But in good news, my trainer and his family are in Disney for the first time this week. While it is crazy crowded, they did work with a TA and have been talking to DH and I a lot about FP options and what the best rides would be for their son! They planned well, so I think they'll have a good trip. Their son is 4 so they won't be doing many of the Mountains or other headliners, so I think they'll be ok.

Is this through their app? I've installed both Chase and Chase Pay on my phone. Chase says to check offers but when I click to check it tells me to use my card. Chase Pay says I have no cards that qualify for Chase Pay?

You’ll find it on the regular Chase app. Scroll all the way down to the bottom. Maybe you won’t have any offers until they see you use the card. I don’t have any offers on my SW card...I haven’t used it since I met the MSR.
I would think the Chase Freedom should be on your Chase pay. Mine is.

Hi - thanks for coming out of “lurkdom”. Just an FYI for the future, the best way to give back to our little community here would be to use a support link from the reddit group DISchurners. Whatever link you used for that Freedom card likely just supported some random blogger (many of whom we’d say aren’t even worth supporting because they are shills for the major CC companies). Nothing you can do now with that card, but just something to think about in the future.

If you want to join the DISchurners group, just let me know and I’ll get you setup.

Thanks so much for your help! it's most likely just a matter of being patient! I used it for the first time just under a couple of hours ago at Lowes and it's showing as pending. Perhaps when it's no longer pending it will unlock Chase Pay for me?

We’re about to open you up to a whole new world of possibilities!! (Hint: take the red pill)

Well we decided to add another trip this year after the Japan ABD. Just a long weekend to DLR so we can see SWGE there too. We are going for opening day in WDW. Plus, I've never seen the Haunted Mansion holiday overlay at DLR. Two birds, one stone and all. Booked our flights with AA miles. Lie flat seats for the Plane Princess (and me, who are we kidding here) meant zero flexibility on flight choices, so no saver awards for our flights. 90k AA miles pp for RT non-stop flights in business/first. Hopping on the grAAvy train has me caring slightly less about how many points I blow on a domestic flight. Plus this is an unplanned trip so it isn't in the vacay budget and has to be covered by points and miles. The cash price was $1907 per person so getting a 2 cent per point redemption for an AA flight has me somewhat mollified. I am hoping that I can get lucky with a DVC room at Grand California. We don't own there so have to wait for the 7 month window to open up. My backup plan is using our Chase free night certs when they post for the Fairfield Inn. Food and Uber to LAX and back should be the only out of pocket expenses. Man I love this hobby!!!

Dh and I took our niece to see Shazam tonight. She had already seen it but mentioned wanting to see it again. It was our first time seeing it and it was SO GOOD! I seriously loved it. I have hated every DC movie that has come out but this one was great. I think they need to stick to the comedic side of things since they like their slow-mo.

My first CIP statement closed so I just logged in and tried to transfer my points to my CSR and I was denied. It said my card was ineligible. What should I do?

Same thing happened to me last night. I wanted to move my CIP points to P2's CSR and it wouldn't work. I was able to move them to P2's CIP, and then they could get transferred to the CSR. No idea why, but it worked.

Thank you for this. I can book points or cash. I was planning to do points as it is 60k each on American. Problem is it 184 taxes and fees.
The cash price is just 650-670 so Im wondering if it is better to just pay cash. I looked at doing rt london to paris then back to london to compare
price to Eurostar. British Airways it is 100 RT prob comparable to Eurostar. Flying from Lax i do not much difference in round trip price flying to
CDG or Heathrow.

The stopover/trip to Paris is really tripping me up. Im tempted to skip it but my daughters are begging to go to Paris and also see DLP because
you know "we are in the area".

Amazing how a simple wedding trip is spiraling now lol. Might have to pick up another card to keep costs down.

So from LAX that's a good price. I go back and forth with the points and what they are worth vs. paying cash. We fly overseas in business seats so I paid 110K MRs RT from SFO>CDG which I though was a good deal considering the tickets can cost over $5K per seat. For coach sometimes we just pay for the seats and then save the points for another trip. Personally I think if you're already in London it makes sense to get to Paris. It's such a long, long flight from the West Coast, and you're practically there already.

One thing to take into consideration when comparing the flights to the Eurostar is that the trains are going from city center to city center. So you save a bunch of time and money compared to getting to the airport, going through security, etc. Neither Heathrow or CDG are really all that close to the cities, whereas the train stations are right there. It was a simple 10min taxi ride for us in both Paris and London, compared to almost an hour (and $$$) to get to the airports. So personally I'd take the train even if it cost a bit more. Just one person's opinion though.

There's so much to see and do in Paris. I've been to DLP but just for one afternoon since there were other things we wanted to do when we were there. It was a short (maybe 20-25min?) train ride from our hotel near the Tuilleries.

We are seeing this tomorrow. We’ve been waiting to see it since the first trailer.

That might be my favorite part of the story

Unfortunately the lady that books the travel books through her hotels.com account :badpc: shes married to the owner. I hope they use the free nights at least

I guess I could fill out a missing stay request for the heck of it, worst they cam say is no, right?

Can he not discuss this arrangement with them? I’d be raising cane about it.
