Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

Yeah, we are also there in 68 days. Doing a one night stay at Pop since our flight arrives in the evening, then doing our main stay at Yacht. Skyliner running would be great for transferring to Yacht that morning, then also think it would be nice to take to DHS with the kids. Even if it's a few minutes longer with the walk to International Gateway, we think it'll be worth it and the kids will really like it.

Has anyone else seen that WDW is advertising the Skyliner??? My wife just saw an ad in her Facebook feed that was just Skyliner stuff. Showed which parks and resorts it was on, showed video of unwrapped gondolas going in and out of the station. "Soar to the Magic from Disney Skyliner resorts."

Which area of AOA is closest to the skyliner? We've never stayed there and considering the Mermaid rooms. I've heard they are far from everything. So I'm wondering if perhaps the Mermaid rooms might be close to the skyliner.

Skyliner station is in the middle of the lake connected to the bridge.

Pop has the same layout and you can walk from one end to the other in about 10 minutes ( and I do not walk that fast). So I would say you could walk from the furthest room to the Skyliner in about 5 minutes

Red box is the Skyliner blue circle is the little mermaid section depending on where you are in the area your walk can be a few minutes longer or shorter. But not a bad walk

Thank you!

I see photos from the four Skyliner resorts and DHS - is Epcot missing, or is the video clip truncated? If Epcot really isn’t included, might be an indication that the DHS line will open before the Epcot line, as some have suspected.

Good catch - but it does list Riviera. Since Riviera can't be the end of the line since there's no turn around there, I'm not sure how meaningful it is. In theory, I guess Epcot could just be a turnaround for empty gondolas if the station isn't complete (making everyone exit at Riviera station), but that seems like a waste. The whole line would almost certainly be open before Riviera will even be open though, so I'm not sure if that's a good indicator of anything. I also don't know if perhaps it is just a truncated ad - it was a Facebook ad, so it might be shortened because of that.

I hadn’t seen this before. Thanks for ousting! Hopefully a sign that they’re getting closer to opening it!

The Nemo rooms are the closest to the Skyliner.

And if my friendship boat springs a leak, or is about to hit a rock, I'd find that to be one fine gondola.

You mean “hit a dock,” right? I’m pretty sure Disney didn’t place any rocks large enough for the boats to hit when they dug the lakes and canals the Friendship boats sail on. :goodvibes

It's not just my kids - I don't want to be around it myself either

And Disney policies for being on Walt Disney World Property (not just in the parks but on property) state "Please show common courtesy to fellow guests and our Cast Members by refraining from using profanity" so it isn't really in their rights to use it on property. And I think good to show my kids to speak up for what you believe in

As I've said a few times, I don't think it is a huge deal but yeah, if my fellow passengers are cursing up a storm, I will say something - I have in the past in similar situations
But how are you any more likely to be around bad language in a gondola than on a bus or in a line for a ride or anywhere else in life? I just don’t get that concern in specific relation to the gondolas.

Not any more likely just in closed quarters and much harder to avoid if it happens

And this definitely got to be a way bigger conversation than any issue that I think it will be in real life
