Can anyone tell me why United allowed me to pick an economy plus ticket (free) at check in when I have absolutely no status? Is it a United Explorer perk that I've never heard of? Not that I'm complaining. It's a long flight to Vegas.

I did this one too! I opened it last July and still have it open with just around $100 in it. It's easy to keep fee free. I'm pretty sure you only have to keep it open for 60 days, though. DOC said no early termination fees.
I did a push from a Capital One account for the direct deposit. My direct deposit was on 7/23 and I got the $400 bonus on 9/27.

So don't bank on it. One of the accounts I opened was reported to have CC funding, and some people could CC fund, but for me and others we weren't given the option when we opened. (I forget which bank it was, I did like 3 around the same time ) Fingers crossed it's still available
Citizens worked great for me last year on the CSP but I've seen sporadic reports of it coding as a CA on reddit but I don't think any were Chase cards.

I found the deal in the Starbucks app, in my Inbox/Messages. Supposedly limit one per account. I did it just now with my and DW’s accounts and got the $25 gift card and $5 bonus immediately via email.

There’s some debate in the DoC comments whether the purchase will code as “Starbucks” and trigger any Amex/Chase Offers and dining/restaurants bonus categories, or as “Cashstar” since it processes the gift cards. I put both purchases on the Amex Gold and I see the pending charges are labeled “Starbucks.”

I did this yesterday and got the "you used your offer" email from Amex.

My son's birthday sometimes falls on Thanksgiving. It can be hard to make it his special day when that happens. I actually had him the day after Thanksgiving. My water broke in the morning and I got up and made Thanksgiving dinner in a hurry! Luckily he didn't come until the next morning. That was a Thanksgiving to remember!

DD's bday is often on Thanksgiving (every 6 years or so). One year when it was, mom made a "turkey" cake and "mashed potatoes and gravy" ice cream (there was even a werther's toffee as butter). It was so stinking cute and my daughter with the sweet tooth was super happy. Since then, we've done different things like watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade while eating breakfast in our room at the JW Marriott and Disney for her bday but the turkey cake was the best (and cheapest).

I went all of 6 months once I got started in this. Before that it was about long 8 years (had to rebuild credit after identity stolen, divorce, buying a house, etc) between cards. I can't even think of all the wasted opportunities or I'll !

Argh could finally make another $100 payment with my Barclays AA Biz which meant two things, it would finish MSR plus use the last $100 in FFD on one of my Plastiq accounts. But I got in a hurry and forgot to apply my FFD Completely my fault and not the end of the world, just annoying! I'm blaming the fact that I got only 2 hours of sleep

ETA: At least it triggered the 1.5% fee promo?

Conversation Starter: How long have you gone without a new card? I bet I have the record here right now! I haven't gotten a new card (save the Hilton Ascend upgrade) since December. That's right - no accounts in 2019!

I will be under 5/24 next month, as will DH. This is my longest dry spell in seven years.

Been gone for a few days...had a really nice time in Nashville for my son’s college orientation for this fall. Didn’t do much other than stuff for that, but did stay at a lovely Air Bnb. It was my first experience with doing that and it was a good one! Only thing is, when I paid online it didn’t use my discounted gift card. The whole gift card thing I found difficult to navigate. So I am hesitant to buy a large denomination gc to pay for lodging on our Europe trip next year late spring. If anyone has advice on that I’d be grateful! Were you able to use a gc on your Japan Air Bnb, @Haley R ? Does the Arrival+ erase Air Bnb? I’d assume that would count as travel.

Speaking of Arrival+, it looked like DoC reported that rogue link was dead. Sad. Tell me it’s not true! I wanted one for P2 but the timing just wasn’t right.

DH applied this morning for his first citi AA Biz card and was approved immediately! So he is 2 for 2. Now, just need to get his 2 new cards in the mail and start spending.
