Jubilant June 2019 Exercise Challenge

(And ljcrochet, I think you're shortchanging yourself--look at the mileage compared to the minutes!)
I was shocked at the mileage vs the activity minutes but no clue what I should be adding
Disneyland Paris. (Did you see any posters or anything for Disney Loves Jazz or Electroland?)
i didn't see anything for Disney Loves Jazz or Electroland, but I wasn't looking
@ljcrochet - thanks for your trip reports. It looks like I definitely need to keep up with the walking in order to prepare for our trip. Did you encounter long lines and long waits anywhere? So sorry about the hotel issue. That sounds stressful. So glad you guys had fun at Disneyland Paris!
I was shocked at how much we walked each day.
I still have to contact Hotels.com but after crazy 2 travel days home i haven't had a chance.

Notice that I said 2 travel days home. We were flying home on Tuesday from Paris going to Phillie with a 5 hour layout since I thought the under 2 hour layover flight was too short. FLight left on time. My seat entertainment system was broken, a little over an hour into the flight we heard 3 weird beeps. Kind of like the beep you hear when you get to cruising altitude and can get stuff out of the overhead bins and recline your seats, but 3 in a row instead of one.
Then the pilot comes on the PA saying we have to go back to Paris due to an espresso maker malfunctioning. As we approached for landing, they had to burn off some fuel, and then said we cut the power to the forward galley, not to be alarmed with the emergency vehicles that will be waiting for us on the ground.
The way the crew made the announcements before we landed about stowing everything and keeping aisles cleared was very eerie. We land and they turn off the seatbelt sign. Then proceed to yell at people for standing up and going into the overhead bins. After an hour they say we are waiting for buses to depane and once we get back to the terminal they will have food for us and figure out plan B. We waited another hour to get off the plane. So 4 hours from when we took off. At no point did they offer us water or snacks.
We get into the terminal and the flight keep on getting pushed back till the next morning.
When you called, since we took off , no one would help with new flights till original flight was cancelled.

Paris didn't have hotel space for the airline to book everyone , so they said you are on your own we will give you a taxi voucher to get to the hotel you find on your own. No vouchers for dinner or breakfast. Nothing.
Taxi vouchers was a mess. Only good thing that came out of the time we waited was i called the airline and got us on a direct flight home. My husband flew to a different part of France that morning for work, so it was just me and my girls.

Luckily on Wednesday everything in went smoothly except for the time to get our luggage.

6/18 7 minutes 3 miles walked
6/19 7 minutes 3.5 miles

Wow, @ljcrochet, what a mess! But definitely check the EU regulations to see if you're entitled to statutory compensation. The EU has much more passenger-favorable rules than the U.S.

Congratulations to MikeNamez on turning Pleasureful Pink!

When the Halloween decorations come down, it's time for the Disney parks to start celebrating the end-of-the-year holidays!

All the WDW parks have holiday celebrations. At MK, look for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, with a new holiday fireworks spectacular. At Epcot, there's the International Festival of the Holidays, including the popular Candlelight Processional. At AK, there are new decorations and entertainment, including Discovery Island entertainment and Tree of Life Awakenings. And at DHS, watch for the Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! spectacular, Sunset Seasons Greetings (a projection show on the Hollywood Hotel), and Holidays in Toy Story Land.

In the meantime, the California parks will be gussied up as well. California Adventure presents the Disney Festival of Holidays and Disney Viva Navidad!, while Disneyland features A Season of Wonder, including A Christmas Fantasy Parade, Believe . . . in Holiday Magic fireworks show, and holiday overlays on the Haunted Mansion and It's a Small World.

By the way, it looks like castles on both coasts will be draped in icicle lights for a special holiday shimmer.

Congratulations to piglet1979 for turning Party Purple!

The other parks also celebrate Christmas and the holidays!

Paris has Disney's Enchanted Christmas. There is a Christmas tree lighting show and also a short Sleeping Beauty Castle lighting show. It's a Small World features a holiday overlay, and there is a short parade called Disney's Christmas Parade. In Disneyland park, Mickey and Minnie have a jazz band and singers for a live Christmas concert, and there's also Merry Stichmas, a dance show. Over at Walt Disney Studios Park, there are two shows: Sing Me a Merry Christmas (a sing-along) and Goofy's Incredible Christmas, a night-time spectacular involving projections on the Hollywood Tower Hotel, special effects, and characters.

In Tokyo, the parks have special decorations, and the Haunted Mansion retains the Holiday Nightmare overlay. The Country Bears present a Jingle Bell Jamboree (in Japanese), and there is a daytime parade, Disney Christmas Stories, as well as special Christmas version of the Electrical Dream Lights parade. DisneySea has a show called "It's Christmas Time."

Hong Kong presents the Mickey and Friends Christmastime Ball show and invokes a Magical Twilight Snowfall.

And in Shanghai, there's the "When We're Together" tree lighting ceremony, the "Mickey Avenue Winter Wonderland" show, the "Happy Holidays! Mickey" musical performance, and the "Christmas Swing" jazz-inspired show. Also, last year, the Disneytown Christmas Market featured an ice skating rink. Mickey and Minnie appeared on weekends and invited a few guests onto the ice to take pictures with them.

Hi all! Reporting from South Carolina. It’s been a totally crazy time since we left home I’ll post 40 minutes of running around with my granddaughters. The little one is 20 months old and a real ball of fire! She never stops! I actually got to babysit them yesterday. Their parents had overlapping work schedules - just like before they moved. Lol! Unfortunately my husband couldn’t be with me because our car needs some repairs. And it turns out to be very serious - the brake lines were so rusted, the service agent told him it was a miracle we didn’t lose them as we we’re driving down. Oh, I forgot to say that the air conditioning went too - new compressor for that! Needless to, this is costing a fortune. Next time, we’ll fly!
So far, this isn’t a good travel month for our group! @ljcrochet , your trip home sounds awful! A rotten way to end a great trip!
@piglet1979 -wishing your dd a speedy recovery!

100 minutes since last check in - weights, walk/jog, walking

@BonnieF, so glad your brakes held out until you reached your destination. Do the repairs mean you'll have to spend more days with your family than originally planned?

Hopefully, MikeNamez has more luck on his honeymoon than our group has been having during travels lately.

We were so very lucky. When you think of the speeds we drive at on 95 - my husband was almost sick at the thought of what could have happened. I’m not sure if we’ll extend our stay but it won’t take much to make us stay longer! We’re really enjoying every minute with them.
I can add 30 minutes splashing in the pool today!

Congratulations to BonnieF for turning Party Purple and to me for turning Pleasureful Pink!

Here are another couple of winter events that appear unique to their respective parks.

DCA marks Three Kings' Day, honoring the Ephipany (twelfth day of Christmas). In 2019, this celebration lasted from January 3-8, and it is scheduled to return next year. Here's an article about Three Kings' Day at DCA.

And over in Paris, January brings Legends of the Force. As one might expect from the name, this event celebrates Star Wars. Last year there was a show called Star Wars: A Galaxy Far Far Away and a nighttime show called Star Wars: A Galactic Celebration. Character appearances included Chewbacca and Darth Vader, and there were marches by Darth Vader and the Stormtroopers and Captain Phasma and the First Order. And guests had to be wary of Stormtroopers hunting Rebel spies. Legends of the Force also is scheduled to return in 2020.

Glad your car didn't give you any issues driving. I hope the repairs weren't too costly or delay your trip to much.
