Worst Value Meal (Most overpriced)

Just read a thread about most expensive meals. To me, if the meal is worth the cost to me, I dont mind paying. Just spent 2 weeks in the world, and some meals, even being on the DxDDP, were not worth the price if I was paying OOP. The worst.....

Trattoria al Forno.....$40 tower of pancakes (incl. juice and character interaction)

Compared to a AYCTE with characters, its ridiculously overpriced.
Crystal Palace = $40
1900 Park Fare = $34
Ohana = $34
Chef Mickeys = $38

etc..etc....

Any others I should be aware of for my next trip, if not on free dining?

I haven't been, but I hear that BoG is pretty expensive and not worth it unless doing the dining plan.

Well, your prices for these aren't quite correct. Chef Mickey is $49, 1900 Park Fare is $42, and Ohana is $40

You also forgot to mention the pastry platter at Trattoria, and you did make the choice of the pancakes. You could have had steak for the same price, so some of the disappointment is on you for your choice.

And considering you get characters at Trattoria that CANNOT be met in the parks anywhere, I'd say the $40 price is mostly for that and not the food.

My daughters choice, but Im just pointing out what her $40 meal was, not the worst restaurant, but worst valued meal, which would be the pancakes.

I would think they would charge $40 for the steak and maybe $25 for the pancakes??

Pastry platter wasnt even edible. Sugar filled cardboard

As for the prices, I got them on allears (breakfast, because Im comparing apples to apples), and went with the average price, so if they are wrong, sorry. We ate there but didnt pay attention to the prices as we were on the DxDDP. I do remember the price of the pancakes. We were all charged $40, regardless of what we got. My husband did get the steak.

The breakfast at BOG is definitely overpriced. Lunch isn't so bad and I think dinner might actually be a better value OOP than on DDP since it changed to 2 credits.

That's not how Character Meals work. It's one price. some are buffets, some family style, some order from a menu. Well, one price for 3-9, and a naturally higher price for 10+. Speaking of which, the cost is $34/$20. Are you including tax and tip?

I find it extremely difficult to believe this - but why did you not inform your server that the pastries were inedible?

Clearly thats not how it works, Im just saying, like the title of my thread, what I feel is the worst value MEAL. If youre going to go to TaF and pay $40 (speaking of which, not including tax and tip), maybe reconsider ordering the pancakes. Thats all.

And tip was not included, and my waitress made sure to tell me and was even so nice as to circle where I needed to write in her tip before I signed for anything (yes sarcasm).

I didnt tell my server, because honestly I didnt care if we could eat it or not. It was our opinion. Some may like dry icky pastries. We do not. I took a bite and put the rest on my plate. I knew my meal was coming...what do I need the yucky pastries for?? My family thought the same.

Okay, I get where you're coming from, but the thing that's missing from your value definition is the characters. The meal itself is nowhere near worth $40, but you did have character interaction with characters you cannot find anywhere in the parks. There has to be some kind of monetary value to that part of the experience.

Nope, I had that is my first post :)

Yes, you cant find Eric or Flynn anywhere, but we've done plenty of other breakfasts/dinners with Ariel and had meet and greets with Rapunzel.

Of the other AYCTE places I mentioned, they too have characters you cant find elsewhere. Mad Hatter, for one at 1900 PF. You can get your pancakes and cereal and yogurt and eggs and anything else you want for $34 ish dollars. Just a better value...especially with 5 hard to find characters.

Wow, I’ve never seen a tip line circled before. How rude. That might possibly have a negative effect for the server.

Well according to the op’s receipt, she was either overcharged or someone on all 3 sites need to update their menu prices.

Looks like the menu changed. What I got, Flynns Feast, isnt listed. It was 2 eggs any style with choice of toast and I think breakfast potatoes. I really dont remember. It was day 4 or 5 of a 14 day vacation on the DxDDP!!

I also know the tower of pancakes no longer comes with the apple compote. It was banana, which is why my daughter declined (no sauce on receipt). If it was apple, she would have had it.

Well, that's interesting. www.themouseforless.com and www.allears.net both state the price is $34. Even the actual website states $34.99 https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/boardwalk/trattoria-al-forno/

The OP’s price is the current, actual price. All of the AYCTE/buffet prices were raised not too long ago, so yes both websites are outdated.

And the WDW website does NOT list the price at 34.99. It gives two ranges—one going up to 34.99 and the other ranging from 35-59.99. Everyone knows WDW doesn’t list the exact buffet/AYCTE prices on their site.

Almost did. I was offended. It was a trend in all the restaurants for the waitstaff to remind guests that service was not included on the bill and as soon as it was filled out, my payment would be processed. This was the only one to A) Put the bill down directly in front of me, not my husband! But ok, its 2019..anything goes and I was closest to her
B) After the speech about the tip, draw a circle around where I needed to write it.

Up until that point, , she was nice, got our order correct, was attentive etc... I tipped her the 20%, nothing above. Normally I would have given $25 to make it easy on myself, but I searched my wallet for $1's to get the $24.

We get it a lot at WDW because we are British and they assume we won’t tip. I guess a lot don’t. It does annoy me because I have always tipped appropriately.

I am American and got it at every restaurant. Not sure of the reason, but maybe because Im from NEW England  Just kidding :)

I never had to pay the tip before the bill, prior to this trip.
