Hi all,

we’re off to Disney in May with our toddler who will just have turned 2. We’re staying at Beach club in a garden view room. Any tips for dividing the room for nap times and night?
I would have loved to have upgraded to a bigger room but unfortunately cannot.

He typically is very sensitive to noise so I’m just hoping we can work something out where we can hide on the balcony or something. 😂

I would definitely make your only room request a full balcony so you have that option as an area to escape to. Full balconies are not guaranteed at the Beach Club.

What does your kiddo sleep in? Crib? Bed? Pack n' play?

I've seen parents put their kids in the closet or bathroom for nap :rolleyes1. Our 2 year old sleeps in bed with us so we just let him sleep in bed during nap/nighttime and hang out on the balcony or watch a show on the iPad with headphones. More often than not, I nap during the day when we are at Disney, too. We ALWAYS bring his white noise machine when we travel so if you have something that he relies on like that, don't forget to pack it.

We found that our kids got so incredibly worn out that they slept far more soundly than usual and we didn't have to really be concerned with them waking up. We did opt to do quieter activities when they were napping, of course, but we didn't need to make/take any major changes or precautions. (And sometimes we just crashed out, too...vacationing with a toddler isn't the most relaxing way to vacation, LOL!)

We brought our white noise machine. That seemed to work fine. My son typically sleeps in his own room, full blackout - just his white noise machine/night light (it’s the hatch rest). He was fine sharing a bed and fell asleep fine with us leaving the TV on just super low volume. We kept the rest of his routine the same. But, totally understand everyone is different!

We just went with our 3 year old. We stayed in a savannah studio at AKL, so we did have a balcony. We put her in the bathroom in a tent, with a white noise machine. She slept great. The only downside was that we had to brush our teeth at the sink in the kitchenette and go to the lobby if we had to use the bathroom after she went down. However, that was worth it to us, as she's not a kid who can easily sleep in the same room as us. It also allowed us to watch TV and go about our business without worrying about waking her up.

My 20 month old stroller napped (thankfully). I don't know the layout at BC, but at POFQ we shoved the pack n play into the sink part of the bathroom and closed the curtain so it would be completely dark.

For us it's not the noise, she needs it to be ABSOLUTELY dark.

Bring some kind of white noise. This may sound crazy but we pack the Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier in our carry on luggage and run it without water just for noise. It puts out a really good white noise that doesn't have the looping that you will get with sound machines. We have brought it on the last 5 Disney vacations (beginning when our daughter was 17 months old) and everywhere else we travel. When our youngest was still napping, one of us would go up to the room and rest with her while the others sat in the lobby and played on ipads or sat by the pool. You may find that a nap is needed for everyone. Once my daughter fell asleep, I watched movies on an ipad with headphones.

We put on sound machines & sit in the dark & look at our phones. Usually too tired to care about doing much else & waking him up definitely not worth it to us.

DS too. Completely dark. His room at home is so dark you can’t see him even if you’re holding him right in front of you.
