Work has been quiet. I’m a physical therapist in a nursing home and it’s been like a ghost town with no visitors allowed and treating all the residents in their rooms. All of our outpatients have put their treatments on hold except one. We did swab three patients today so hoping those all come back negative or things could change fast. We had the first positive case in our county yesterday.

@Limes96 I have bad news for you. You are interpretting their policy correctly. My parents have a cash first class flight that was booked last May for this April and they were only offered vouchers good through May 2020. Its absurd. My parents have elite status too. They decided to just wait to see if the flight would be cancelled after spending 8+ hours on hold snd arguing with them. If you get a different outcome PLEASE let me know as I have been trying to urge my dad to keep pressure on them.

“Funny” enough a few months back when I was debating United vs Delta for a flight my dad said to avoid United at all cost and mentioned they only fly them if they have no choice. Guess he was right.

I wonder if you can use the voucher to book a flight for April/May 2020 (since the the change fee waiver applies to tickets booked by 3/31 and for travel through 5/31), and thus reset the issue date, then cancel that ticket and now have up to 12 months to use the resulting voucher from the new issue date?

It has me worried for the Amazon fresh order I want to do Sunday. It has produce or I'd just order now but I've never used their service so I've no idea if i can just order sunday and cross my fingers or if I need to order sat for a sun delivery or what.
I have a friend using Amazon Fresh. She says you need to get on at midnight to get a spot, other than that it's working out well for her. I wanted to try it, but for some reason they don't deliver to my address.

Didn’t see this mentioned...

Hawaiian Airlines is suspending nearly all of their US Mainland flights, keeping only 1 daily LAX-HNL flight as a sort of lifeline.
https://www.sfgate.com/travel/amp/Hawaiian-Airlines-suspends-mainland-flights-15151318.php
Considering the 14-day quarantine order affecting both residents and visitors flying into Hawaii that’s set to take effect 3/26/20, there won’t be much demand among tourists if they have to spend their entire vacation quarantined in their hotel room, and should discourage most locals from traveling if they have to quarantine for two weeks when they return home.

The article says they reached out to United, Southwest, and Alaska, but they’re still evaluating what to do about their Hawaii flights. These three carriers, and Hawaiian, have largely been responsible for increasing flights between the West Coast and Hawaii and driving the price war that saw round trip fares frequently drop below $300. I wouldn’t be surprised if United, Southwest, Alaska, AA and Delta follow in coming days and drastically cut or eliminate service to Hawaii until the state lifts its mandatory quarantine.

We were supposed to be on Maui next week...

ETA: OMAAT adds, “The airline hasn’t formally announced when cancelled routes will resume, though based on availability that’s loaded as of now, most flights are once again on sale for travel as of May 21, 2020, give or take.”

I suspected it was highly likely my kids were out of school for the year but hearing it was seriously disappointing. Mainly concerned about DS and algebra. I may have eaten a lot of peanut butter cups after I heard the announcement. I can't imagine how I'm going to keep him busy for 5.5 months and I'm guessing summer jobs will be hard to come by. DD can lifeguard if the pool opens but she doesn't want to (she was having nightmares last year about kids drowning). I'm getting ahead of myself.

Still struggling with August Alaska cruise. I think DCL will have to cancel but I'm better off if they cancel than if I do. But I also feel like I want to take control of something!
Khan Academy is a good resource for math. There are a ton of free resources online for most subjects.

Just gonna put this out there. This virus has me pretty anxious, but now all this talk of snakes is too much. Seriously, you have snake issues? I've been wanting to get out of CA for a while, but perhaps I need to assess the snake situation in the rest of the country first. :rotfl:

Sadly, our tv is not smart. We use our Xfinity cable service to access netflix. I am going to try an HDMI cable.

We use an AppleTV for Prime, Netflix, Disney+, etc. DH says that the smart TVs are too easy to hack.

@Crazed4DisneyinSC yes! :worried: Just one baby so far. Last year we had four so we are trying to get ahead of snakefest 2020. Clearly the copperheads didn't get the social distancing memo! Six feet snake boy!

I received a Fresh order on Saturday. I had to order it 10 days in advance. Now I can't even get a delivery slot, and the calendar is going all the way out to mid-April. I can believe things would be better up in WA though. It's pretty annoying when I spend time to create a cart only to find out that I can't get it delivered. :sad2:

Sunny weather. It's been a depressing wet mess for a week, making quarantine that much more depressing.
Sunny weather seems nicer but every sunny day we have more people outside. Most keep their distance but the kids aren’t good at that. At least rain keeps everyone in.
I don't see any deaths yet and only 16 confirmed cases. Perhaps it hasn't hit home yet.

2 weeks ago we were only hearing of 2-3 cases in our area, now it's 290 in Md, 221 in Va and 120 in DC.

We, of course are in a much denser population area than anywhere in WV, but still, the time to get going is yesterday. The one thing you have some control of with this is changing your personal behavior.
Illinois was less than 100 a week ago, today topped 1000. 😥
My mom sent me a picture yesterday because they got a bunch of snow and she was so angry. They just spent two months at Gulf Shores so of course it snows when they get back lol. I think it mostly all melted today though because it's supposed to be 50. Iowa weather gives me whiplash
We had that snow too. A bit crazy yesterday. The trees were all covered this morning (it was actually kind of beautiful and peaceful) but all gone by the time I came home from work.

I’m so sorry about your son, so tough to deal with. Hope you find an option that works for you.
shutting NY down In my opinion isn’t doing any good, other than killing businesses and economy. People are still getting together here...And the pictures of NYC over the weekend are crazy, definitely practicing not social distancing.
They need to enforce it. Police patrolling or something. NY hospitals already struggling from what I read.
Meanwhile, absolutely no movement on my boxed.com order that I placed on the 18th, at this point I just hope it ships and charges in time for the Amex credit.
I ordered on 3/11, arrived 3/18. Didn’t get updates until 3/17 though I randomly checked their website 3/16 and saw a ‘selfie’ of my package. Notification it shipped came the next day. Amex credit posted no problem so I ordered something again yesterday.
Makes sense to me. NY is an epicenter right now:(
Florida seems close behind.

Taxes done. I ended up using HR Block's self employment version to file since I had a K1. I did them on both HR Block and Turbo Tax and they were pretty darn close (which is good). HR Block was a little cheaper ($123 for federal and state vs. $150). Hopefully I'll get 15% back from Swagbucks.

That's just nuts. I guess I should gonfurther through the checkout and see what it says. Maybe I'll be stuck with the store after all.

It's probably a false sense of victory but I was able to rebook me and my mom's Mother's Day/30th birthday flights to MCO for our Universal trip and saved about $65/5k points. So that's a tiny yay. Thanks to whoever posted about the $45 flights - hoping I won't have to cancel :(

I really hope that you can get an order through. It could be better in your area.

More ripple effects of Hawaii's mandatory 14-day quarantine order for arrivals, Frequent Miler is reporting:
https://frequentmiler.boardingarea.com/wyndham-proactively-canceling-hawaii-reservations/
Wyndham properties in Hawaii are canceling reservations and may be closed through the end of April. The story and comments also say the Wailea Marriott (Wailea Beach Resort?) will be closed until May 25, and the Andaz Maui at Wailea is closing March 26 (the day the quarantine order goes into effect) and staff was told to expect that the resort would be closed through Memorial Day.

FM makes a good point, "More closures are likely in the coming months. With Hawaii’s 14-day self-quarantine requirement, I wouldn’t be surprised to see many of the larger resort properties there shut down since it would be onerous for them to try to enforce the self-quarantine and dangerous for them not to do so."

Has anyone here used Instacart to get groceries during this crazy time?
Yeah. It was a week-long wait. So I did the pickup instead. If you can do pick, I'd suggest that.

I worked 14 hours today. DH is STILL working. I was really looking forward to my CBS comedies tonight. They are a repeat. :(

I have not used Instacart but I just placed a pickup order with my local grocery store for next week. I could have scheduled the pickup for tomorrow or the next day if I wanted a late afternoon time but I wanted an earlier time so I have a better chance of getting the things I ordered. I also could have gotten delivery from the store and not a service like Instacart but the store is doing automatic substitutions for out of stock items and I'm not sure how picky I am going to be by next week (usually I am super picky but I might have to get over it). Doing pickup, I figure I can address any unacceptable substitutions there rather than trying to do a return (if that's even allowed now after things have left the store).

I need to blow off some steam right now because I’m furious. I’m reading lots of reports of people in our area seeing tons of New York license plates. People are driving and flying down in packs to get away from New York and come hang out at our beaches because we haven’t closed them yet.

A lady posted that she was stopped on the street by a guy in his car asking where open hotels are at. He had 13 (13!!!) cars behind him all from New York. They stayed in Orlando for a night then decided they’d drive over here to stay by the beach

Interesting thing about this whole mess is that I guess I never paid attention to how often we eat out.

I've only spent about $1700 toward the CIP MSR with a little under 2 months to go. Since there are no trips in my future and no eating out, I may struggle to make it!

I do of course pay some bills with it and there's the grocery store but it is still sort of weird to think about. I'd say the first 30 days of the MSR period we were still pretty "normal" so it will be interesting to see what the next 60 days will bring.

For many, many months I have been planning to apply for a CIP at the beginning of April (I'm under 5/24 as of this week). Now I'm not sure what I'll do.
