If money were no object, which DVC would you buy and why?

Beach Club would be my splurge. I love it there, the theming and the location. I consider it a splurge because of the high cost and the short life span it has left. My second splurge would be buying enough points at CCV to stay at a cabin every time. We only have 100 points there so clearly not close to being enough for a cabin.

We're fortunate to own the points we want at our three favorite resorts: PVB, VGF, VWL (BR), and SAPs at SSR.

What’s an SAP?

Sorry. SAP's are "Sleep around points". We use for any/all resorts. (The other three resorts we own we use almost exclusively at those resorts usually at the 11 month window)

Thanks - learn something new every day!

Copper Creek and I would buy a LOT of points - enough for at least 2 weeks in a cabin. Why? Because I love the lodge. Boulder Ridge is our first (and favorite) home resort.

if you could get 1500 points for free, would you have any concern about paying the dues? I’m trying to figure out the math in how good a value DVC is and the dues seem to be a wildcard.

If this were an option, and I had to think of budget, I might still do it depending on my personal finances. Using $8.00 a point for maintenance, I would rent out all the points the 1st year. This would pay for almost 2 years of points. If I booked rooms at 11 months and rented out actually resv's for peak Holiday's it could be even greater. Thats a pretty good return on an investment that had zero cost. Of course there is the issue of resorts being closed.

The following years I would try to rent out half of the points to always have a 1 year buffer for points. If $$ was not object I use the points to stay a month in Hawaii for approx 750 points (give or take) and use the other half in a studio at WDW for as long as I could.

When I first considered DVC in 2000, I think they were selling BCV. i love the Epcot resort areas, particularly BWV now, so that would have been my choice in theory. I am happy that we never did buy in.

I do like the GF atmosphere, but I am too cheap to ever spend the money to stay there.

Likely VGF, as it's so tough to get certain times of year. But AKV would be a close second.

If money were no object, however, more important than resort would be to buy enough points to stay in a Grand Villa anywhere on property for one week every year. We have a large family, and that would be a dream come true for me. Looks like 1500 points would allow us that option at even the busiest times of year at the most point-heavy resorts.

Alternatively, those 1500 points could allow my husband and I to stay in studios or one bedrooms for a good month or two a year when we retire if there were years that our children weren't coming to Disney...
we have the same retirement plan

VGF; phenomenal resort and we are in love with the lobby. The penguin fountain is a personal favorite and my wife and I were fortunate enough to get wedding photos there. Special place in my heart...

If money was no object, we would buy Beach Club. The 2042 expiration date would be perfect because the contract would die with us and not saddle my kids with an annual bill or another estate item to be sold. As it is they'll be left with BLT and AKL.
