Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

What makes you think this is a short period? The governor of California doesn’t think we should have any sports, and Disneyland should not reopen, until there is a vaccine! That’s going to be years! If ever!
So are we going to be wearing face masks for years?

You keep saying it’s going to be only a short time. But you refuse to put a time on it. So how do you know it will be short?
Why don't YOU put a time on it? YOU keep DEMANDING answers from random people on the internet, like, with exclamation points and everything! Sheesh.

Most pandemics last under 3 years. Shorter than people waited for Pandora to open. If this one is longer, theme parks will be the last things to worry about really.

I'm curious if anyone knows how resorts are handing everything? Does Shanghai have hotels open? Perhaps hotels/resorts anywhere you know of?

Social distancing? Are pools open? Are restaurants open?

ARE BARS OPEN???????????
:rotfl:

Has anyone heard anything about Hilton Head Resort opening? I was considering looking in to going as a back up alternative in case my trip gets cancelled. I’ve never been. I’m curious if they would wait to open HH and Vero at the same time as everything in Orlando.

That's so funny because we watched walk-throughs of that yesterday. Wasn't our cup of tea.
Vero beach looks nice because of, well, the beach!

No. I'm not.

The guidance I was talking about is about regular masks that the general public might wear.

Masks can easily get contaminated, regardless of the material they are made of. And the CDC recommends washing hands before and after touching the mask. Every time.

And the point is that, regardless of the material of the face covering, people are going to contaminate them. And the more contamination, the more chance of spreading any virus or bacteria.

Here is the article talking about the concern that the general public (not the people who wear N-95s) is not trained on how to wear masks and will therefore contaminate the masks.

Forbes Article

Exactly what I’ve been saying. I see people wearing masks and all they do is constantly touch it and their face. And they are not washing their hands and sanitizing after every time they do. You expect people in a theme park to wear masks for hours straight, in 95 degree heat and humidity and not touch their masks or their face?

If Disney doesn’t want to open without masks, then stay closed.

Yes, you have always said that. Many on here seem to think otherwise.
I don’t think many on here think there won’t be accommodations for those with disabilities versus not understanding why able bodied adults don’t want to follow mask policies if they’re able to. I haven’t seen anyone say it doesn’t matter if a person has a disability, they must wear a mask. If I missed that commentary, my apologies, but I’ve been reading through all of these comments.

I am interested in this as well- looked at possible summer reservations and there is maybe a night here and there but nothing available for several together over the next few months that I saw. I've not heard an opening date for them either.

And if they open with masks as a requirement, stay home.

It hasn’t been many people. But there have been a few comments that those who can’t wear a mask due to a disability shouldn’t come to Disney while these polices are in place. Which could be for a very long time, so not really a good solution.

Very low availability and it’s DVC only (I’ve never seen availability for the public) so you’d have to find points to rent which is obviously dicey right now. David’s isn’t even renting points for clients until August.

I don’t think I’ve seen a single post saying children under two or those with a condition that would prevent them from wearing a mask would be required to wear them. They will follow the CDC guidelines, and the CDC guidelines clearly state who should not wear a mask.

But, I do see a big difference between *one* member of the party being unable to wear a mask and the *entire* party unable to wear a mask (assuming face coverings are required). If the entire party cannot wear it, my very cynical self would assume it’s not a valid reason and that they simply don’t want to wear it.

You keep saying it’s going to be only a short time. But you refuse to put a time on it. So how do you know it will be short? Just like the lockdowns were supposed to be short. Started with 2-weeks, then turned into a month. Now 2 months. No one knows how long this is going to go. It may be permanent.

What the California governor thinks the timeline of mass gathering shut downs has nothing to do with what Disney’s dress code will be in the future. Theres a good chance that Newsom is overreacting with his guidelines. And before I get flamed, overreacting to this virus doesnt mean they shouldn’t be overreacting, because theyre playing the virus safe, which in turn will save many lives. But if in 2-3 months the virus has gone dormant, its going to be very tough to convince people to wear masks, and that goes for any state, not just California.

The lockdown was never supposed to be 2 weeks. Stores and businesses gave themselves that 2 weeks to assess the situation and see where we were before announcing a plan going forward, which is when furloughs came into play and refunds/extensions on disney tickets etc. You’d have to be pretty dense to have assumed the lockdown would only be 2 weeks and Disney would open their gates back up on April 1st.

I cant and wont put a date on when the mask mandates will be lifted, but they will, and it wont be years in the future.

You’re right, I don’t think there has been a single post that said that specifically. What was said several pages ago now was that those who couldn’t wear a mask due to a disability shouldn’t come.

Why would anyone with any medical condition even think about going to Disney right now? I mean, I'm all for hitting the parks if you choose, but the medically compromised and folks over 65?

It may be a psychological condition. Like someone on the autism spectrum.
Or someone with panic disorders may start to feel claustrophobic with a mask on. That's actually not that uncommon. It can trigger a panic attack.

As I said many pages back if anyone plans to go to Disney at this time they should get used to the masks now. Find one that fits properly and stock up. Try different styles and sizes.

Now is the time to get used to one if you want to go to Disney when they reopen.
