Sorry for the long post... I am just really curious if other Tri-State residents are aware of this statement/situation. Also if any one has any light to shed on DeSantis travel’s restrictions requiring Tri-State residents to isolate or quarantine - as in if there is a specific expiration date or if he can just keep extending it?
We live in NY and currently have a reservation at CCV from June 29 - July 6th. After receiving an email from DVC requesting we confirm the reservation (whether we are keeping it, modifying it or cancelling it) within 6 days, I went to the website and noticed that Disney now had a statement on their website: Guests who are under isolation or quarantine orders must not enter Walt Disney World Resort. (To be honest, I saw this statement on the website last night and copied and pasted it into an email but can not locate it on their website at this moment).
We had been planning on driving down and doing a resort only stay. But this statement has me very concerned because it doesn't appear that DeSantis has lifted the quarantined orders and it appears to be unknown as to when he will. I think that he recently extended it until the end of June but am unsure if that is accurate as there seems to be many rewrites of his original order. And I don’t know if it is a sure thing if it will end after June 30 or if he will extend it again.
There is no way that I want to drive to Florida and arrive at the DVC resort only to be told that we could not enter the resort so I braved a phone call to member services this morning at 9 am. After a 75 minute hold, I did get to speak with a pleasant member services rep and asked her about this statement. She confirmed it and said that most NYers were cancelling their reservations because it was unknown as to when the order would be lifted.
I have a very limited window to cancel the reservation and only have until July 31 to be able to bank my current year’s points so I don't lose them. I could possibly adjust my current reservation by a week or two into July but the 50% borrowing rule on new or modified reservations would require us to give up a day of our vacation and considering we are driving, a shorter stay makes the long drive barely worthwhile.
