November 2020 cruisers....what do you think? Are we cruising?

We're currently booked on a November cruise on the Disney Dream. I know that some of the other ships have extended their "no sail" dates out into the fall but so far, the Dream has been holding steady at the July 27th departure date as their last cancelled cruise. What does everyone think? Will the Dream sail this fall? My PIF is July 11th and I'm really torn between preemptively cancelling or rolling the dice. My biggest worry is that the cruise WILL happen but that they'll require all sorts of crazy restrictions that will make it so that I don't want to go...but I'll be stuck unable to get a full refund. I know no one knows for sure but I was curious what my fellow travelers are planning on doing!

It’s the CDC that sets the no sail order and as of now we really don’t know there’s been rumors about the CDC and cruise lines talking

I’m about 50/50 it’ll go. We’re booked on the Magic in November. We will likely PIF when the time comes, and hope for the best.

I’m a little more worried it will be one of the first cruises out, and there will be restrictions or other measures that will make me regret paying Disney prices. But basically, as long as kids’ club takes my kids and the bar is serving drinks, I’ll be okay. 😂

this is my concern! The restrictions being ridiculous for the $$$. But, valid point about kids club and drinks 🤣

I'm booked on the Fantasy in November and will be surprised if it isn't cancelled.

What is today’s price compared to the price you booked at? Is the price difference worth piece of mind if they make enough changes that you don’t want to cruise?

We are on the Thanksgiving Dream. We are already PIF because we moved from July. I’m feeling 50/50 right now. I’m not buying plane tickets till we know though. I felt super locked into July due to the tickets piece. I now have a ETC from United, but I’m unclear on if I can use it and cancel later.

I PIF for the Turner Classic Movie cruise aboard the Disney Fantasy Oct. 4. TCM will only give a full refund if Disney cancels. Dumb; I will never pay ahead of schedule again.

I‘ve been fortunate to be on several Disney cruises in the past. I keep thinking of the pre-departure life boat drill where all the passengers, and much of the crew, are packed tightly together all around the ship. Except for when we are in our cabins, cruises in the near future will be so different than before.

Even if the cruise happens, it won’t be the cruise we thought we were signing up for last November. I will wish upon a star that Disney will do the right thing and let people out of contracts signed before the pandemic.

same! And if we’re PIF....we’ll be stuck with little to no refund ☹
Why do you think this?
It's very hard to believe that once they start sailing again that all the policies they had will be fully back in place. You see the same with airlines, the skies are open again and many flights are resuming, but airlines still have very flexible change/cancellation policies.
Whatever measures the cruiseline will have in place, it's very likely they will be here for several months. After the Diamond Princess etc they are not going to take chances. Plus, on cruiselines, the audience is generally more vulnerable for Covid than in a themepark or at an airline. As everything is taken care off on a cruiseship, it's very appealing to an older demographic (generalization, I know). For this group, and therefore in general, they will need a flexible policy in place.

we were booked for Panama Canal cruise in November but my wife and I felt it was a bit too soon - I think we are going to see another wave of Covad-19 patients when we start the flu season again - We booked the TranAtlantic in May 2021 and hope a vaccine will be available by then to lessen the danger factor

We have a Dream 3 night cruise in November, and we are torn too! The pay in full date is in August and that does not give us much time to learn what the changes are.

I honestly don’t know. We just cancelled our September 3 night cruise. I have to delete my timeline!:(

We are going on the Fantasy 5 night double dip sailing on 11/9. I think by then they will be back up and running again, especially for the shorter cruises where they only go to CC or maybe CC and Nassau. The 7 night ones are the bigger question mark because they rely more on the ports actually opening. Out PIF isn't until the beginning of August but I am planning on paying the balance before then. Worst case they cancel it and I get to rebook a different one. The plane tickets to get down there though I may wait to get as that will probably be trickier or more difficult to get a refund on.

I was looking at the sailing we are on just to see what other staterooms were available and the prices have already gone up in the last week. We are in a 4E on Deck 5 Forward (5526) and they are completely sold out of those rooms for that sailing. Now whether that is with all of them sold or with them factoring in distancing or not making all rooms available to limit capacity I don't know. There are some classes on some decks where they have openings that are separated by a room and others are in the usual blocks of 8-10 open state rooms.

With Disneyland opening back up next month I could definitely see the cruise line still opening 7/27-8/1 if the CDC hasn't come out with any other new restrictions. Bob Chapek had said that DCL will be that last to restart so after DL they are the only ones left in the US to open so it is feasible.

There aren't too many things that would make it so that I wouldn't want to sail. I don't care about having a crew member serving my food at the buffet (as long as they don't skimp on my shrimp lol) or limited seating at the shows (could add a 3rd show or additional show on a different night and assign when your time is). Temperature checks aren't that big of a deal, you already have to wash hands before going into the dining areas and before getting back on the ship at the ports. The only thing that would be really annoying would be wearing a mask up on the top deck either in quiet cove, by the main pools, or while laying on the beach at CC because of the heat and let's face it...some really funky tan lines.

That's all just my two cents and how I see it. Everybody has the right to their own opinion and I welcome it. The important thing is, and I think we can all agree, that they are able to start back up and have the precautions in place so that people will be able to have peace of mind and not be stressing out about getting sick. One of my favorite things about DCL is just how clean and safe they already are.

There’s another thread on here with someone who has a September cruise for 14 people. DCL would not allow them to cancel, and this was after it was escalated and reviewed. I’m not saying these policies won’t change in the future, but DCL is already showing us that they aren’t relaxing their cancellation policies, other than the previously announced ones yet.

We are booked for the Fantasy in November, which was a reschedule of our March cruise. We really just want to go somewhere, anywhere, at this point and are being optimistic that it's a go!

We are in the same boat...no pun intended lol. We were going to go to DL in August but switched it to this and just want to get out of town and have fun.

The only other concern I have is if Florida hasn't relaxed it's quarantine rules on people from New York. We are from the point just about as far from NYC and still in NY as you can get so it would really suck being lumped in when we aren't from anywhere near the outbreak zone.
