Resort Change by Disney

I'm staying late August/early September at All Star Movies. Assuming it will remain closed, should I call and see where I can get placed or just wait and see what happens? I'm hoping POP fills up and they have to put me in moderate/deluxe, ha.

Well, my fear with waiting was that the resorts would fill up and I'd be screwed. I like knowing that I actually have a resort now to stay out and don't have to worry about it. If you're willing to take a chance, then wait.

Well if you’re having problems I highly suggest using the magic 7866 number. I had tried calling 3 other numbers mentioned in this post about 150+ times before I read the other one. Called it 26 times before getting through and waited less then 10 minutes to speak to GS!! She asked me how I got this number and like others I made up a response about a friend or something and she was able to offer me the following-
I had a POFQ 11/27-12/9 with PH tickets
She offered me either CBR or Coranado...since there’s no official skyliner opening date we went with Coranado.
Then since we had a river view with FQ we were offered a high level water view!
She also confirmed there was a ticket price increase since we had bought ours
but in order to make this resort change we’d have to pay any difference, but she took off the PH feature (I confirmed before she did anything that this would affect my park reservations from yesterday, which it won’t). In the end we actually ended up saving over $200 by making the switch.
She also confirmed that should POFQ open as our date got closer, and park hopping was allowed, that it’s be very easy to switch things back.

Hope that helps anyone with an update!

To be honest, I'm still pretty unhappy about it and I plan to let UT know it. I don't know that it will do anything, but I feel like I'm being treated like a second class customer and it is very frustrating to watch rooms get taken up while I sit here and wait for the crumbs that are left.

I feel like I'm in the same boat. I was actually trying to be nice and not make our TA wait on the line to get us a change, but when I finally got through the CM told me he couldn't see our ressie because it was booked through a TA. That seems defunct at best, it's still MY reservation and my $$ paying for it. I mean that's fine we called her, left a message and told her what we expected or we would cancel (so incentive for her), but regardless why I can't phone directly after the booking was already made seems ridiculous.

I think I finally caught up reading everyone's posts! That was quite an adventure in itself. We're scheduled at POFQ for last week of July/first week of August. We have a 7 day ticket already from back in March when they first closed. If I read correctly POFQ will NOT be open for our dates? I think we've decided to try to postpone our visit until the week before Christmas. (any strong recommendations against that?) POFQ has not listed its opening date so I'm thinking of staying at Animal Kingdom. We've been to WDW so many times and never stayed at AK. I'm hoping everyone's experience so far can guide me cuz I have lots of questions.
1. Is AKL on the list to be open by Christmas?
2. There are different parts or buildings of AKL....where do we want to stay? I'm really NOT familiar with this resort. We're "in the parks all day long" people so we usually stay somewhere budget like Pop.
3. We booked POFQ with the Fun and Sun offer...will they apply that to a (shorter) stay at AKL?
4. We have already purchased a 7 day base ticket. If we go in Dec. we would only be able to do 4-5 park days. Do we lose the other 2 or do we have 2 more days to use by the Sept 26 2021 expiration date?
5. If we do have 2 more days left of our ticket to keep for later, can we add days on to that ticket at a later date as well?
6. What number should I call to re-book our room?
7. Is there a chance they would re-book at AKL for the same price/night as we're booked now at POFQ since it isn't open and our original reservation dates back to Sept 2019 when we book for this March and missed out on the free dining promo and all???
8. Thank you so so much to anyone that takes a moment to answer my questions (esp if the answers were sprinkled throughout this thread already)!!

@vinotinto FYI, I was able to change my resort but was told that if I tried to remove those dang 2-day tickets that I would lose the 35% off that made up for losing free dining. :(

So has it been determined they are not charging people to move still if they keep the same dates? I have WL booked on 7/27 and my TA has been trying for two days to get through to get us moved to an open resort. I just am trying to figure out what to have her ask for...
From what I've been told, if you keep the same dates, you get "price protection" for a similar accommodation in your category. However, if you wanted your original hotel/room for a specific reason, they'll work with you to match a hotel that can provide that as well.

Update 1: after 10 hrs yesterday and then systems down, now 7 hrs today finally talked to a person and they are transferring me to GS since they can't see any open resorts for my stay 7/15-7/22. Fingers crossed, it was great to hear a human though.
Oh boy, those are my dates and I am at YC.:crazy2:

Does anyone know what happens to an existing reservation if the resort is set to open in the middle of the currently booked reservation? Do they move you to a different resort for the whole trip? Thanks in advance.

The magic number never worked for me but I am past CM #1 in line for GS. When you get to them do you have to give them the same spill again or has the CM already communicated with them?

We changed our Nov. AKL Jambo , Not DVC, because it was not listed to be open. Only Kidani and DVC Jambo. It could open later in the year but I did not want to take a chance of not getting a Deluxe later on so called yesterday.

Here are the tentative dates:
July 10: Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House, Disney's Pop Century Resort, Disney's Contemporary Resort
July 29: Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort
August 12: Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Art of Animation Resort
August 24: Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts
September 21: Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
October 1: Disney's BoardWalk Resort
October 14: Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

Update 2: After about 20 minutes wait for GS, original CM Maude came back to say they had switched me to CR garden wing King bed. I was happy with anything other than FW cabins as the walk would kill me.. I couldn't be more relieved. CM was awesome, friendly and very understanding. TGI Over finally! Edit: garden wing not necessarily garden view.

I’m calling first thing this morning and I’m prepared for nothing to be free.

We're doing a week at the Land and a week at the World. We're staying at the Disneyland Hotel and POFQ. Both are closed. DLR called us and upgraded us to the Grand Californian, no fees, nothing. We didn't even ask.

WDW? They haven't even e-mailed me that POFQ is closed and that I need to find a place to stay. I asked last week in chat about it and they wouldnt come clean. Now I can't even get through on the phone and I'll probably get hit with the rack rate when and if I actually do.

There isn't a thing about this that they haven't screwed up and it makes me leery that their incompetence will extend into keeping the parks safe.

I love AKL so I'll be happy to answer (and I talked to 5 different CM's the past 2 days so I have info!!)
1. Right now, only AKL DVC is listed to open. The situation is very fluid and everything is changing so they could open by Christmas, but no one knows.
2. I personally prefer Jambo House since it feels like the main building to me and has QS that's open late night also. However, Sanaa is a great option over at Kidani (just remember you'd have to walk over to Jambo if you want QS!) Either way, if you can get savannah view, I highly recommend it!
3. I was able to keep my Fun & Sun offer, but I kept the same dates and the CM ended up price protecting me. I don't even think they'd be able to book you at non-DVC AKL right now, but for sure if you keep the same dates they can keep the offer for you.
4&5. Not sure how the fine print is on the tickets at the moment, but there should be something that says how many months you have to use the tickets or a date to use them by. From my experience before becoming an AP, I was able to add on days to tickets by going to GS.
6. 407-939-5277 has given me luck with minimal wait times!
7. There's a chance you could get AKL but remember it's DVC-only right now and the rooms filled up fast. I called yesterday right after Jambo DVC was announced and there was nothing they could offer me.
I hope I was able to help!!

I was moved from YC to BLT this morning. The resort change was instantly reflected in MDE but also showed the price for BLT without the price protection (big difference of $1500). It took around 2-3 hours before the new corrected balance due showed up.

Where do you see the price that you are paying? I have never seen a price on their website or app, only in my emails.

Judging by your countdown in your signature, we're supposed to be at POFQ around the same time! We're in the same boat - completely unsure what's happening or what our options are. Even our TA doesn't know what to do at this point, and recommended we just wait as long as possible to do anything. I'm concerned if we wait too long, we won't be able to find availability at other resorts. We're going the week after Thanksgiving.

This was almost my exact scenario yesterday. General reservations offered me Pop century with a partial refund for price difference. I asked to speak to guest services because i told them I did not want to go to pop and wanted to see what else options were.

Guest services moved me to Contemporary with no additional charge.

Disney should have opened a moderate resort the same time that the parks open...anyone between 7/12 and 7/29 with reservations have the right to ask to be bumped to a deluxe with no additional charge.

Good luck!!
Dang...wish Pop wasn't opening for us...

On MDE the "My Plans" Section on the resort reservation line it shows my balance due (which is now my original YC package price less my $200 deposit)
