Carry-On Storage and Resort Choices?

Hello all,

A few questions as my friend and I are trying to determine the best option for us during our stay in late September. We were originally planning on AoA, but that was delayed and Disney moved us to Pop. One thing I didn’t realize would happen is that my flight itinerary keeps changing and now my arrival time is 3 hours later and my departure time will be 2 hours earlier. I had a few ideas, but was wondering if someone could give me feedback or insight?

1. Is it possible for me to just uber straight to the parks (our first park day is at Epcot, which is thankfully opened later) and put my smaller carry-on in a locker? Are they doing lockers? What is the biggest size for a locker?
2. Our first plan was to just keep Pop and utilize Uber when possible and save the money. We will probably go to Disney Springs 2 of the nights later on and I’m wondering if the cost savings will really be worth it. It’s $150-$250 less overall during the trip to stay at Pop vs. Caribbean Beach/Old Key West/Wilderness Cabin/Saratoga, but if we end up having to Uber 4 trips a day, it could get very expensive. We are figuring about $15-$20/trip depending on where we go.
3. How is the transportation schedule with Saratoga and OKW? Since we will probably be counting on a few trips to Disney Springs, this may be worth it for us.

Thank you

1. I can't speak to post-covid practice but there are lockers at Epcot that would fit a carryon. Larger ones outside the entrance are 29″ deep x 23″ high x 16″ wide. There are smaller ones inside the park.
2. I'm confused. If you want to uber from Pop to avoid the inconvenience of onsite transportation, you presumably would have the same desire to use uber to avoid disney transportation at the other resorts, right? Ubers do add up, and we avoid them unless we cannot take WDW transportation. That said, sounds like a pretty low cost to upgrade and so I'd say it is worth the upgrade no matter what you do for transportation.
3. Reports are that buses get backed up at busy times, and have minimal waits at off-peak times. That is true pretty much across the board, regardless of where you are staying.

Doesn't OKW have boats to Disney Springs?

Let me clarify, I’m not sure if we are comfortable with using the Skyliner as transportation. I know Pop and I think CBBR use the Skyliner, only having bus availability every hour or so (?). I think we would likely have to use Uber if we didn’t want to use the Skyliner or we missed the bus.

And which resorts have running boat transportation at the moment?

Right now I believe the only officially announced resort boat transportation is WL to MK, but think I read someone here say that the Poly is running its boat launch too even though the website said is not (although maybe that was referring to the TTC ferry you can walk to from the Poly--unclear). Friendship boats on crescent lake have not been running.

May I ask why you are unsure about the Skyliner? I know some people have issues with heights, which I totally understand. But from a virus standpoint, they are only loading one travel party per gondola, they have all the vents open so you get multiple changes of air while riding, and they are cleaning gondolas during the day as well. I was at Pop about three weeks ago and found the Skyliner to be the least anxious mode of transportation. One thing though . . .while I was there they were only running the Epcot and DHS buses at Pop when the Skyliner was not operating. So you didn’t have an option of which transport to take. It was either the Skyliner or the bus. Of course, that could change at any time, but I wanted to let you know my experience in case it affected your decision.

1. If your only luggage is a small carry on (tote bag, backpack, anything that would fit under the plane seat), yes. Ditto if you're planning to them Uber from the park to the resort with luggage. But typically, luggage isn't allowed on park transportation.

2. Cost value being worth it is extremely subjective. If the person spending the money finds value, then yes, its worth it. JMO, but using rideshare is a choice, not a "have to".

So we have a similar issue... we found a rent car from economy rental on priceline for $6 a day..
Now our transportation to off site and luggage storage is solved. Even paying parking are rate is cheaper

It’s a height issue and I heard that they get stuck a lot.

Also, I have always been a passholder and never had a car on property to go to the parks, but is there a fee to park at the parks themselves?

I can’t help you with heights, since I don’t have that issue, but I have had multiple stays at Pop since the Skyliner opened, and haven’t been stuck at all. I have even spent time just riding the Skyliner from station to station since I enjoy it so much. There have been times when the travel speed slowed down, I assume to allow someone more time to enter or exit, but not completely stopped. I know my experience is only my experience, but I think people tend to report negative things more often than routine things, so that may make it seem like it’s happening a lot more than it does.

If you decide to bring a car, you do have to pay a fee at the resorts, but not at the parks.

OP - if you have more than a carry on you need to gather all your luggage at the airport now. You can take an Uber to your resort and drop your bags

We've only ridden the Skyliner twice (December), and one of those 2 times we got stuck for a few minutes. It was a bit unnerving & someone afraid of heights is reasonable to avoid the Skyliner. There have been multiple documented instances of people being stuck on them for hours. If you're afraid of heights (or claustrophobic) & trapped alone high in the air in a suspended box for a considerable amount of time, it could be terrifying.

I like the Skyliner, btw, but if I were seriously afraid of heights, I would never ride it.

I'm aware of the one three hour incident the week it opened, last September. What are some of the other incidents? I can't find any reports of documentation. Thanks!
