:dogdance: :dogdance: :dogdance: :dogdance: for some of you.

Hoping I pulled the link off the app correctly otherwise @SouthFayetteFan @Lain or someone more reddit Davy will have to do it.

Reports on r/churning of 80k sign up bonus on CSP. Do read the comments about getting the link to pull.

Eta I can't believe I scooped @SouthFayetteFan on this. I even waited for comments because I couldn't get it to pull but wasn't trying as much as them. Wish I was eligible.
:sad::sad:
I just got CSP less than a month ago. I did use DHs referral so it's only 5k difference but still :sad1:

Excellent news! Thanks for sharing and I added this to the news thread.

Here's the DoC post for those interested in that format: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/chas...ts-signup-bonus-with-4000-spend-public-offer/

If you recently were approved for a CSP on the 60k bonus, it is definitely worth sending a SM to Chase asking to be matched! Report back here with your results so others know if it works or not!

Oh now well that's interesting. I just got the CSP in early July.

How would I phrase it? Just ask to be matched to the current 80K offer?

For those in multi-player mode with a current CSP... it might make sense to sit tight for a week or so on this and see if it comes around to support links. 80k + 15k would be a nice haul if this offer came to support links! Chase is not known to pull limited time offers quickly so this should be around awhile. And the offer is prominently shown on Chase's website so this is NOT a glitch:

Back for some help and a few questions. Been reading on here about the CFF. Not sure if I should go with a Marriott card. Do the points really get you anything? Maybe I should try a southwest card? Or even a Hyatt card would be nice but it seems hard to book anything good with points.

currently at DH Currently at
05/2020 CFU 08/2020 CFU
12/2019 CSP 09/2019 CSP
08/2019 Hilton Surpass 11/2019 Hilton Surpass

Hilton Points question
Does credit card need to be used every so often to not get account closed?
Do points need to be redeemed every so often to not loose status or points?
If downgrade do we loose status? Will probably downgrade DH

Marriott points Do they have to be used to not loose? Does transferring points to other user count?

CSP Is there a reason to downgrade? Both DH and I have it but I will be keeping for now. Is there a point for him to keep or just downgrade and to what?
  • Can do up to $5k/3month min spend . All cc are always paid in full/
  • Have 40k in Alaska but willing to try other airlines as long as i can choose my seats. (SFO, SJC)
  • Prefer Hilton have at least (100k), Marriot(25k),like their hotels but nights cost many points. Hyatt (like 10k pts), over 300k UR
  • Do not have any plans yet, but DL is always on the list and will be staying a lot longer for the next trip. San Diego and Puerto Vallarta for 2021. DL and SD will probably drive no flight points needed.
  • It is just DH, DD12 and I. But we usually travel with my parents and siblings. Total of 10. I try and bring the cost down for everyone.
Thank you! Any help or suggestions are welcomed

So you are both at 3/24 - I assume you have no other cards in the past 24 months? And that you didn't add each other as AUs anywhere along the line?

You should spend on ALL of your credit cards every 6 months or so to avoid closure due to inactivity.

Last I checked, Hilton points expired if you had no activity for a year, BUT that could've changed so I'd verify it. Many airlines have moved to a no expiration model but the hotels still seem to like to have those points expire, lol.

It's hard to give good advice these days. You're looking at a number of decent cards there. CFF, SW, Hyatt would all warrant consideration. I think Marriott would be further down on my list personally but you might feel otherwise depending on how you plan to use the points.

Yes we are both at 3/24. Not AU on each others cards either.

By inactivity is that inactivity with the credit card or using the points? I do try and use the credit cards i have points on every so often just to be safe. Ill have to double check each one.

I usually fly alaska/virgin or jet blue. Unless going out of CA. Then I have used American Airlines and United. AA i liked United no so much. I do hear a lot about SW so might look in to it, but not sure when ill be flying.

Marriott is probably on the bottom of my list also just because i don't seem to find anything worth it for the huge amount of points I have to use. I think maybe ill look at SW and Hyatt and see how far those points can get me. If not then CFF with some cash back would work.

No surprise to anybody here, but on my financial spreadsheet I have a list of all my cards and when I last spent on them. I use EVERY credit card at least once a year and most once every 6 months to ensure they don't close due to inactivity.

I also have a sheet detailing all of my points balances, when I last checked them, and also showing when those points will expire (for programs that do expire).

So the answer there is BOTH haha.

Okay, I have the link for the 80K from DOC website and I'm at 3/24 right at the moment.

Has anyone checked to see if they can generate a referral link for the 80K?

And thanks @afan !!

I see @SouthFayetteFan answered while I was thinking/writing. I'll give it a few days but now I'm pretty hot to get an application in!

Did you see SSFs post a few above? Guessing no one's been able to get.

This may help some people - here's what my Loyalty Program tracking sheet looks like.

I especially like the recent additional I made showing gross points and pending points. Pending points is used both for pending points incoming (from a card or a stay/flight) or pending points outgoing (for a future redemption). This way I know what I have and what I've used. Since I'm booking and cancelling a lot right now, it's good to be able to track and make sure I get all my pending points back.

Southwest Travel Fund Extension Deadline (possibly?) approaching soon:
Per the Southwest COVID response webpage we are quickly approaching an important date that I've yet to see extended. That webpage says:
  • If you decide not to travel, as long as you cancel your flight at least 10 minutes before its scheduled departure, the funds used to pay for a nonrefundable ticket (Wanna Get Away® fares) are normally valid for one year from the date of purchase.
  • However, in recognition of the current travel environment, we are extending the expiration date of some travel funds:
    • Customers’ funds that have expired or will expire between March 1, 2020 and September 7, 2020, will now expire September 7, 2022.
    • Any travel funds created because you cancel a flight between March 1 – September 7, 2020, will expire September 7, 2022.
  • For recently cancelled tickets and newly created travel funds, it may take up to five business days for the expiration date to change to September 7, 2022. Typically, the expiration date is updated at midnight after the fund creation.
My Thoughts:
I feel like some sort of update/extension has to come out on this... but if no action is taken, as currently worded, these extensions will not apply to credits created after Monday. And this matters even more BECAUSE...
  • Through December 15, 2020, qualified travel funds that are set to expire September 7, 2022 can be converted into Rapid Rewards points.
  • BUT to qualify, your travel fund must expire September 7, 2022,
  • You have until December 15, 2020 to complete the conversion (which I will add is non-reversible).
So if Sept 7, 2020 is the last date to take advantage of the travel fund extension...it's also potentially the last day to create a fund that can then be converted into points despite the fact that you have until Dec 15th to actually complete the conversion. Lots to ponder here...and hopefully there's some sort of extension that renders this all void, but keep it in mind for now!
An update to this quoted comment:

Regarding Southwest previously extending travel credits to 9/7/2022 - Southwest has now added the following text to their COVID response page
  • Beginning September 8, 2020, any travel funds created from a nonrefundable, Wanna Get Away® ticket can be used for up to one year from the original purchase date.
Basically, this confirms (for now) that travel funds from cancelled flights is back to normal AND that converting travel funds to points is basically limited to the pool of funds you currently hold with a 9/7/22 expiration date. Barring any further changes, you have until December 15, 2020 to elect to transfer those funds to points.

You can get a lot more with Hyatt points than with Hilton or Bonvoy. The Hyatt card comes with a category 1-4 free night after the first year. I find the choices are a lot better than the 35k Bonvoy free nights.

Has your DH had the no fee Hilton card already? If not and you downgrade him, it'll lock him out of the bonus.

Thanks I will look more at Hyatt and see what I can get with those points.

Yes for the no fee Hilton card for both of us. I have transferred all his points to my account.
