I’ve been trying to book reservations since Thursday. The online booking tool is not working. Disney acutely told me to wait until the site update in middle July. Thought this may be a good topic to discuss on the show.
 
So I have a guess what the update will be now.

Automated waitlist fulfillment.

I think right now what is occurring is that the system is automatically blocking any booking of rooms where waitlists exists even if extra rooms are available.

Complete guess but makes sense as to what people are seeing and then eventually the system catches up to take the rooms for the waitlist. It's why people in the past said you could grab a room before waitlist sometimes I think that loop is being closed.

The email they sent out makes it sound like a complete new backend system will be implemented. This is more than just a waitlist auto-fill change. We may not see anything on the end-user side, but I’m guessing it is going to optimize some databases, perhaps allow for some more online functions (perhaps including your waitlist automation item), and hopefully make things faster.

Except it will only let me book my home resorts today and I am trying for only 1 night and it’s a 1 bedroom.

No way every room at every resort for that one night is already waitlisted so don’t think that is it.
But, I do agree with you that maybe the new system will be a better one for the waitlist process!

I had this happen yesterday. I tried to add a night at CCV for our November trip. It continued to happen even after about four hours. I finally called MS and mentioned that I thought it might be a glitch. She told me it wasn't a glitch, that the room was probably taken by someone else before me. I pointed out that it should be allowing me to waitlist then instead of continuing to show it available after several hours. Not a glitch? Yeah, right.

It is definitely something many in MS know about. They all should by now bc every time they spin it to be member ineptitude or just being too late to grab the room, they lose credibility in my book. I spoke with MS 3 times yesterday and the last agent said tech knows and are working on it. The way it was worded to me is the “soft hold” that is placed on rooms seems to not be releasing and if the room is confirmed booked, it’s not updating in RAT.

**to add, if it truly was the room being taken, when you choose refresh results, certain dates would show missing and allow you to waitlist. The system is not doing that . Instead, availability is remaining exactly the same.

I booked 3 reservations yesterday around noon. No issues. They were all home resort reservations though, maybe that is why I didn't have a problem.
 
Not that I know for sure, however I had an inquiry about a 5 night rental and suspect the person had other owners checking the same dates at the same time LOL! I was unable to grab the nights even though they showed IMHO the renter was competing with themselves unknowingly. I don't know if anyone was able to get that reservation?
 
I called member services today. They said that because people are booking so fast that the system does not have time to update. This was a pretty creative but highly wrong assumption. Then they said it was a known issue and they are working on it (Since Thursday???). I asked why the issue is not posted on the website, and the agent said they would bring this up.
 
Experiencing the same problem. Very, very frustrating. I was able to modify a reservation on-line midday yesterday but not today….so I’m back on hold with Member Services this morning.
 
It is very frustrating that being able to use our purchased DVC points is not a priority for DVC. I mean this thing worked a couple of weeks ago. They have obviously made a change that caused this problem. When this happens at our work, they restore from a backup and go back to the drawing board on the change. This lets work continue. It always amazes me that DVC MS can make these changes but we cannot. I mean it is good, but it does cause a problem for us IMHO. At many places if the customer cannot do it neither can the phone rep. I feel like Disney IT says "screw them, they can call in if they need it that bad". If nobody could make the changes it would force them to fix it ASAP. Imagine if Disney could not book a cash DVC room, that problem would be fixed.

Which does suggest to me it’s a tech issue and something is preventing it from updating.

Maybe this explains why they need to be offline for almost 3 days. Complete update and trial to ensure it works right when it goes live again.

It does make me wonder if they have changed things to see if it will work now abs finding it doesn’t?
