Rise of the Resistance BOARDING GROUPS Superthread Part 2 *No Ride Spoilers Please* *PLEASE READ POSTS 1-3*

Question for Boarding Pass experts out there. It seems like the DL boarding passes are not all getting zapped up immediately at 7 a.m. anymore. We will be there Aug. 25-26, both weekdays, so I don't expect massive crowds or boarding pass demand. For ROTR, should I still do the refresh method starting a few seconds before 7 a.m., or wait a few seconds after 7 a.m. My concern is getting one of the very first boarding groups right at rope drop. I'd rather get one a little later in the morning.

I know beggars can't be choosers and ultimately I just wanna ride the ride, but wasn't sure what yall thought.
Do the refresh method at 7am, see the Join Button, Count to 3, then hit the Join Button.
Of course your are playing with fire, especially if you are trying for a WS BG at 12pm.

Be aware that RISE rarely opens exactly when the park opens. So if you get a early BG number you may have until an hour and a half or 2 to use it after official park opening. It is also prone to breaking down, so you can wait until the minute or so of your return time expiration to see if a breakdown delays your return window. Finally, you can be a bit late as well. I have been late up to 30 minutes and was accepted. I just make sure to take a screenshot of my BG Codes in case they disappear from the app.

That is playing with fire, IMO. Is the suggestion to count to 3 to get a later BG? We use the refresh method at 6:59:58. We've been very successful doing it this way. We have gotten low BGs (first 20 or so) many times.

refreshing exactly at 7am has got me within the first BG called 3 times in a row. When I waited three seconds it was between 1030am-1130am.

Very nice. I think that most of us use a very similar method, and that for most people any of these would work. The fine tuning is great to hear about.

I wouldn't risk losing out on the 7am BG's just for waiting a few seconds to get a later Boarding Group. There might be some delays in BG assignments today but by they time you go, they might be gone in 2-3 seconds if you wait for them. Why gamble it? Go with your normal schedule to pull down and refresh at 6:59:59am

Personally, if we received an early RotR BG, I would not waste the first few hours of the park opening on that ride. The whole ride experience is close to 20+ minutes and that is time early on in the day with fewer people in the parks, where I'd rather use more wisely on other ride que's.

Hopefully when we do get to go to RotR, they'll still let us check in. Multiple people have stated they have showed up hours late and had no issues boarding the ride.

So this morning at a hotel in Garden Grove missed my first ROTR BG ever, basically got the spinning wheel of death. Okay no worries figured I would check at noon. Went to check in at GCV around 8am and was kind of a stressful morning due to various things. Kind of vented to the very kind cast member checking us in and how stressed I was, and he asked if our tickets were already linked on the disneyland app , I assumed so we could try at noon for another BG.

To my absolute surprise he told me he added two ROTR boarding group passes good all day for us. I was literally tears when I mentioned this was my birthday trip after and my first stay here.
I would never have asked for this and am so grateful for this Disney magic I received today.

This is all very good info, thanks! On the one hand, I hate losing out on early morning hours for other DL stuff, but on the other hand I don't want to completely miss the BG altogether. Guess we'll just play it by ear and see what happens. Sounds like the wait 3 secs to click the boarding group might be a good maneuver though. From what I've been seeing, ROTR BGs have been lingering a bit longer in the past and not getting snatched up instantly as much lately.

I wouldn’t recommend this approach due to the unknown factor of ride operations. Yesterday was apparently a very bad day for the ride, and my friends who were visiting the park didn’t get to ride. 7 am BG’s were gone in less than 5 sec, and then the ride was broken down and didn’t start boarding until around 11 am. They released few if any BG’s at noon - I tried to help from home at noon, and we got error messages after the group selection at exactly noon, and then the queue was “full” in less than 3 sec. If you really want to ride it, don’t wait. I have never failed to get a BG and was very disappointed for them, and the lines at guest relations were so long that they just gave up. That was basically worst-case scenario, but it can happen.

On both Thursday and Friday, they didn’t start boarding until around 11:00. Friday was rough. Our last day. BG 12. We had to check out at 11:00. Could come back in the afternoon but we wanted WS because we bought the upgrades. I asked if I could get a pass to come back later. They said no. I can delete the ROTR BG passes and try for WS at 12:00. Went to City Hall. They said no also. He agreed with everything that’s going wrong with the ride and the situation but said it’s just unfortunate, next. All I could do is ask. Seems like lots of people get CM’s that are accommodating. My experiences have been the opposite.
Thursday, we left the park when our BG got called at 11:20. BG 21. Came back in Got in a long line. The ride broke down. We waited with everyone else for about 30 minutes. They announce that they’re not sure how long it’ll be if we choose to exit the line. I went to the front and was told if I leave, that’s my choice. They weren’t going to give me a pass for later. we stayed in line. It started 15 minutes later. Side note, everyone in line grabbed BG for web slingers. I feel 100% got it. Loud yelling from everyone. Reception was fine, while in line.

In retrospect, we must've gotten extremely lucky yesterday. I noticed they still weren't boarding at 9 and figured something was wrong. However, our BG 32 did get called and we had until a little after 10 to return. We rode without any problems and nothing on the pre-shows or ride was skipped. (We've ridden several times so would've noticed.) But I saw not long after the ride was down again. I guess we caught the very small window where it was running in the morning. But yes, I would never try and deliberately wait to join in the hopes of getting a later boarding group. Demand is still too high and you just never know when there will be shutdowns and delays.

Agree with so many others, I would never wait and try to get a later group. It is a huge gamble that may go wrong and eliminate your chances to ride for that day (or your chances to try for WS). If you get to the ride later than your BG time, you can always ask to see if they will still let you ride. If you wait 3 seconds after 7am to try for a BG, and you fail to get one, you're out of luck (with a few exceptional cases of pixie dust, as outlined in this thread).

When I got a BG on May13 I tried my best and whatever group I got didn't get called until 11:30 and I was trying for my fastest.

Then again on June 17 I don't know how I got BG 9 for Webslingers. We had to really hype it up cause we didn't think we would have to leave home so soon! Our group was called before we even made it into the park but they still let us in anyways. Crazy Stuff!

Thanks to the tips here, I have been practising the last two days but no luck. I think what trips me up is the step where I had to check the box "Select All" and I must have slow thumbs or slow internet since it took me up to 9 seconds to complete all 3 steps with no success so far. My question is whether there's a way to have the check mark already in place when I get to this second step or I just need to practice more to hover my thumb over the right place before pulling down. TIA!

I had better luck with the method of clicking in from the Virtual Queue page on the app, rather than the pull down to refresh method- it varies depending on how good your internet speed and your phone are. I would count down on the atomic clock and click immediately when it said 7am. And yes, have a thumb hovering over “select all.” However, when you’re actually there, you don’t have to select, because the tickets for your reserved day that day will automatically be selected. The join button will already be blue when you get to that page, so you’ll just click join ASAP. It did seem easier to me in actual time than in just practice. I got BG 8 my first day.

Your party is not selected, because you don't have a valid reservation that day. When you do visit, you have to just trust the system, that all the names will be selected and you just have to click the blue "Join" button.

Practicing at home, it's all about getting the timing and process down. If I get to the screen to select the names of my party, I chalk that up as a success. Especially, since you really can't go much farther without a valid park reservation.

Thanks for this! I have been practicing both, just in case.

Has anyone actually ever been turned away for showing up late? I ask because we had a really stressful situation last Monday with web slingers and almost not making it, and when I went to a GR kiosk to discuss it (I was asking how to use our DAS along with the BG), the CM told me "don't worry, you can show up late...the return time is just a suggestion." And we did check in like 10 minutes late and they didn't even look at the time, just let us in even though we said we were late.

Does this hold for ROTR also? I ask because we are going tomorrow and want to try for a BG at 7am, but we likely won't be arriving to the park until between 10 and 11am. We still have the DAS linked to our tickets, so will be using it again and since they changed it and you don't need to get a return time after your BG is called, should I assume we will be good to go if we get an early BG number but show up late?

I was like 3 hours late for ROTR and they didn’t care.

I apologize if this has been covered, but how do you know if you’ve been successful practicing from home? If you get to the “Is everyone here?” screen does that mean anything?
