Official 2021 Disney Very Merriest After Hours Thread

thank you for posting this! We bought tickets to the MNSSHP back in 2012, and I could have sworn they were around $50/ticket. And that was the first week in October (getting closer to Halloween). It was so much worth that price. The park wasn’t crowded…we had front row parade seats without trying…very short lines on the rides. It was an awesome experience. All that to say, when when I saw the prices of Boo Bash this year, I was thrown. I just kept thinking “there’s no way we paid nearly that much!” Granted, it was 9 yrs ago…but still. Your post validates my memory. Now to see the prices of this party, I’m just sad. During a year when people are putting their lives back together, Disney is going to price gouge NOW!?
price gouging is raising the prices of essential goods like bottled water or toilet paper during an emergency
the Disney World christmas party is neither essential nor a human right

Do you really have to call/ log on at 7 am to get tickets? I mean are a lot of the days expected yo sell out immediately??

We would be only considering the party to be able to ride everything at MK since we are there over Thanksgiving week, and we know the lines will be very long. If I knew paid FastPass would be rolling out by then, I’d skip the party and save my money to buy FP at the parks. Anyone else in this boat?

there were reports.. and nothing official from Disney.. of folks at boo bash who has boo bash wrist bands being sent though the fast pass entrances during that 7-park close time.

I am really torn on what to do all across the board for this trip now. We are there Nov 5th - Nov 13th...park days were set for 7th (HS), 8th (MK), 9th (AK), 11th (HS), 12th (MK). With party days now set for 4 of the days we are going to be there. With the 8th being the first day, I am pretty sure I need to switch that first park day just because I think it will be a mess of people at the end of the day and I have 3 people with us in scooters. Still cannot believe so many days are party days in that first week!!!

We can afford to buy the party tickets for our group of 7 but I still think we would need 2 days with MK. Anybody else going first week and now your plans are all out of whack? Now I really think they will wait for Christmas party days to sell out and we will get an update after that for fast pass upcharge.

We are also in the holy $@&! That’s a lot more money than we planned/want to spend group. We have Thanksgiving week reservations, which I’m not even sure I want to keep right now with the state of the world. But what annoys me most - we had committed to 3day park hoppers back in June - because dates were starting to sell out. Now for that week, we can’t change our park days because MK and DHS are sold out. So in trying to justify how we can shift costs, we can’t change #days/tickets because parks and reservations are booked up.

It’s as if they had a meeting where All
Ideas Are Good Ideas
and ‘let’s have a full length parade for the first time in forever, one kids will love. But do it at night, and are sure it’s priced high enough so families wont come!’ is the line of thinking that came count of the meeting. Bonus idea, “let’s give people 4-6 days notice to try and plan” before selling tickets.

The only night we could do is 21st December, which is $249 plus tax and no DVC discount. Far too much money for the three of us. That would work out to be nearly £600 - quite a chunk of our food budget.

Question about the party - what time will regular guests have to leave the park those nights? Our kids are too little to stay up that late so will avoid MK those nights if we have to leave early.

It's an after hours event so park close will be around the normal time, either 8:30 or 9pm.

I’ve never been at Christmas time until this upcoming trip over thanksgiving, so I was really planning on going to this. But at this price point, I’m struggling to see that it would be worth it. I’ve gone with nonexistent wait times during covid, and that was nice, but for a family of four, the dollars here just don’t match the experience to me. I’m really shocked disney has landed on these prices. And what’s frustrating to me is I’ve got my park reservations for thanksgiving week and would love to just change my mk days so we aren’t going on a party day, but magic kingdom is now unavailable that entire week. So I can’t make any changes or I will lose mk all together.

No most won't sell out immediately if any, even halloween day took 3 days. The last couple days, the ones around thanksgiving and the first one will be the ones that will sell the fastest.

I saw some reports of that coming through on FB. Have others confirmed thIs?

It will be me and my 9 year old.... we can afford it... but I dunno if its worth it bc our date is Dec 21

Any advice?

Yup, same here! Obviously they know that, so charged a premium. What I'm really struggling with is that usually on Thanksgiving week, MK is open until 11 or 12. Now they'll be closing at 9 on Sunday and Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday if they keep their extended hours for Deluxe resorts through that week. Just seems like the day crowds will be that much worse, if a huge chunk of visitors won't have access to the park after 9pm that week.

Yeah, it's a mess to try to change reservations that week! I already had MK for Wednesday, so I added a night at the Dolphin in hopes that deluxe evening hours will continue. But, initially I couldn't make our Pop reservation shorter. A couple of rooms did open up so that I could do that this morning. Now they probably won't have the extended hours...

I'm nervous about tickets selling out - any idea what time I should be online on the 20th? We're doing our first Universal trip Nov 6-13 and we had hopes they would have a Christmas party so we could get some Disney in. Hoping to get the first Tuesday or Thursday for 7 (treating our in-laws for all their help when we moved a couple of years ago, we had hoped to get them a behind the scenes tour but they don't seem to be coming back anything soon).

We went to a MNSSHP in early October of 2018 and one of my kiddos had a panic attack from the crowds in Frontierland. We went back for our first post(?) Covid visit in late May of this year and really really hated the lines situation.
It just so happened we found a great deal on a cancelled DVC reservation in September and so we’re making a party only visit for Boo Bash. We’re going specifically for low wait times.
I was hoping for a similar situation so we can go to this but yeeesh!! We’re a family of five and 😬
Plus I know I’d want at least one park ticket to Epcot to ride Remy and try for Space 220 ADRs.
Usually I throw all my money at Disney with no questions asked but these prices have even me thinking twice.

Hey, maybe they'll move the extended hours to DHS. It could happen, right? 🤞

I’m not standing up for Disney or anything with some of the later pricing (ridiculous), but I just wanted to point out that if this is going to be more “After Hours”-y than MVMCP in terms of people attending, then it’s easier to understand the early pricing. People have been comparing the Boo Bash AH event to a Villains AH event, right? AH have always been more than the earlier party dates. In Jan 2020, we paid $129 each for regular AH, and I believe Villains pricing was $10 or $20 more per person. AH was worth it to me because all I care about is riding rides, of course - I never had to be in the MK standing in lines during the day. I mean, we’ll have to see what they do in terms of numbers, of course. But if this is truly more of a Villains AH, attendee numbers-wise with the extra party stuff, a “bumped up” AH, if you will, then it has more value. To me, anyways.

That said, I’m still glad I’m only buying tickets for myself and on the earliest dates. $249 per person…yikes…they had better execute that perfectly, or they’ll be skewered every which way.

You should have a better idea Tuesday, if the information provided by guest services is correct (who knows????) and resort guests can make their early purchases online. Someone will probably post on the boards about the time. I'm sure Disney bloggers/vloggers will provide info, too. Stay tuned.
