Why we will not stay on UOR property again.....

My guess is yes. It was our first time staying on property but when we reserved we had an email sent that we had to sign and submit back (I want to say it was electronic signature). I know this isn’t much but I hope it helps a little bit.

Sorry you experienced this disappointment - I know how discouraging that can be when you look forward to a vacation and read so many rave reviews. As others said, issues can occur even at the best rated places - especially these days.

I am honestly puzzled at this paperwork and email signature process you mention. I'm not doubting you experienced this, but I just booked at RP 2-3 weeks ago for my next trip in a couple of months from now and received what I always do when I stay there: an email confirmation showing my ressie dates and the first night's room cost charged to my credit card. Same process as always.

I really hope that email you signed and sent back wasn't some sort of phishing thing or scam that had nothing to do with RP proper? I'm just honestly confused as RP doesn't do this normally - can't imagine what they wanted you to sign or what you were signing for?:confused3

But the good news is that you used a credit card, so you're totally protected if something fishy is going on.

ok...so that blows my phishing theory to bits lol
Ha that gave me a much needed laugh! But it's not a bad thing to consider. It was our first time staying there so i can totally understand your theory! But we always ask at check in if we are paid in full or do we owe anything and they said we were good. Plus when we made the reservations the TM on the phone mentioned this form. So I honestly have no idea what exactly is going on at this point. Very twilight zone now.

I stayed at HRH, Portofino and Sapphire during the same week as you were at RPR.
I had no issues, but I did specifically skip RPR as there have been a lot of bad reviews in the last few months and I have had issues there in the past - its unfortunate as I do like the hotel - but it seems to be hit or miss IMO.

I also stayed at the Swan at Disney and the room was fine - but the halls not so much. They also did not clean the room during my stay. They use COVID as an excuse but it was staffing issues. Even the restaurants were closed several nights which really annoyed me - basically they wanted everyone to go to Shula's and everything else was closed. Would be nice to know that at check in so you can plan - I ate at Shula's the first night and it was not worth going back to.

There are a lot of staffing problems from speaking to numerous people, from HHN SAs to house cleaners they just cant get the people they need. In some cases they also cant get the product - so some of the bars did not have specific brands etc.. In general they said they were doing the best they can with what they had.

It no excuse but I did give them a lot of leeway this year that I will not next year.

As for the signing the paper and returning it - I have never heard of that - I've does 2-3 trips a year for many years so I have no idea what that is about.

I have to say I have had numerous bad experiences at Disney - far more then the small issues I have had at UO, but when you have one of the experiences I can understand why you would be totally put off. Pre Covid any issues were taken care of by the Hotel manager to my satisfaction - but I know whatever is going on with the Manager at RPR it seems to be a mess.

Id say keep on them - get your paper work together and deal with the CC Company.

Once it is all resolved please update us - id like to see how it turn out

The other hotels I was discussing with others was Cabana Bay and Sapphire. So for the most part, that checks out. I wish we had paid more attention to recent reviews.
W stayed at Boardwalk after and I can tell you Disney is still under pandemic implemented protocols in certain aspects. I would love to know what the exact deal with hallways is though!

We totally understand short staffing and again we really didn't encounter any issues with any TMs (minus the nasty voicemail) or CMs. We were aware of certain things not being available in terms of food and drink and were totally fine with that. And as I have mentioned that one concierge was not in the wrong at all. I don't blame her for something that was clearly miscommunication.

Someone else asked if we were phished but the thing is we a) had the TM tell us that when we reserved and b) asked if we were paid in full when we checked in, so it goes against that theory.

We will be going through the credit card company. We are still getting our paperwork and emails and everything in order (we are the crazy ones that had appointments and chaotic work schedules to return to so its been slowly but surely getting there). We kept as much as we could in terms of receipts.

I will definitely be updating everyone. This is something that 100% needs to be taken care of, and once everything is final i will provide the update.

That paperwork thing is really weird. Do you still have that email? (Since you had to send it back, look in your sent mail folder) I really don't understand what that could possibly be. I've booked 2 UOR hotel reservations this year and did not have to sign anything at all, and just paid a one night's deposit at the time of booking. I didn't even know you could prepay your stay at these hotels. Was this email sent after you prepaid the reservation?

Didn’t have a car so no parking fee. Only thing we had charged was a Bula Bula bill. Everything else including the reservation was paid for weeks in advance.
As I’ve mentioned to others, we had to sign an emailed form and submit it within 24 hours of signing.

So, was the email final bill itemized? All hotel folio final bills are itemized. What are the charges listed?

I am wondering if the form you had to sign had to do with the fact you paid in full ahead of time? I would re-read that form if I was you to see exactly what you signed. I would also verify the email address that you sent it to in order to see who had the information. Might be a good starting point to figure out who dropped the ball.

So we booked a room only/cabana rental when we booked as we got the park tickets and HHN tickets through a third party. As I mentioned to someone else, I want to say this is new. We received an email, had to sign and submit the signed copy back within 24 hours. Also we paid in full weeks prior.
This paperwork thing is puzzling!

Yeah we were very shocked by the bus answer. Again I don’t blame the concierge at all. Miscommunication is to blame for that.
Unless there is information I don't have, it was a wrong answer that the concierge should have known. There are busses that make that trip all day, every day. Maybe there is a driver shortage and they've stopped the standard busses and she didn't know that it was raining hard enough to kick in the 'weather' busses?? Again, puzzling.

Did you ask to pay in full and the reservationist gave you a different number to call? Then the people at the second number sent you an email to sign and send back? Normally you have to contact their accounting department to have this done. I haven't heard of it being done any other way.

Sorry you had a bad stay.

For other newbies (to Universal) reading, Remember the hotels are run by Loews not Universal. Unlike at Disney where most hotels (not swan and dolphin) are a part of Disney itself. I can see an employee of Loews saying to try Disney for shipping gifts home if they know they can’t help and the guest is familiar with Disney being able to help in the past.

Ok I am thoroughly confused.

Is there something else that needs to be done in order to check into a USO hotel?

I have reservations there in the upcoming months (not RPR) and I plan to ask for a copy of the bill when I check out...

No you check in show your CC and ID and that is about it. I checked into 3 different UO hotels over a week
You can check your bill on the TV and they email you a copy as well

One thing of note is you should see on your bill "Deposit Transfer at Check in" that is whatever deposit you paid in advance. that is in the credits column. There is also a charges column and then a final balance.

I would have to double check as my mom has taken the reigns on handling this but I will definitely let her know to double check everything.
