Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

We arrived 7'ish a few weeks ago with no dinner plans. I eyeballed any last minute ADRs or walk-up list availability at any of the monorail resort restaurants to no success. Ended up at the Oasis Pool Bar & Grill and just ordered food at the bar. I really like the food there, plus it was pretty much just us, the bartender, and a beautiful evening - couldn't ask for much better. They close at 8pm.

I do also like Kona To Go in a pinch. The Kona sit down wait list was only 20'ish minutes at the time, but we weren't feeling Kona food on that particular evening.

Not sure how many in your party or your overall preferences, but I've been 1) refreshing for ADRs at times during the day of and 2) working those mobile walk-up lists hard (especially close to opening) and with a little flexibility we've often had decent success. I frankly don't even mess with ADRs all that much pre-arrival anymore, although "winging in" like that isn't for everyone.
Theyre all pretty good so it really depends on what sounds good to you. Keep checking, especially today, tons of people cancel in the last 24 hours.
You called it! I have been checking every 15 mins or so all day and decided to start refreshing at about 10 mins to midnight, and at 11:58pm, an O’hana rezzie for 5 pops up! Excited as we have never had dinner there before (I know it used to be better, but we don’t mind family style and my kids could eat their weight in potstickers).

Someone else can enjoy the 5:15pm Steakhouse 71 rez I nabbed earlier in the day and dropped when I got O’haba. I would have enjoyed that too but it was too close to our airplane arrival time for comfort.

So while hanging out on the Tiki Terrace this morning enjoying my Tonga Toast, I modified my split stay so that I now check into a Studio for two nights tomorrow! I will be poolside most of the day followed by the Tiki Terrace at night.

Hi everyone, our first stay at Poly is coming up and I have a DVC studio Standard view booked. My sister is also staying at Poly, but in a regular room. I know we won't be in the same building, but are there certain buildings we can request to be close to each other?

Look at the map. There are tons on google and disney site.

Tokelau or Pago Pago for DVC you could be adjacent to Rarotonga for example.

Get familiar with the buildings locations. Then if end up on opposite ends head to lobby and ask for closest available. GOOD LUCK!

Map I grabbed didn't label Tokelau. Thats the one to the right of Hawaii. Tokelau, Moorea and Pago Pago are the DVC. Hawaii supposed to be CL but CL bot available yet. Some people have been placed in that building.

OK, so I am officially spoiled. I don't think I will stay anywhere else on WDW property going forward.

I've stayed at over a half-dozen WDW resorts from Deluxe to Value, and just finished a Yahct Club portion of my split stay.

The DVC studio rooms at Poly are, without a doubt, my favorite room on property. There is so much functional space in this room. The walk-in shower head is adjustable in more ways than I can count, so for the first time (ever?) on WDW property, I enjoyed my shower. And having the two showers is a blessing for my wife and I.

I requested a high floor room in Tokelau and got exactly what I asked for. My room overlooks a not-so-busy walking path. I was concerned about noise, considering that this is a busy resort... the room is extremely well soundproofed from the balcony, but I do hear quite a lot of doors slamming in the hallway (now 11:30 PM).

Picture from my room..

I noticed on the activities calendar it says "Aloha after dark". I tried searching but can anyone tell me what this is? We are checking in Tuesday and trying to plan some down time into our stay for the kids. Wondering if this is something they might enjoy. Thank you!

Yes, your kids should enjoy Aloha After Dark. Music, games, limbo.. (can be loud)

Hi, friends, my partner and I will be at the Poly for the second half of a split stay, from Wednesday, March 9, through Sunday, March 13, 2022. (We're currently reserved for Beach Club for the first half, but we may change it to Yacht Club.)

This will be my first trip to WDW since 1989 (but I was a frequent Disneyland visitor in my teens, until my last visit in 2001), so it's our first stay at either resort. But between blogs, vlogs, and this forum, we've been soaking up all the news and info we can since we started planning in January. I wanted to start following this thread to see the pictures and the chat and to be part of the conversation.

We are planning alternating full-park days and non-park (or park-light) days, so we expect to do the majority of our Friday at the resort. So I especially appreciate the posts with the resort events and activities.

Speaking of those, I have a question: In the experience of the folks here who have done — or at least seen — those resort activities (like the lei-making, the pool parties, and the Aloha thing), are they mostly geared toward families with kids, or will adults traveling without children enjoy them, too? Thanks!

My opinion - generally speaking (key word) the resort activities are geared more towards children, especially the pool parties, video game dancing thing, etc. BUT - things like the Kukui Nut Lei making (or whatever craft of the day they may be doing at the time), Movies Under the Stars, and Campfire, are absolutely something some adults without children may be into and would totally be welcome. I’d probably also add the trivia or bingo games into that mix as well.

Hope that helps!

We are 2 adults with no kids and always do a couple resort days when we stay. We like to have a breakfast ADR somewhere close (Chef Mickey’s, ‘Ohana, Grand Floridian Cafe) and then spend the day at the Oasis pool.

Hope that helps!
Thanks, it does! Although we watch plenty of YouTube resort reviews, it's surprising how seldom the vloggers cover the activities. I got to see one vlogger do trivia at a resort once, and a different vlogger couple cover a scavenger hunt, but those were both, by coincidence, at WL. A few times I've seen campfires covered. Vloggers are all good at covering rooms, pools, shopping, restaurants, and fireworks views, but they seldom seem interested in organized resort activities. The mix of kid-oriented and adult-friendly activities would explain that a little!

You’re at Disney. If you want to do the resort activities, do them. My kids are in their 20s and I have been tempted to do the tie dye shirt 😂. Funny thing is my boys are 25 and 21 and they still come on vacation with us.

I've seen adults and kids do crafts. I've also played my fair share of trivia, it just seems to depend on the resort and day whether or not those things are geared towards kids or adults. Currently they are doing trivia now and it's 25% adults, 75% kids. Off topic but when we were at UO, portofino bay they played an all adults red light/green light and the winner got a free drink from the bar. Things got heated, it was hilarious.
