STAR WARS: GALACTIC STARCRUISER Official Information & Questions Thread

I can tell you what has me worried is all the problems with my disney login and the number of things that have happened this week that required 4 very long calls to get resolved. So many years ago we took part in a sort of beta if you will of Disney's id system...without getting into the details, it has resulted in my information not being passed to all the moving pieces of the Galactic Starcruiser. 1st started with not being able to order anything from Shop Disney, the system said I did not have a reservation. Then IT group thought they had it fixed..I ordered, then I received another email that cancelled my order and a resulting e-mail about limits and they want all guests to have a chance to purchase product. Long call to ShopDisney, they could not show me or say that I ordered anything...but could not order anything again. Another call to IT...they found my extremely old beta logins and deleted them....well that deleted all my stuff, trip and all. So they fixed that eventually...had all my stuff, my excursion stuff and lightsaber and bridge stuff...all good. Then the next day, all my scheduled events were gone and the play disney app acted as if I have never logged into the Datapad...Another call....ugh

SO sorry for the rambling, but I am afraid as I told the last cast member, that when I get on the ship, my id will not work for missions and story stuff....after almost 20 hours on 4 calls...lets just say I am a little worried. I'm sure it will be fine, but it is like having a Bahamas cruise scheduled and there is a hurricane out there looking for a target.

In my opinion this thread is in the wrong place. It should be under attractions. Based on what I can see on Youtube this is not a resort. To get your money's worth you need to go all in and treat it like the attraction it is. The rooms are for brief periods of resting between the role playing.

Some tidbits from Day 2: Since it was actively raining on Batuu, they handed out free Disney Parks ponchos in both kids and adult sizes at the Blackspire Outpost terminal. We were also offered free black paper masks and given our CSL pins before boarding the (kinda claustrophobic) transport. The pin backings are pretty weak; we lost 4 out of 5 pinbacks by the time we made it back onboard. (You can ask for different-looking spare pinbacks on the ship.) Definitely visibly wear your pins on your excursion despite that.
To use your meal credits, don’t place a mobile order. They noticed our pins and let us in to order with the cashier.
We opted to do the CSL portrait experience. So we were advised to show up 15 min prior for check in, made it 10 minutes before and were told to wait by the ship model for the photographers who weren’t there yet. Waited around, even asked another CM who said to wait nearby as she didn’t see them yet. Finally 1 min after appointment time, DH pointed out some photographers chilling by the front doors nowhere near the model ship. Once we established they were for us, they asked us where we’d like to take pictures, I suggested like 2 places, and off we went. (So definitely have a plan in mind because you might not have time before your session to discuss with the photographers.) We got in like 3 different settings despite trying to get 3 kids to cooperate. The photographers called it at the 28-29th minute and let us know to expect our photos in 7 days in MDE.
On an unrelated note, packs of roaming children are apparently not unusual on board, some of which were without parental supervision. DS11 ran off with a group and spent most of his onboard time with them. CMs are pretty attentive however; one of the main characters even told a kid she would stay with him until they found a parent even though the kid insisted he was fine without parents.

Is anyone else from Canada doing this trip? I am are trying to figure out what to do for insurance since we can’t use the Disney insurance and this is a very expensive experience not to have coverage on! We go in August so have some time before we have to make final payment.

We are using Manulife coverme - used it for my last 3 trips. The trip cancellation and interuption is only available w/in 180 days of your trip.

Can you please let us know if you get offered transfer of your luggage to a post split stay? We’re doing a night at the Hilton by Disney Springs the day before check in, and then 2 more nights at the Poly after. We will have a rental car, but if our bags can be brought over and we don’t need to worry about them great!
Can confirm what others previously said. They don’t do luggage transfers but offer a voucher for a taxi. Buses from there to Disney Springs don’t run until 11am and they won’t hold bags that long.

would you mind sharing the photo shoot photos or tell us how they same out? I would think about doing this

Just booked a regular room for our family of 4 (DS25 and DD22) for July 25. We wanted a suite, but there weren't any available. No Captains table either. Oh well, that's what I get for waiting. Took me about 90 minutes to get through using the number posted in this thread, and another 45 to book. It is not quick! I really wish they had the booking functionality available on the website. I would like to keep checking for suites, but I'm not going to wait on hold forever just to ask the question.

Really looking forward to it. DS25 is special needs (intellectual disability) and a huge Star Wars fan. Just wondering if anyone who as gone might have some helpful hints on how best to handle his journey. My guess is that my husband or I will mostly help guide him through--best comparison might be someone with a tween? I think he'll be really good at it once he gets the hang of it, although there might be some reality/play issues. He loves interactions with characters at SWGE but we always have to remind him they aren't "real."

From what I’ve read and asked of people who have experienced it with kids is to pair one adult with each kid and “mirror” their journey. So interact with them, once they have messages in their datapad let them choose, then choose the same response on your data pad. This is our plan for our 6 and 9 year old, with our 13 year old likely choosing his own path.

EDIT: this is also the advice for those that want to “stick together” on missions, regardless of age.

Then off to the trunk of the rental car my bags will go. I just love not having to have my stuff sit in the Florida heat all day.

Does anyone know if we'll be able to leave our bags after checkout and come back to get them later? We are not flying out until 6pm on the last day and plan to hit the parks in the morning/early afternoon before we zoom off to the airport.

Thank you so much. I figured this would be the most likely way to handle. I will also make sure at check-in to give everyone a head's up so they can interact with him as if he were a kid. Disney is so awesome with special needs, I'm sure it will be great. Not sure when you are going, but if it's before July I'd love a follow up when you return to see how it all went and/or whether you have specific hints. Thanks again.

On another board people are saying that the fold down beds are smaller than a twin and only sleeping bag width. Since we've booked the Galaxy Class Suite two of us adults are going to be sleeping on those fold down beds. Can anyone actually confirm dimensions? To me they looked like regular fold downs that are in the DVC living rooms and some of the other hotels. I swear I saw something saying they would support adults up to 6'3".

We’ve booked our galactic starcruiser Star for September 11th. We’re really looking forward to it. It will just be two adults. We’re staying at the swan beforehand. I see some people mentioned taking a taxi to the Star cruiser and getting a voucher. Does anyone know if that works from a non Disney hotel like the Swan?

I've seen a few bloggers post about them, they are definitely narrower than a twin. One person laid down on it and she was 5'9" and she fit with a little room. Not a lot, but enough. It was sturdy enough to support an adult, though if it were a large or heavy adult, it might not be too comfortable.
